I'd say shower caddy is actually pretty important- I agree, perhaps not for those who bring a 4-in-one or something, but more often than not, most kids I know have a few things to bring, and it's just easier
for my every day shower i need shampoo, conditioner, soap, and facial soap, four stuff and those are the basic basics. after that is my razor (i have to shave every day or every two days lmfao) and a loofah... yeah, won't be carrying that on my hand. sometimes i even use a scrub... oh, and forgot about the after shower stuff: deodorant and moisturizer
Shower caddy is 1000% necessary. Lol. Maybe not for a guy, but for a girl, if you need shampoo, conditioner, a razor, shaving cream, face wash, etc. you’re gonna want the caddy. My college even had a place we could keep them in the bathroom.
As a girl, I needed the caddy and the full length mirror. I had at least 3 bottles of hair products in there and it made it so much easier to carry around. My roommate brought the mirror and we used the heck out of that mirror. It was especially helpful when we were both getting ready at the same time. One could use the mirror over the sink while the other used the full length mirror. Also as someone who dressed in business wear a lot due to the internships and clubs I was in, that full length mirror was so much more practical than having to take a picture every time to make sure it all looked good and there wasn’t any lint on my clothes.
And the mirrors have gotten a lot better over the years and don't warp nearly as much as they used to. Plus, keep it dry and it'll warp even less (meaning not in the bathroom)
If you have communal bathrooms or have a shared suite bathroom but don’t know your roommates/suitemates, you NEED a shower caddy. How else are you gonna bring your towel, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, shaving razor, shaving cream, and clothes to the shower? I also put disinfectant wipes in my shower caddy cus you know how gross the communal showers are. Its nice to wipe down the surfaces of the communal showers before using it, even if it looks clean. Over fourty people share those 6 little shower stalls, and they only get cleaned once a week at most, so I found disinfectant wipes to come in handy.
@Nutti Okay, bring one for. Body wash, shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, razors, towel, brush, toothpaste toothbrush. Face wash, acne treatment, so maybe take it and not some gross three in one. No wonder some people have dead hair😒
@@the_kleetus-yeeyee48 my hair literally doesnt need anything else than shampoo. You maybe do, but i dont and many males like me do not need a shower caddy to carry one bottle of shampoo. Maybe you need all that, but most of us dont.
@@nuutti8974 for the guy perspective, it makes sense, but girls definitely need one. We carry a lot of hair products as well as a razor, shaving cream, or face wash.
I feel like shower caddy’s are really necessary. You just don’t want your hands to hurt from the shampoo your carrying. Edit: 440 likes dang this blew up
especially when they're slippery from, yknow, the shampoo - I've lived in a dorm for over a year and holy shit i can not and will not live without my caddy
He really exposed his hygiene practices in the shower caddy segment lol. I feel like everyone should have at least shampoo, if not conditioner, some kind of body wash, deodorant, and a face wash. At the minimum. Even then, some people need stuff like lotion, perfumes, shaving stuff, etc
A lot of guys only use shampoo and body wash lol, and most people don’t put on deodorant in the shower. From a girl’s perspective you definitely need one but obviously he was only thinking about his own experience when he made this haha
Okay, hear me out: Get decorative pillows you actually like. Buy in person, if possible, so you can pick textures. They add a nice homey feeling to your bed, and work great if you have a friend crash at your dorm. Also great for putting behind your back while you study and sit on your bed. Shower caddy is a must. Get ready with me nothing, I had shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, q-tips, a razor, and a dollar store nail kit. Plus, the *last* thing you want is to be walking back to your dorm room in a towel and drop your shampoo because your hands are still wet, forcing you to juggle the two bottles and the towel keeping you from flashing everyone. Get the caddy, they're literally at the dollar store. A full length mirror is great if you have the space to put one. Command strips on the back are ideal. It gives you an easy once over before you leave for class so you don't accidentally leave with a major malfunction, and the reflection of the space can help the room feel slightly less claustrophobic. Don't break the bank on it, but mine was like $5 at Walmart and has lasted me just fine.
