If I had a company, I’d personally make it harder to be able to become a trainee. Hear me out. This honestly would only work in larger companies where people want to make to your company. This sounds bad, but a lower acceptance rate would also lower the amount of trainees that don’t make it to debut. Obviously, in the real world? there’s going to be trainees that don’t make it to debut. Companies have hundreds of trainees and don’t debut groups and soloists often. A big example is YG and SM. I don’t want to scout or accept a million trainees just for them to waste their time and their teen years training and not debuting. If it’s harder for trainees to get accepted, we’ll have less trainees who fail to debut.

My no.1 requirement if I would ever to be a CEO of a kpop entertainment company is for the auditions to have a background in music. Someone who played 3 instruments before (3 and above) & has won local & international competitions & someone who studied in prestigious music/performing arts schools. Which also states that they have a foundation of healthy skillset in singing & dancing BUT I would still provide a much healthier training system to meet the standards & they can also possibly be future songwriter, composer & producers. My 2nd wold be the background checking. Idw to have a trainee to have such bad history such as bullying, arson, theft, sexual harrasment, abuse, fraud & many more. My 3rd requirement would be school report cards/ education. I would LOVE to see their grades & how they behave in public spaces to ensure that they are indeed properly educated & is capable of socialising. Apart from that, idc if they have 2 failed grades, I would hold onto them if they meet my standards that they are indeed musicians as long as they can retake the subjects or repeat the grade BUT within a strict supervision. My 4th would be prioritising health in every way. I want my trainees & employees to have good health so they can properly function with their jobs without having to deal with toxic work cultures. Yes even the healthy proper diest & I'm not talking about the banana or apple diest, I'm talking about equal distribution of carbohydrates to greens & sweets. They can also indulge in fast food but not too much. Also, their workout routine woyld consist of yoga & core workout, I want them to have an even fat & muscle in their body & a thigh gap is not my standards, they need to have fat & muscles in their body as well as being in contact with their doctors from OBGYN to dentists. My 5th is definitely the security for my artists & employees. I'm gonna open my own messaging app BUT no one is allowed to sign up if they aren't willing to give their private identity. Apart from the name, age ,birthday & email. The counrty & their address is also needed in order to track them IF they ever leave absolute hate comments & this rule also applies in their otehr social platforms AND more security guards that is amped with GPS device as well as their cars (for work only) & cctv cameras & hiddem cameras in the clothes of security guards so any stalker will be caught. The 6th would be cultural studies & offering advanced academic tutorings & learning different language even sign language & braile. My 7th would be flexible schedules. They will only attend music shows & variety shows that possible can give them exposure but I won't be making them attend any unessecary music awards ceremonies IF they're only gonna be performing & won't be taking any wins home. This is a kpop entertainment company therefore my no.1 priority should be music so its a must to take in participants who sang before even in the field of opera & theatre. I can still train them with the dance, rap & tjings such as improving their stage presence but those are easy to attain except for the vocal training as well as teaaching them about the depths of music from writing, composing, producing & directing. I would also like to add a 3 year dating ban to ensure that my artists focus on their job before getting into relationship since the enternainment music industry can be shady & is indeed packed with evil people, idw my artists be linked with these type of people so I would definitely also check up on them to see if they like someone who is bad for their well being & can possibly risk their career. I would also like to add the age range since I'm also looking forward to having younger artists BUT within the acting industry even in theatre productions but not becoming an idol trainee unless they're 15 & they won't be debuting unless they're 19-21 years old. The concepts given would suit them best not just their age but also with their group dynamics & their visuals & freedom to dress in red carpet but once we got an offer from brands then they can still choose BUT still be guided by good stylists including make up.

Regarding sign language, which one would you teach? each country has its own sign language. Example is USA, Canada and Australia, all speak English as their primary langue, but all have a different sign langue. So S.Korea, Japan, China, Thai Land all have their own signalnge that you would need to teach. I studies ASL (American Sigh Languge) in college and almost became an interpreter.
@dearyoongi
@dearyoongi 10 месяцев назад
Yeah I think same as other language it would depend on practicality, where they're planning to visit and where it would come in handy etc. I think a good place to start would be with ASL at least for basics/promos in the US as a more common one. That's so amazing that you studied it!💖
@adoptedbykpop
@adoptedbykpop 10 месяцев назад
@@dearyoongi and with ASL, if the idols know the manual alphabet (one hand shape represents one english letter) it will carry the far, cause then the can spell out messages. example; fingerspelling T-I-T-L-E T-R-A-C-K B-O-U-N-C-Y. but i think including sign lauge would be really interesting in kpop, and I support that.

