It's our first time in South Korea, and I have to say I really enjoyed our trip there, especially the food! But where are all the trash cans?

The T-Money card also works for taxis, toll fees, convenience stores, etc. and not just for trains and buses. It is so convenient to have. You can also withdraw the contents to cash once you no longer need it; do it at an airport convenience store before you leave.

Korea actually has tons of awesome veggies. A lot of them are things we don’t usually eat in Western countries, like bracken/gosari. However, you might not find them in bigger (often Westernized) supermarkets, as they’re better quality from smaller local markets that source them directly from the farmers. You can even buy them from grannies on the side of the road if you know where to go.

I live in Korea and there are TONS of greens, but you’ll mostly find them in more traditional restaurants or in old-fashioned home cooking. If you eat at 국밥 places you won’t see that many. You’re right that fruit is outrageously expensive until it comes into season. Also, I think you can charge your T-Money card at some CUs with your bank card. I don’t really remember because a lot of people who live here have a bank card that also works as a transit card. Hope you had fun in Korea! Love your channel!

@YvonneHoerde She is a down to earth very normal person. She's also becoming financially successful as her channel takes off, and spending that well earned money, mostly on travel and seeing her family, which she couldn't afford to do often before. She deserves her success, which, compared to most RU-vidrs her size will pay comparatively very little because she doesn't really do sponsorships. That's also part of the charm and genuine down to earth feel of her channel.

I really enjoy these travel videos. The shorts are fun as well. But I really enjoy the longform travel content. When you guys go day tripping in Germany or take weekend trips in Europe it would be really cool if you guys sometimes made longer videos about those. One of the many things I miss dearly after immigrating to the United States from Germany is the travel. Here the country is so large and diverse that deciding to take trips can be a bit overwhelming. Having to request time off from work because we want to visit a place in the South or East Coast from where we live on the West Coast can be difficult. It can take multiple days to drive before we even get to the destination( admittedly we have embraced the concept of a "road trip" being part of the vacation as there are many fun and unique things to see and do along the way👍🏼🚗). If we do not drive then we fly, which saves travel time but can be quite costly depending on which times you tavel during the year. The bus system for long distance travel in the States is less costly. However it is a bit uncomfortable as there are no "sleeper" coach option, and the buses actually take quite a bit longer than driving yourself. The train system in the U.S. is also costly, rarely runs on time(often leaving or arriving multiple hours or even a day late). Something that just does not happen in Germany unless a train has a mechanical problem. We have learned that Amtrak is more of a trip in itself. It is great for seeing the many different environments and geography the States have to offer. Many couples and families we met were on seasonal train vacations. Such as in Fall to watch the leaves burst into an array of stunning sunset like colors. The trains also have sleeping cabin options as well as seats, meals are often available as well. Unlike the trains abroad which offer high apeed options, trains here are regular slower moving trains. Also depending on which State and are you live in public transportation here is not good in all areas. Some maajor cities like NY, LA, SF, Seattle, and other larger Metropolises have subways, buses, light rails, and trams. Which is great. However it seems many other places do not and some do bot have any public transportation at all. Making being car dependent a fairly common thing. In Germany we could decide to hop on a high speed train after work on a Friday and be in multiple other countries by that evening. Then be home on the Sunday evening or Monday morning knowing we'll arrive on time as stated. Even hopping on a train to go to visit a friend in another part of the country was easy. The public transportation is fairly consistent and offers many options in all areas. Bikes also have access to many large areas of the cities where cars are forbidden. Cities are also very walkable. We did not own a car or need one until moving here. Biking is also in my opinion safer in Germany. It can be quite scary here as many drivers seem to get annoyed with or not look out for cyclists. It's quite nice when we return to Germany to visit family and friends to be able to easily utilize public transportation and bicycles. So as much as we love living in the States and the freedom living here gives us we do miss those things in Europe. Honestly it's not actually that surprising. The States are huge! Because of that there are actually so many unique, diverse, and wonderful places to visit and things to do that I doubt we could see or do it all in multiple lifetimes.

Actually, they do grow a lot of water melons here in Korea... When it is the main season, you get it everywhere for a reasonable price. And compared to Germany Korea also has a much wider range of greens and vegetables. In Germany they would throw out the greens of radishes or garlic for example, here they make Kimchi and side dishes out of it. When you get to know about Korean cuisine a bit deeper, you will also discover the many medical uses of certain dishes that are made to fit on people's energy types, the seasons or physical conditions. For these purposes all kind of vegetables, greens, roots, mushrooms, spices and herbs are used and prepared in specific ways. For me personally, Korean cuisine was healing. I suffered all my youth from irritable bowl syndrome, allergies etc. but since I mainly eat Korean food, I do not have any problems anymore.