I got one of the fabric shower caddies and I absolutely loved it. Don’t get the bulky plastic ones if you’re going for space-efficient. The fabric ones at Target are great
@@Sky-qr1ip I used a cute little white wire basket from the dollar store and it worked perfectly. Lightweight, held everything, and the mesh let everything get air circulation
@@Sky-qr1ip I have a plastic one, they’ll also get mold as water will pool in the bottom of them. I just spent this last year having to remember to dump it out after every shower because there wasn’t a place I could put it where water wouldn’t get into it
@@Sky-qr1ipthere were hooks on the outside of the shower, so mine didn't get that wet and I was still able to access my things without leaving the shower. And once I re-entered my dorm I emptied my bag and let it dry. I also sanitized it once a month. Never had any issues
I did a summer camp that simulated college and I’m going to college in one year so trust me - shower caddies rule. I can only speak for myself, but when carrying a loofah, conditioner, shampoo, a razor and a towel it’s helpful to bring one. Plus if you have any small things on you like a watch you can put them in there so they are safer than being on top of a pile of clothes.
Shower caddy was 100% essential for me. All the shower stuff, dental stuff, and smelling good stuff in one spot, you can take it into the shower with you, and on move in and move out day it can help you carry all sorts of odds and ends. Also I liked my mirror, it’s nice to be able to check your full appearance on the way out the door plus it doesn’t take up any space, it’s not like I went to the bathroom every morning.
shower caddy is important. *most* girls have body wash, shampoo, conditioner, a loofa, razor, shaving cream, face wash, and maybe a hair mask or sugar scrub(prolly not) so for 7 things it’s necessary. now boys on the other hand being their like 10 in 1 and call it a day
i would def recommend bringing in a shower caddy (the kinds that can be hanged) so you wont have to put your shower stuff on the dirty floors or the shelves.
Looks like the comments have already addressed the shower caddy so I'll move onto the mirror. IDK about you but I don't have time to set my phone up on the floor to check my outfit. A quick glance in the mirror is FAR easier.
The full length mirror is definitely necessary if you care about how your outfits look most days (aka most women and stylish other genders). It is so much easier than looking at a tiny phone screen, especially if you have poor camera quality
Even if I am not stylish but I still have a full length mirror at home. Helps check if your outfit is looking ok before leaving the house. I can't imagine anyone not having a long mirror 😅 Specially if your staying at a place for years 😃
@@fallenasterExactly! Sometimes the outfit looks good in the head but when you put it on then you realise how horrible it looks 😂 Always better to look at the full outfit before leaving 😅
Shower caddies are inexpensive and don’t take up too much space, especially if you get a mesh/fabric one. No downside to bringing one just in case and like many other comments point out, I agree that they are very helpful to have. Doubly so because you can throw some period products in there and prevent any uncomfortable walks back to your room for supplies.
I don’t bring a shower caddy but I do bring one of those reuseable plastic shopping bags (they’re water proof and sturdy and I bring my change of clothes, towel, washcloth, and shampoo, conditioner and body wash)
As someone currently in college, gonna say, have at least one ‘decorative pillow’ if you like having friends over cuz they don’t want to just lean against the wall, also shower caddy is absolutely necessary, and full length mirror is also a good idea
bro i’ve been out of the dorms for over a year and i still use my shower caddy every day. it has a little detachable basket part to carry if you just need to bring your dental care stuff to go floss/ brush your teeth really quick or you can bring the whole thing for a shower. i use it now cuz i go visit my boyfriend a lot and it’s great to just quickly bring all of my dental care and shower stuff without taking up room in my bag or the risk of it spilling or leaking into my bag. i just throw it in the back seat with my bag and it’s great. so id definitely bring a shower caddy. i rarely saw anyone in the dorms that didn’t have one
For the shower caddy, it depends. I personally don't shave because that's optional, and my skin is naturally really nice so I don't use all the complicated face stuff. All I need is body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. But some people (e.g. my sister) need all the skin products and hair products, in which case you should bring a caddy. Idk, I feel like the comments are divided between "you MUST bring one OR ELSE YOU'LL DIE" and "LOL IMAGINE BRINGING A CADDY U LOSER" and it's like, bro, stop. Some people do, some don't. And if it doesn't feel necessary for you, then fine. If it does, then also fine.