The way this is the basic, bare minimum necessities, yet kpop companies don’t do this 😭 as an American, I’d probably let my idols debut at sixteen. Going with labor laws, I’d let them train and debut, but for no longer than 5/6-hours a day (about the average length people under 18 are allowed to work a day). They wouldn’t practice or stay at any event for that long. Also, for the education thing, in the U.S. you have to have a high school diploma, but some companies prefer someone with an associate or bachelors degree. I also strongly agree with sign language! I know basic American sign language. I wonder how sign language is with other languages outside of English. I basically would do the same things as you!

One major thing missing here is having advocates for the idols that truly have the idol’s best interest at heart and ensure nobody is taking advantage of the artist. This is mainly about minors that are trainees, but also young adults too. Even if nobody debuts until they’re 18, they are probably signed with the company before then, so they would need these advocates immediately when they are signed. This protects them from bad contracts/not understanding their contracts as well. This also goes hand in hand with learning about bodily autonomy and consent, since every celebrity is taught that everyone else has access to their body anytime anywhere. And going with education, idols are stunted developmentally because of how everything is taken care of for them, so they need to learn basic skills, especially regarding managing their finances. A lot of the time a manager or family member manages the idol’s finances either fully or mostly, and that just opens the door for manipulation and being taken advantage of. I appreciate the things you said, but if we actually want to make change in the entertainment industry (not limited to Kpop) measures such as these have to be put in place.

I once created a kpop management in form of a book on wattpad because it was a trend at that time and i was jobless and i made so much fun to create rules and groups with their concepts and i even created scandals for my idols xD But in reality, i guess I would make rules like no trainees under 16 year old and no debut under 18 or 19 year old, no surgeries under 20 year old, a psychologist the staff and the idols can go to when they need to, no diets and school lessons to learn about other cultures, history and about social media. I guess a good education about social media is very important now to avoid mental health problems etc.

this is such a cute video!! i really like how you included things such as learning about cultures and languages because a lot of kpop stans view their favorite idols as role models… and i think having a company that instills good values in their idols will allow their idols to be good role models for their fans. amazing video

1. Cuz I’m a minor (and will be 18 in 2025) myself I’d only allow 16 and up to train and 17 & up to debut. No one would be allowed to drop out of school, even if online. 2. I would also have more flexible schedules. 3. I’d let them eat whatever they want, whenever they want but they cannot eat too much or nothing but sweets 4. I’d have my idols have Mental Health check ups at least 2-3 times a month. If I could I’d also start a petition for the one EXID member who wanted to start a mental health clinic for Kpop Idols. 5. Same here like same here. They must graduate from both high school and college. 6. For language I’d offer English, Korean Korean sign language, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and Vietnamese. However besides those I’d offer Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Polish, Arabic, and Tagalog. Ofc I’d hire 2-3 native speakers to teach the language but ofc they also at least know Korean and/or English. 7. Ofc I’d have better marketing too. Without overworking and at least 3-4 days off a week: 4 weeks of music shows, an appearance on weekly idol, lots of interactions with other kpop idols on social media, and a few other things

If i had a kpop company, I would try to create a higher guarantee of debut no trainee is training for 4 plus years, 1 to 4 years of training is enough and would only accept 15 to 16 year old or older as trainees and of course debut age is 18 and over
@neb.9489

So if you cant debut them within that timeframe, what would you do? Hypothetically speaking. Would you transfer them to another label?

I guess the same as with any language applies, where it wouldn't necessarily make it possible to communicate with all deaf/harder of hearing fans, but at least it would hopefully make a difference in some way if they perhaps taught some basics in a popular one such as ASL 💖

