We got a male MC from the SPCA. Apparently he had been returned twice and the last time with a lot of yelling. He was crushed into the farthest corner of his cage and the staff thought he might not be adoptable. I sat in front of his cage with my hand on the floor just inside. Eventually he came out and sniffed my hand which surprised the girls at the shelter. He hid for the first week but is now a VERY relaxed 16lb cat and is the sweetest boy we have ever had. And sooooooo smart. He communicates his wants very effectively and uses the sweetest trills. We live in an old house and have always had a problem with mice. He is the first cat of many we have had that is a hunter and he is VERY fast. He will come and search us out when he wants attention and is NEVER demanding. Such a good kitty.
Super-size EVERYTHING!!! especially the litter box. And a slicker brush for kitty and LOTS of lint rollers for you! And our cat would only use scratching posts wrapped in rope, he liked really digging in. The carpeted ones were not gratifying so he would end up scratching woodwork and furniture.
Our MC's favourite "toy" is a large brown paper bag from Primark. She hides in it, chases a ping pong ball inside it and best of all she loves being lifted up in it while lying inside and gently swung while we sing "bye baby Gracie" tried other toys and all were donated to other cats. You are clearly devoted to your beautiful fur babies.
I appreciate all the effort you put into your videos and channel. I recently learned about Maine Coons and simply fell head over heels in love. When I am ready to adopt one, I really want to provide it with the best life. Your videos have been very helpful in my research efforts ❤
Great list! I could’ve used this a few months ago when I got my first Maine Coon kitten. I’ve learned quite a bit during that time, but this list is still pretty helpful.
Aww, Luna. Reminds me of every poster-worthy Ragdoll. Awww. I LOVE Albus' mean face. I love the Maine Coon mean face. Only 1 of mine has it. Granted, he looks pissed off 24/7, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
I'm so glad that you made this channel cuz there's not really Maine coon channels out there and I'm probably going to be getting a Maine Coon kitten and I'm excited so thank you for making this video
My first cat also is being a Siberian! It's been a year, any tips or ideas to get her? Rn I bought a 71 inch cat tree and a large scratching sisal fabric post. And obv a few toys
Great video. I don't own a Maine Coon, but have a Norwegian Forest cat. Still I feel almost all of these items are relevant for that and similar breeds too. What do you think about the Catit Feeding Maze? My cats refused to eat for 2 days, but when they got the hang of it, the puzzle really was too easy for them. The same with the Trixie Cat Activity Fun Board - after a few days they started guzzling food again. I've now resorted to using egg cartons for food: I punch one or two holes in them, put food in them and tie them up with a rubber band. It really helps to slow down their food intake and it also makes them more active and playful. It's great fun to watch - especially because both my cats use very different strategies. The main strategy for my European short-hair is to steal food from the Forest Cat. 😹
Maine coons are witty, loving, and hands down best choice IF IF IF you have experience.... to give yourself to them, care for and provide health care and lots of love...they will love you and you will have great life...never get a pet "in the spur of a moment"....plan, plan, plan for this cat particularly
Great video! So many valuable information! As if you made it for me, since my kitten is coming on Wednesday! 😹😹😹 I thought that I bought everything, except for maybe few things for later and after watching this video, I realized that I will need plenty of things "for later". I simply couldn't memorize everything... 😹 Luckily I have enough for the start! Thank you so much for making this useful video!!! 😻😻😻
Thanks. Wonderful. My domestic partner, Sasa (pronounced SHA-sha) was a beautiful Maine Coon and was the smartest and sweetest friend I ever had. After 16 years, she passed last July. I will be adopting a baby MC as soon as I can. Chewy was always good to us. Thanks for the other places you mentioned where I can buy toys and costumes for my new baby to have fun whenever she wants. 🎄😸Happy Holidays to you and yours and Luna, Albus and whoever else is furry in your home. 🐈🎄
This applies to any breed of cat. Sombody needs to build a cat activated power brush. We did not get another cat because we like to take long trips and carrying a cat in a Vette would be much more difficult than a van. We have done the latter.
Very good ideas for stuff to get for a Maine Coon! I believe that my family has more than enough stuff for getting our next Maine Coon! I believe that you probably are aware of my own form of Cat Entertainment. I have not just plenty of Hot Wheels cars, but a good amount of track. The track I have is the old kind of track that was issued from the late 1960s until the 1990s, as it's not the type that has blue circles between the track pieces that Mattel issues nowadays. The orange track I have is from 1968 when Hot Wheels first appeared, originally owned by my mother when she was a little girl. I also have purple track from the 1990s which is something that my parents originally got for me and my older brother Stephen. The purple track from the 1990s is the same as the 1960s orange track, just different colors, allowing for the different colored tracks to be connected. I even got more track pieces off Ebay as well including a booster as well! That'll drive Maine Coons crazy!! Sorry to say that I don't have the Loop-de-Loops. I used to have those, but sadly those were junked in 2008. But anyways, great ideas for stuff to get to prepare for getting a Maine Coon kitten!
