Wow, how can you not have tasted kelewele while living in Ghana? 😄It's actually a snack and mostly eaten on its own. Maybe next time you're in Ghana, you can try it... you might fall in love with it. Before being fried it's saturated in a variety of spices which give kelewele a very unique taste.
Definitely, kenkey is an acquired taste, esp the fanti kenkey. Not all Ghanaians like the sour taste but there are softer versions, really depends on the cook
I don’t know where you buy your Kenkey but the hardness is from how it’s made but it can equally be soft like I said how it’s made by the seller but Kenkey is a bit sour due to the fermentation which is good for your gut like yogurt but with less sugar

There are many different types of rice in Ghana it depends on the one you prefer and we cook okra different ways but the stew you have to add garden eggs

Sandy, the original okro soup does not have palm oil. It's very green and light and usually have a very little tomatoes or none at all but the okro stew have palm oil and is thick. But these days, Ghanaians add palm oil to okro soup which is very wrong. Okro soup should be full of greens like Kontonmire, ayoyo, nyinya and the other vegetables all in one pot. However, this healthy method is dying. People don't do okro soup like this anymore. Sad.
Original?. Be maybe in your house, not the entire Ghana...I have been eating okra Stew from the seventies till now, and the style or recipe are the same, so perhaps in your house they don't add palm oil, but not the entire Ghana.
Sista, with de Okro soup, Ghanaians usually add few/ some tomatoes, and the it's more liquidy but not watery... unlike the stew, which goes with red oil and no/one or two tomatoes to make the Okro slimy... Good 👍🏿job to our half Ghana 🇬🇭 sista...👌🏿✌🏿👍🏿

Kelewele is a mix of plantain and Ghanaian hot spicy, that makes its special. Just try it, it's not just ripe plantain. Judge it not until you taste it 😉
You are wrong. Kelewele is done with ripe plantains...by the way, I'm Ga by tribe, and the food has it origin from Accra, so I know what I'm talking about.

If the kelewele is only prepared using plantain alone then you can not say it originated/specifically from Ghana talking of Ga people especially, cos plantain fries is everywhere in the world. Ginger is one of the spicies they added to it. I never heard kelewele origin is Ga, maybe you misunderstood bcos overtaken the delicacy. Even if it were Ga, doesn't make a automatically judge or historian of it. Plantain is the common food stuff in Africa, Carribbean, south American, and Asians. We have used various ways for food including the same way this popular known kelewele we have in Ghana, the difference is Ghana hot spicy in and I believed to be ginger and some. I eat kelewele in every place I go in Ghana, and imagine the only place I have not gone to in Ghana is western region and Volta region. Raw fry plantain is different from the what kelewele fry other than that it's not not special.

The okro soup comes with the liquid from the cooked okro but the okro stew u have to drain the liquid from the okro before pouring it into the stew for the okro Tomatoes can be added to both but it should be just one (the small tomatoes oooo🙄) Sandie I repeat a small tomatoe. How do you cook and drain okro, will that even be possible? All u need is to measure your water right before boiling the okro, depending on how light or thick u want it
