Things I Would Change About The TALARIA STING R MX4! || 2023 Ebike

I've had this bike for a little over a month now and still love it, but I pretty much just go over a few things that I would personally change about the Talaria Sting R.
Edit: I've made some edit changes to this video to avoid confusion or any kind of misinformation. A large portion of the video was spent talking about my annoyances with the different "rattling sounds" this bike produces. Since then, I've figured out it was another part of the bike making a sound that I thought was coming only from the chain. All good!
If you're into these riding/cruising videos, make sure to subscribe. It would be much appreciated! Peace and Be safe!

This bike is great in so many ways. The things I talk about in this vid are more so personal annoyances and personal preference type subjects. Other than that, never had an issue and the thing runs forever (range) haha.

@@shanew7361 well i really think im gonna go with the xxx because unfortunately im still fairly young and only have time to work over summer to save up. so in a few months i'll probably be getting the talaria xxx for the price. the only reason i was looking at the ultra bee is because im going to be riding off road. i have to get something (because im still young im stuck with my parents and they want to start riding trails in their SxS) and i really don't want to go with a four wheeler (what they wanted me to get)

My buddy is a motorcycle mechanic. Their shop sells CF Moto's made in China and they always pull the chains they come with and replace it with a DID or a RK chain. I guess the chains are just crap I'm sure it applies to this machine as well. Thanks for taking the time and actually pointing out the crappy stuff on these bikes and not just saying how awesome it is 😂. Maybe somebody will make a cool chain guide to help with the noise as well.
@Randumbly
@Randumbly Год назад
Yo I appreciate that input for sure! Yea I've heard stories about certain crappy stock parts on good or decent bikes being swapped for better ones. I was looking for an "x-ring" chain to try out. Do you know if DID or RK makes a 420 x-ring? I couldn't find one. That's crazy you say that about the chain guide because I was actually trying to see if there were a way to attach one, or some kind of tensioner, but I feel like that's doing too much lol. I just gotta man tf up and deal with it tbh 😅.

What rear view mirrors do you have on your MX4?
@cjackson07
@cjackson07 Год назад
That noise that sounds like the chain is mainly from the cogging. When the chain isn’t connected the gears aren’t spinning or moving that why it doesn’t make that sound. The front sprocket has a little play and the chain makes it move and rattle that’s why.
@Randumbly

There is a reason front wheels are smaller than rear wheels, I can’t articulate it as I don’t remember what the reason is but at least in sport bikes you need it… weird to complain about something that’s mandatory lol

I'm thinking about getting either a Mx4 or a Surron. I know Mx4 is better off the bat, but I'm not sure what the better option is considering how new the Mx4 and there is lesser known about it. Also not sure because of the points you all mentioned.

Well, I still haven't seen anything yet on any "actual issues" with the MX4, neither on my bike or on RU-vid. I say "actual issues" meaning like, something that would prevent the bike from actually functioning properly or at all, or like the bike not turning on, or something like that. Also, I'm not part of any of those "facebook groups" or "forum groups" or whatever they are lol. I'm sure any one of those people in those groups would have answers to any questions or concerns you would ever have for your bike though. Maybe I have a newer model because my battery fits tight in there did you install the foam pads that it came with? Mine doesn’t rattle at all.
@Randumbly
@Randumbly Год назад
Yea idk about newer models or anything, but from I've see and heard a lot of people have definitely had to pad/shim/wedge their battery to stay still lol. The included rubber pads were the first thing used and they worked fine for a bit then they kind of "slid" into a different position to where it wasn't snug anymore. So I got that air shim and it took care of it.

@jcasaubon
@jcasaubon Год назад
I can’t say much since I haven’t gotten mine.. but couple questions.. 1. What kind of lubrication are you using on the chain? 2. Have you changed the rear sprocket (smaller or larger size) or (difference teeth angles)? 3. Does the pedal kit interact with the chain in any way?
@Randumbly
@Randumbly Год назад
Damn. When did you order yours? 1. I just use a little bit of 80w-90 gear oil. 2. Not yet, but have considered going up just a few teeth in the rear for some more torque. Maybe a 50t lol. 3. There's different results out there on that. For me the small chain would touch the frame, and if I adjusted it so it wouldn't hit the frame, well then it would come close to touching the actual chain. So I don't use the chain and freewheel, just the pedals.