Korea grows a lot of greens & root vegetables. They have a lot more than what meets the eye at first glance. It’s just very different. But because Korea has 4 seasons they can’t grow everything. But most Koreans really value Korean-grown fruit and vegetables so they eat very seasonally.

I’m surprised you didn’t mention the buttons! Many Korean restaurants have a little button you can push when you want to order something, and an employee will come. Also, there is usually a cash register so you don’t have to wait at your table for the bill. When you are done, just get up and go pay. Biggest negative: good coffee is really expensive. Biggest positive: bingsoo everywhere!

The public transport system is very similar to what we have in Montréal, from what I gather. We have our cards that we top up with individual trips, monthly plans etc. and we use them for all public transit in the city. We beep them going in the bus, by the driver, but we don't have to beep them on our way out.

Love your channel! Looks like you had a great time in South Korea. Too bad you didn't get to find out that SK is actually a vegetable heaven! Have you been to any of the bigger supermarkets? The variety of fresh vegetables is astonishing! About the subway card: SK is actually a nearly cashless society, and the reason you had to pay cash was most likely because you had a foreign card. Residents of SK actually have the transport chip right on their credit cards, so they never actually have to "top up"......the transport costs go straight through their credit/debit cards. Anyway, all the best! Stay happy!

glad that you enjoyed my beautiful home country! loved the video a lot 🥰 fun fact, vietnamese food gained a lot of popularity in my country for the last few years, and i see a lot of vietnamese restaurants on the street nowadays... which is a win-win situation for both culture! (i also enjoy them a lot! soup, rice, noodle, seafood, vegetable... viet cuisine offers everything that koreans love 😋) + decent amount of vegetable dishes in south korea uses various random plants that grows in mountain environment, and it is hard to find them outside of traditional market. so excluding that, our choice of vegetables can be limited compared to warmer countries :/ and thats why we dry, steam, boil and spice them up... to make them taste better!

Much of the country is mountainous and unuseable! And hiking in Korea is popular but I’m afraid of heights and can’t do it often because it’s mostly stairs and steep suspension bridges, etc. Most of Seoul is developed, so it’s leveled out but it is really steep in a lot of places. I live in the middle of the country where it’s mostly flat, and there are places with more mountains, too. It just varies. I’m also from a very mountainous place (Tennessee) and it’s a lot different We have more trees and hills and there are more rocky areas here. Depends on where you go!

I like Vietnam the most of these 3 countries I have visited. I have visited Vietnam (HCM City, Da Nang Hue, Hanoi,Sapa, Lao Cai , climbed the 3143 metre high Mt Fansipan). At Loa Cai (5 hour by train from Hanoi), we can cross the border to Yunnan China by walking across a 100 metre bridge. I visited South Korea: Seoul, Busan,Jeju Island, Climbed Mt Halisan at Jeju which take a full day to go up and down. There are so many hiking trails in Korea. The best time to go is November for the autumn foilage. For Germany, only been to Munich. Visited a very sad concentration camp. Many beautiful museums, galleries, a BMW museum and palaces. It is least costly to travel in VN. Less than USD70 for 5 star hotel room for 2. A hearty meal for less than USD 10 in a restaurant, USD3 for a noodle meal in a shop.

It will definitely be worth it. I've been to Busan, Seoul, Daegu and Jeju Island. All really beautiful. If you like nature and taking walks I'd definitely recommend Busan and Jeju. Busan has beautiful beaches and hiking trails along the coast. And Jejus 올레길 hiking trails are famous for a reason.

Uyen, if you wanna see lots of green vegetables, you have to go to local market. Supermarkets don't have many selection

Oh, you have given me so many wonderful flashbacks on my vacation to Korea in May! My experiences were so similar! (I want to go back ㅠㅠ) Having studied the language for two years I am a bit envious about your listening skills, though. I think I must watch more K-Dramas . Thank you, I enjoyed this video al lot!

I love your vlogs - so informative and hilarious 😁 I really want to visit South Korea. In the metro station at Grønland in Oslo, they also have small shops that sell knick-knacks, like in Korea 🤩

I am from Singapore even though our transport system is pretty advanced, I was still very invested in your whole explanation of the Korean system like it’s the first time I am hearing of this concept 😂😂. This is proof of how engaging your personality is ❤😂
