The most disconcerting thing about owning a luxury car in India is the high levels of stress one has to put up with on account of our bad roads and our dense and horrible driving habits. You or your driver may be very good; but when your car is surrounded by so many idiotic drivers, there's a very high chance of getting scratches and dents. In most of the rest of the world, you can find 10-yr old cars with not a single scratch; but in this cursed country, a brand new car will be lucky to go 3 months before getting its first nick/scratch/dent. India will never be safe for luxury cars. Most of the luxury car owners get up in the wee hours of the morning (like 3am) just so that they can enjoy a thrill ride before the city wakes up.

I look at it this way - I had two daughters, now grown... Feel way more luxurious than any car I have ever owned or could own. Edit1: I own 4 cars. Innova, Brezza, Nexon EV and a SPresso. One car for each member in the family. Never felt a need or desire to buy a 'white elephant'. But am always fascinated by folks who plonk so much money on these. The yearly maintenance cost alone can get you a simple car. Edit2: Maintenance of my 3yr old Innova is about 25K/yr. 4yr old Brezza about 13K/yr. Nearly 3yr old Nexon EV was 3K in last service, but anticipate slightly more in next service. 2yr old SPresso service cost me 4K. These cars, all automatic, put together cost less than a single luxury car to own and maintain. And whole family gets mobility without a sweat. The smallest car, SPresso, is the most pleasurable to drive within the city, especially going to high density areas...

As someone who's been considering purchasing a high-end vehicle, it was eye-opening to learn about all the hidden costs that come with ownership beyond just the initial purchase price. The insights from luxury car owners were especially valuable, as they provided a firsthand perspective on the real cost of owning and maintaining these types of vehicles.
