Things I wish I knew before deciding to move to Ireland/ 5 years in Ireland/2023
hey, guys welcome back to my channel! Hope you're all doing great and feeling energetic this week! I am nearly to complete my 5 years in Ireland this month and as I look back, if I had known certain things about Ireland back then, I might have gone to a different country or reconsidered my options at least.
I made this video as informative as it can be, and I really tried my best to speak in English for my other fellow nurses who aren’t from the Philippines.
if you guys like to see more content like this, Please consider subscribing to my channel, it will help me build up this channel and grow our community of positive-minded nurses.

One more thing! If you’re not a laid-back person, Ireland is not for you! Lol. 😆 BUT, if you love nature and castles, then YES! 💯 Also if you loooove fries or potatoes! Ireland is the place to be! Hahaha. 🙃

Ireland is an island off the coast of Europe. It has no natural resources like oil, gas, minerals - only food. It is mainly a farming community, of less than 5 million people that produces mainly food for mainland Europe. We have only a small manufacturing industry. As a result, most anything you buy in Ireland will cost anywhere between 10% to 30% more because it has to be imported. As an EU country we need to try to stay in line with richer countries like Germany and France - and our taxes - and benefits - reflect that but almost everything we buy from food to clothes to building materials comes from mainland Europe and this adds to our costs. In the 1920's we became independent from the British Empire and as a result, one of our laws included a clause that you need to have a licence to recieve broadcasts - originally a radio licence it became a TV licence - it's still called a TV licence but anything you own that can recieve broadcasts must be licensed... this means that our national radio and TV can remain independent of government interference and broadcast what they wish... this costs 160 Euro a year - a small coffee costs about 3 Euro, a busfare about 2 Euro and for this you receive independent news, weather and entertainment. You need one of these per household even if you only watch Netflix on your phone. We have no manufacturing industry and little or no oil or gas reserves, so driving and buying a car is expensive. Our country outside the cities is mostly rural so cars, car ownership and driving is a luxury, and taxed accordingly. Then there is also insurance - we need insurance because there are many uninsured unlicensed drivers on our roads, who when they cause an accident cost the country a lot of money in hospital bills, repairs and road damage. We have no history or tradition of living in cities, or apartments so accommodation is scarce, and expensive. Modernisation and new laws mean that there are few old or run down houses to rent cheaply, it is not easy to build a new house even if you own land, and many Irish people live at home in their parents houses, until they can afford to buy or build. Rents are high, the cost of living is high, transport is high and difficult, but - please come. Ireland is mostly a welcoming country, we like to see so many people from over the world who want to come and live here - but this is new for us - please bear with us and come. We need you and want to see you here.

Hi. Thank you for the headsup :) I would like to ask, are there other cities in Ireland that's less expensive (food, house rent, transpo)? Thanks!
@BoyetVentura
@BoyetVentura Год назад
Hello! You’re welcome! Hmmm. I made a vlog about it and gave some insights . You can check it out. But to answer your question id say consumer goods will be pretty much the same, rent can vary depending on where you are whether your in the city or country , transportation is pretty much the same eveywhere😅 i think, car is essential ( in my opinion)

Limerick city is cheaper for rent than Galway or Cork. Located in the south west just beside Shannon international airport

I am planning to work in Ireland after my studies here in Poland. Yes, you read it right, I am studying nursing in Poland. Do you have any idea how to apply to be a nurse in which my credentials are EU in origin? Pinoy po ako. hehehehe.
@BoyetVentura
@BoyetVentura 11 месяцев назад
Hi , glad you’re planning to move and work here in Ireland, when it comes to applying as a nurse here from EU , I guess it’s easier , not familiar with the process as I have applied from the Phil, but agencies like CPL and Kate Cowhig might be one of many ways to apply here. Best of luck to you 😉👍

Hello , I don’t have the exact info re: this but google says it’s about 15 euros per hour, could be higher up to 18 ( possibly) which sounds about right. It would probably depend where you are and what facility you are working in ( private/govt) .Hope this helps 👍