Personally for me the extra desk chair was a necessity. I would spend a minimum of 10 hours a day at my desk either doing homework or working on my side hustle. Most of the time I couldn’t do it on my bed, so my desk was the only option. Along with the fact that my back is probably worth less than the chair I was sitting on, I needed a good desk chair in order to not go to the on campus clinic every 3 days. I have family that work at a furniture company and I was able to get my hands on a very nice office chair for my birthday that year, and oh my god that chair was a life saver. I basically just turned the dorm chair on its side and shoved it under the bed since I wasn’t really using that space anyway. Aside from the carpet I got later on for the room, that chair was the single best investment for my dorm HANDS DOWN.
Full length mirror was a great idea plus it helps open up the space and saves you from running to the bathroom every time you need to check ur self out. Shower caddy is also a good idea because the showers in my dorm had no place to put anything and they save u from putting it on the nasty floor. I recommend getting one that hangs.
Shower caddy is a MUST! I wouldn’t be able to shower without mine. Second, a decorate pillow won’t kill you, it makes the room feel more homey. Also, I love my cheap floor length mirror, makes it super easy to check yourself before you go!
If you do more than 13-in-1, bring the shower caddy guys. Nothing is worse than running back to your dorm in wet flip flops with a slipping towel trying to hold slippery bottles to your chest and not flash anyone
I love this series, and I'm glad to see you doing anything in Minecraft really! I think that's the good thing and maybe bad thing about Minecraft that it can be hard to plan out the future without the game telling you what to do. Also college advice is always appreciated! Thank you and happy Tuesday morning!
As an alternative I would list a soap box instead of a shower caddy. By which I mean a soap shaped plastic container that you put your soap in to carry back and forth bc soap is slippery. Don’t bring a proper gaming type chair like in the picture but when I moved into college I got these comfortable lounging chairs that I could fold up and wedge between the foot of my bed and my wall when I didn’t need them, and I definitely recommend those. Anyway, checking the time I have an exam in half an hour so I should probably catch up on the last few weeks rq, but anyone heading to college soon check out those ideas bc I promise you won’t regret them
As a college student, I disagree- unless you want to be butt naked in front of your roommate and put your towel on the floor of the disgusting bathroom, you’ll want that shower caddy for your bottles (especially as a girl, who simply has shampoo, conditioner, body wash and face wash to use- hands aren’t able to be used there) and then I fit my towel and pajamas in. Get a mesh one and hang it on the towel hook. It’s perfect! I’ve also got my toothbrush and toothpaste ready to go in it. Don’t sleep on the shower essentials.
As someone who isn’t in college but lives in an rv. I don’t have decorative pillows, but my new bed set came with a sham pillow case and two regular pillow cases and I already had a couple purple pillow cases and four pillows that I accumulated after we moved into the camper, but to still make your bed look nice, this is what I did: Two regular pillows with cases that match my fitted sheet, one thin pillow with a purple case, and another thin pillow with a black and gray sham pillow case. Still looks cute but aren’t scratchy. Also a shower caddy is a must when you got shampoo, conditioner, body wash, razor, exfoliating net, toothbrush and toothpaste.
