If I had Chip and Joanna redoing my house, I'd make sure I had the budget for the furniture and decor too. To me that's 75% of the beauty of the finished product.
I agree with you. I would do the same. An article I read a couple years ago said the furniture and accessories we see in these homes are very expensive so if the home owner wants to buy them they would need to take out an extra mortgage payment.
I think it's wonderful that most people in the area appreciate how they've helped the town. It's better than the last impression of blowing up women and kids.
One can only assume the obvious that if you have any contractor come into your home its going to cost money and at times more money. I have seem most if not all if the Fixer Upper episodes. I love this couple and its been a pleasure to watch them work their magic.
If I ever got my house done by them I would take pics/videos of everything and try to come as close as possible with the furnishings and decor that get taken away at a more affordable price. 🤑
Some of these things mentioned like the price for renovations which comes from the home owner themselves and the staging decorations as temporary, were mentioned often in the shows. I guess some details are forgotten overtime.
I want to go there and see everything they have done!! It's Wonderful what they are doing to spruce up their own town!! I think we All can contribute to our own towns and keep them viable!! We especially need to do this in this 2021 political and economic climate we are in right now. We don't want America and American towns and cities to fall into disrepair. That will create crime havens and "no go zones," which we do not want. We want to Keep America standing!!!
Most of these shows are contributing to people having a totally unrealistic view of how long these renovations take and the money and effort involved. People want all the best finishes and don't realize the labour that comes with it.
Chip learned the hard back breaking way of doing construction I don't know him but have done this type of work all my life, if anyone thinks it's easy should think twice. Chip have good health insurance
I read an article a couple years ago about whether people keep everything that we see in the remodeling and designing , including furniture, etc. So this isn't news to me. The people are aware of this b4 the program is aired anyway so, its not like its a surprise to the home owners.
Great show-still like to go back and watch them. I would not want them to reno my home since I love the old woodwork and vintage kitchen. I wouldn't want a to the studs reno-I prefer paint and cosmetic changes. Love this couple and their sweet family-I love that they included the kids in their show, so adorable :)
You missed the part where the production covers Chip and Joanna's fees. Meaning that you get an interior designer and a project manager plus the one big ticket item for participating. And a lot of time Joana would add some stuff herself. So yes you pay for the house, the material and labour, but not for Chip and Joanna.

I've really enjoyed watching these people. But it seems to me that in these contracts they want to control what you do with your property if you want their services. I guess I would have somebody else do it then so I can have control over my own property
Spoiler alert! I wish I didn't find out that a. Not all rooms are done in the homes, and b. The finished home does not include the furniture and decor , that that is just for staging. Waaaah, I thought it's all real :(
Only a moron would think that someone walks off the street, sees three homes and agrees to buy one- of course the homeowners have already made their choice. Anyone who wants a more realistic idea of what CAN happen when fantasy runs headlong into reality only needs to check out the original British series Grand Designs. Kevin McCloud does everything he can to convince people that they will need professional help to realize their dream - at least in the case of Fixer Upper, you don't have an accountant who thinks he is a carpenter. If I'm cynical about the show it's when new owners tell the Gaines' duo that this will be their 'forever home', only to advertise it at 10 times the purchase price 12 months later. The romantic in me believes there are enough flippers in this world ;)
I really enjoyed watching until Chip said something to the effect that now that they were wealthy they could concentrate on only doing high end renovations.
In order to have fame you have to participate and use color and symbolism to have success. Warlock amd witch rituals is a must to hollowood tv. Their death and blind and have 5 children as well????