1. I use Bel Ray super clean chain lube and RK roller chain. Both are awesome. 2. Went from stock 44 tooth sprocket (55 mph) to 48, then to 54 (42 mph), tried 54 with 14 up front (45mph), didn't like it and put the 13 tooth back on, now I'm running a 58 tooth with a 13 up front, tops out at about 40 mph, but gets there QUICK. Also running a Kenda Trakmaster 100/90 19 on the rear, awesome tire off road. Had Shinko 244s front and rear prior to this, very good all around, awesome on pavement, very capable for most off road, only lacking in really soft stuff like deep sand or mud. I ride 95 percent dirt so knobbies for me... I'm loving the 58 tooth but 54 is probably the sweet spot for most people if you ride 50/50 on/off road. If you get a 14 tooth for the front you can swap it pretty quickly and run the same chain, so there's that. 3. No pedal kit. Just no. Do yourself a favor, save a bunch of money, and get some nice grippy foot pegs. Much safer in my opinion. I have had no trouble from the law. Pedal kits for these bikes are useless and create a hazard, in my opinion. Ride fast! Ride safe! Have fun! Grease your bearings, seems they forgot to do it at the factory! Actually Renthal chain, sorry. But I've used RK in the past. Can't go wrong, just make sure it's non o ring and keep it lubed!

I've been thinking for a while that I want to get this bike but I am just too much of a noobie to handle this bike, after everything I've heard, yeah it's a great bike but honestly we just need more time for 1. Better upgrade support (since Talaria hasn't been around for as long as Surron) 2. Bigger community (for maintenance support) 3. Newer models (Talaria did so much improvement from the original Talaria Sting to the Sting R imagine what an mx5 would be) There is just so much potential, I would get a Talaria XXX but it's belt driven, and that's the main reason why all my dirt bike friends told me to get a Talaria instead of a Surron because of the extra maintenance that comes with belts snapping and such. I'm also not too big of a fan of the battery placement, yeah it gets rid of the battery rattle but I don't wanna have to disassemble the bike just to get to the battery. Hopefully, the next Talaria model is way more user-friendly and improves on the rattle, maybe even a performance upgrade which is why I am so interested in Talaria as well. They look so powerful compared to surrons and it's straight out of the box which to me who doesn't plan on upgrading until I learn a lot more, is just amazing to me.
@Randumbly
@Randumbly Год назад
Yea for sure man, you got some really good points here. For me personally overall, it's mainly the battery not being easily removable that's the main thing for me on the xxx, I just need it with me for peace of mind I guess, and then there's other little things here and there. Coming from the R, I just want that soft suspension on the Surron again haha. The R is chillin but imo, the Surron just felt more comfortable. It also felt like a much more solid unit, like it has little things figured out like little rattles or whatever. I say that fully knowing how new these Talarias are as well. Yea there's the whole sacrificing power, battery capacity, higher price, "older bike", etc. but for me I'm willing to do that. I know others wouldn't and would just go Talaria all day. Idk, everyone's different and rides different so it's just dope that we have this wider range of these style bikes to choose from....Whichever bike you choose you'll for sure enjoy it dude haha. Just be safe!! 🤙🏾🤙🏾
@realthckidd
@realthckidd Год назад
@@Randumbly Thanks man, I definitely agree with you. All of these bikes are intriguing in their own way, I originally wanted to just upgrade a Surron but I realized how expensive it would be and how much knowledge I would need first. I might just save up and pull the trigger on the Sting R but definitely more convinced I should wait for a newer model by Talaria to see if they improve more as they did with the Sting R. I guess I'm power hungry and I think they might be the next best thing they just need to fix up some flaws. But yeah you be safe too brody, love your videos, keep it up. You've definitely helped me learn more about the bike since there isn't a lot of information on it.

It's like it's a good thing to have this wide range/selection of bikes to choose from, but then it also just makes it harder to choose 😅. I'm indecisive af too lol. Also I think the availability on the R has settled down and is ready to order, so that's dope.