Dude I never regretted my throw pillows. Just get soft big ones if you can so you can make a chair with them on top of your bed like I always did. Squishmallows work well too, but the boyfriend pillow is a must have!
for the girlies and those who love jewelry and full length mirrors: get an over the door mirror that stores your jewelry in it!! it’s helped me SO much!
the caddy is essential! i have three different shampoos due to psoriasis and tangling issues. then a conditioner, bar soap and shower gel depending on how my skins feeling, and a razor, plus a washcloth. ESSENTIAL
Shower caddy is definitely important in my experience 😂 if you’re in the dorms there will be shared bathrooms, why risk losing anything. Not to mention you don’t just keep your shampoo and conditioner in there. Toothbrush, toothpaste, skin/hair care products, shaving cream, razor, rag/sponge/loofa, and anything else you’d want to use in the bathroom in the morning/night like deodorant. There most likely will not be enough storage in the bathroom, so just make it easy and keep everything together in a small portable box. Why bother with carrying everything individually and laying it on the counters where other people most likely have their items as well. Also, dorm bathrooms are not clean. I wouldn’t want to lay my toothbrush down on the counter 😂
Shower caddy is actually pretty useful. I'm thinking about getting one of those small laundry baskets to use as a shower caddy because carrying two towels, shampoo, shower gel, hairbrush, razors and flipflops without it is simply annoying. In my case any extra pillows are not only decorative but also functional. I often have joint pain so I just use those to help with it. Even though there are mirrors in the rooms, I still have my own so I can just do my hair and makeup. For the chair, I simply got one of those thick baby blankets and a small pillow that matches it so it's more comfortable
I bought a decorative pillow spontaneously cause it was a realistic bread loaf I just fell in love with. It somehow was sooo useful in a dorm like you can put it on a bed close to a wall and get this perfect position between laying and sitting. Also it was so comfy to hug it when you sleep. I don't live in a dorm anymore but this pillow is still a life-changer to me. Btw it's thick like those sofa pillows and has oval baguette shape wich is why it's so useful I think
A shower caddy was EXTREMELY USEFUL when I went away for school. In most colleges, especially as a Freshman, the bathroom is located outside the dorm and is in a shared space, so having one to carry your supplies back and forth will be beneficial in the long run. For me though, I shared one bathroom with three other girls, two of whom I shared a bedroom with, so I used a shower caddy to carry all my shower stuff as well as deodorant, perfume, and lotion since I would change in there when I was done.
Shower caddy is a must have you don’t want your stuff sitting on the ground and your going to be caring a ton of other stuff. And a full length mirror in the dorm is super useful just don’t get a over the door hanging one get a normal lightweight one and use command strips
my full length mirror gives me the MOST confidence before leaving for the day, + it makes the room feel bigger! great for apartments or dorms with separate rooms
YOU NEED THE CADDY. A mesh bag that can easily dry will work, too. You can't just carry shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, razor, hairbrush, toothbrush, toothpaste, washcloth, hair towel, and change of clothes.
especially girls BRING A SHOWER CADDY! you'll need it for: -razor -conditioner/hair mask -shampoo -hairgel -facial cleanser -hairties -shaving cream -loofa/sponge -other skincare etc. BRING IT!! especially if you need many hairproducts/different soaps etc.!! and if you have to bring those + shower shoes, clothes, towel, makeup etc. somewhere, your need the shower caddy for sime products!!! it's easier to carry than everything indivitually and dropping to the floor especially if you don't have a good bag to put them in ALSO then have to put then back somewhere from the bag after yout shower when you come back to the dorm. Trust me the shower caddy is very neccesary!
I have a caddy for my body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and my body puff. Yeah I could carry it all there but it all stays together in one spot making it easier for me to remember where it all is when I want it. Plus if it gets wet the wet stays contained. Also a whole second chat can be a bad choice but I got myself a chair that folds up to save space and I love it. I would suggest people go to college for a bit before getting a chair because it might not match with everyone’s lifestyle but I spent a lot of time in my room and I really like movies. Sitting on the floor doesn’t work for me and the uncomfortable desk chair doesn’t either, and I can’t see my screen easily from my bed, so I have a second chair.