I have a lot of ideas in regards to this video: 1. After seeing idols really all-rounded in terms of skills, but either their vocal/dance are not the strongest, in my company people should have vocal lessons that suggest trainees to sing in their comfortable range. Then they can explore their range after they support their voice better. I'm not a singer, so terminologies-wise I'm not the best at explaining things. I would probably have a composer have them sing pop songs that is sitting in a comfortable range of my trainees. Related to this, I will have ballad classes so trainees can deliver their voices emotionally. Before they tackle very difficult K-pop songs that rely on high notes. This can also apply to rappers, who don't need to belt as main vocals do, but at least they can support their rap/vocal if they choose to. This can make trainees develop a unique way of singing, with a good technique. Harmonies are included in the ballad class, which makes ballads more meaningful and less fillery (according to K-pop stans). In this way, I can see how training and comfortable range improves idols stage presence, which makes all the years of training worth it. 2. More exercising. Before they train, trainees need to engage in physical activity so their singing is more stable. Jogging on a treadmill while singing can help with stability. Running laps in a training room while singing also helps. However, I would hire a coach to see if the idol is overexercising themselves and offer some good advice on health and exercise. 3. I would have 16 minimum and 26 maximum in a group. 16 is a minor but it's not as young as a 12-15 year old, which makes them either a tenth grader or an eleventh grader. For 16-year olds, its preferably a trainee. 18 is the ideal age to debut. A 26-year-old in kpop standards are "too old" to be a trainee, however they already had their prefrontal cortex developed by that time. However, if a 16-year-old is debuting, I would have flexible schedules so they can still attend schools like SOPA/Hanlim/Lila.

The reason why company would go crazy on schedule for their new artist is because to gain money that they lost during preparation for debut not to mention kpop is hard competition dozen group like pop out every month. Unless you coming from big company you had to promote extra hard to get your group into public eye. That means is constant appereance because ppl dont instantly like your group in the beggining take a look brave girl it took long time to get them on the big spot and that even not their original member. World is harsh kid something that gen z should learn.

Welcome back Fran! I totally agree with all your terms for your hypothetical company. In addition, I would also implement a social etiquette class for public interaction. This would include any interpersonal dating along with safety and consent. I would also offer a music theory and production class in order for any trainees interested in expanding their skills within music or for creative purposes. Keep it up, Fran! Excited for what you have planned, for the rest of this year. ❤️🥰✌️

Just a note on sign language, its not a universal language. America has ASL, Australian has AUSLAN, Britan has BSL, Korea has its own etc. In fact, the most recent WFD meeting happened in South Korea this year

I loved all your ideas and changes but i personally wouldn't allow anyone under 18 to become a trainee either. There's no reason for a child to train that many hours a day and go to school on top of it, it is exhausting. That way no minors debut and they get the full experience of being a (high school) student. It also makes it easier for them to actually think about pursuing a career as an idol, cause a lot of the people who become trainees are very young and naïve. They underestimate how hard the work actually is and end up regretting it.

I agree with all your points. To elaborate on mental health, personally I would provide therapy to all my artists because everyone can benefit from it. From a more capitalistic side I would debut a very strong vocalist group who sing live because people often complain that the quality of vocals is degrading so it would help them stand out, I feel like this would be better for a boy group because nmixx debuted not too long ago and they kinda fill that void, also a mixed gender group because those are very under-utilised. I would also love to encourage female rappers to become great and not hold them back by forcing them to maintain a cute/innocent image and actually letting them and encouraging them to participate in writing, we need more Soyeons essentially. As a general note I would encourage all my artists to participate in making the music so songs sound like them and not the company which will help them stand out and not be dismissed as a copy of another artist. In terms of albums, I don't know if any company is doing this already, but I would include maybe an enamel pin or two instead of stickers because they can be reused and worn out in public. Also photobooks would include good quality photos of the most iconic outfits from that era. I would also invest in good quality merch that lasts long but also looks great, with cool designs. (Again people wearing them out in public.) Lightsticks would be more creative and not a dome with a logo stuck inside. For tours, world tours would actually be world tours. Not just one night on a weekday as well, for example in the UK one night in London then the next in Glasgow providing more opportunity to not only those who couldn't make the first date but also those who live in the north of the UK (me). Tickets would also be more reasonably priced. Dance practice videos for every song with choreo with one stationary camera, not only do many fans prefer this, it also encourages cover dances which boosts songs. Also just in general a bit more love to bsides. For fancalls, I think it would be a bit stupid financially to say you only get one ticket in the raffle type thing however I would open up spaces for ordinary fans. Perhaps partnership with Spotify to enter top listeners into a fancall event. I wouldn't allow the artists to skip the fan calls but I would allow the staff to so it reflects on the company and not them. I would allow artists to set boundaries with how they're styled, for example how much skin they're showing as well. Sorry this is so long but it's basically my roman empire ilmao. There's probably more I'm forgetting as well