If you get a shower caddy thats made of like a mesh fabric you can often fit your clothes in there along with your shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash, toothpaste, toothbrush, and washcloth/loufa/whatever you use. Genuinely don’t know how you wouldn’t be majorly inconvenienced everyday without a caddy. Also, at least in my experience, some dorms come with a full length mirror and if your bed doesn’t have a headboard like mine the decorative pillows work well to stick behind the pillow you actually sleep on.
Will disagree abt the shower caddy, bringing the basics like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and a loofa is already enough, but then also a towel, shower shoes, and anything’s else. Very very useful
I don’t even remember having a packing list. Either way, I just used my brain to figure out what to bring, and guess what?! None of these items were even remotely on my mind lol. I also moved across the country for college, so minimalism is key. Seeing a lot of comments abt shower caddy. So far, shower floor has worked fine for me
As someone who's been in college and waited until year 5 to get a shower caddy, please get one. It was such a pain in the ass (especially in the dorms) to round up everything I needed for a shower and then carry a lot of small loose shower items with me along with the big shampoo and conditioner bottles. It saves so much time to have a caddy and if you're clumsy like me, you're less likely to drop the smaller stuff if you have one.
My notes: Shower caddy majorly depends on what you are taking to the shower because bar soap does not travel well and you’ll want the caddy, but most anything else use your towel as a bundle. And whether your dorm says they’ll provide a chair or not, don’t buy one but plan on the possibility of needing to buy one and plan budget accordingly. That way you don’t buy something you don’t need (and if you are moving for college that’s one less thing to pack), but know you may need it. (Said by someone that the “desk chair” they provided was a rocking chair. Like… Have you tried to pull a rocking chair up to a desk? I got sick of it after about 2 weeks)
My university actually won't LET us bring our own furniture (so a desk chair for example) without getting specific permission lmao- Also the dorm I had last year came with a full body mirror on the wall anyway, and since I'm getting similar accomodation next year it's also gonna have the full body mirror
A shower caddy is very useful. I can carry all your bathroom stuff, not just the shower stuff. Saves you from having to carry it and possibly dropping something.
I have one (1) decorative pillow on my actual bed and while I do push it aside when I sleep, it's really useful for heightening my computer when. I use it in bed
(I’m not in college so correct me if I get this wrong) A shower caddy def seems necessary. Even if you only have shampoo and body wash, You still probably have to carry a towel, a change of clothes, etc. and not to mention if you want to bring conditioner or a razor and shaving cream or whatever
as a college junior living in campus currently I don’t think this is totally the move. lots of pillows is actually quite necessary. Depending on what your dorm looks like, my dorms beds don’t have headboards so we have to use pillows so we don’t knock her heads against the wall. Also, if you’re in any kind of internship or program where you have to dress professionally a full length mirror is like so critical when you’re getting ready in a dark, hot tiny bedroom that you share with four other people. Also, a shower caddy has been so necessary to me I have only ever had communal bathrooms and keeping all of my bathroom. Stuff together has been really helpful.
Imo the shower caddy is pretty important, I use conditioner, shampoo, face wash, body wash, and at least 2 lotions. Also, not in college, but if you really like seeing your full outfit the full body mirror isn’t like he says it is, I’ve had two of those mirrors since I was roughly 4 (17 now) and they’re both not warped or chipped or anything. The only thing is just cleaning them like any other mirror
Get the mirror, after 7 years mine looks fine. They're like $5-$10. You don't wanna be taking a picture in your phone to just glance at yourself every day either. Now the thing that they told me to NOT buy but I totally did and am so happy with my purchase? A printer. Cheapest one I could find at Walmart $35-$40 at the time). Perfect for when you don't have time to stop at a printer because you're running late. Still works like a dream too!
My college had full length mirrors in each room already and still had the idea to suggest one on the packing list. I personally don’t like mirrors (they spook me out😅) so I didn’t get one but sure enough there was one already in the room. Also we had people who would kick your shit if it somehow was outside the shower so the caddy was very helpful in making sure everything was were it should be and no one was playing soccer with your shampoo