Love your videos! We have two 13 week old kittens - a Maine coon and Ragdoll, and we are trying to decide on litter box options. You mentioned the litter robot being shared by all of your cats. How has this worked for you? I know they are expensive, and I was curious about an adult Maine coon's size and if the litter robot would be too small. Also, we were concerned about the longevity and effectiveness with big poos from big cats. Any advice regarding the litter robot?
Thank you! We love ours and although I wish it was a little bigger, it still works great for all of our cats! I know of others with Maine Coons who love their Litter Robot. I plan to do a video update about ours in the future.
We have a stainless steel litter box and use wood pellets as litter for our maine coon mix kittens and it works great! Enjoy your little bundles of love!
Eight Days and counting to we bring our beautiful monster Kitten Maincoon Teddi, We are so excited, We Love her so much already we have only visited her a few times because of the current situation. She is fun and full of life and mischief. Love You Teddi see you Soon Little one.
Which brushed do damage their coats? Which shampoo did you get? How do you like to clean their ears? When did you begin to train your kitten? When do you think training for tricks works best to learn faster?
We have 4 Connies a blue Girl 2 jears old called Gipsy her brother Gismo is cream white and two 7month old white boys called Haku and Loki. The Cat tree we have looked like yours only the brand called different RR Quality and the color we have is gray , it's expensive but you can buy every single part separately that's extremely good because there are one part that is all 2 month broken. But now problem 23 euros and 2 days later it is fixed. And you can make it bigger , we have it make on platform higher. Our 4 makes a lot of work, the Fur of our Gipsy and Gismo needs every single day a brush, but it's ok we know that before we made the decision to take Coonies. There are a lot of things that we have to. The toilet you have is a Awsome thing. Sorry for the bad English I am from Germany LG from the crasy German Coonie family

Attykats.com or attycat.com, I forget, I got mine from them, they are the most worth it and one of the best. They are 2k for one though. But, they are so worth it and you get 20 years of soft cuddly fur and joy.
What that cat is doing what my cat does to my back is so cute a her name is winter but I call her Happy Feet and she's the same color that one on the screen that's too cute

We keep our cats indoors for their safety. There are so many bad things that can happen such as dogs, cars or they could get stolen. But we do like to bring our cats outside every once in a while so they can get fresh air and a change of scenery.
Hey! So I am wondering why my main cone is small for his size? He is 3 years old, hates water, and will NEVER touch snow. He is a main cone because we tested this app out on him and it said main cone, plus he looks exactly like a main cone. He is a super friendly cat, loves attention, but he isn’t like most main cones. If you know if he is a mix or anything, please tell me! ❤️ 🐈
Hi Kaiterade, it depends on the state/area you live in. I've found that some states have a lot more MC breeders than others. I live in CA. and have finally found a great one. (We don't have a ton here). I'm Super excited to get my fur baby. I did a lot of research online, reviews etc. Reach out and talk to the breeders. You may have to have one shipped to you. Just remember there will be fees w/the flight, some even add on a "pet nanny." And most breeders want deposits to hold your spot for your new baby which can run you any where from $500-1K just for the deposit. MC's can be expensive anywhere from 1K-3K. ;-) Hope this helps just a little bit.
Do you have toys for when the kittens want to bite a lot? My kitten is getting into a very bitey phase and although we have many toys I find that none of them seem specifically made to be chewed and for biting. I am curious if you have any toys that you cats like to bite and chew on and if you could show them in a video
We've heard a raw diet is best, but have never tried it. We free-feed our cats a high-quality grain-free diet of dry food and also give them wet food 1-2x a day.
Avoid anything grain-free. These foods have been discovered to cause dilated cardiomyopathy in both cats and dogs, which a deadly heard disease. This is because these garbage grain-free foods are loaded with legumes and lentils, which prohibit the absorption of taurine, an amino acid necessary for cardiac health and function in cats and dogs. If you look at the ingredients of these grain-free foods, the most commonly used ingredient is peas, which is a legume. Run far away from these foods. Our cats and dogs have been eating Purina Pro Plan for over 20 years with outstanding results, and they also get Fancy Feast wet food.
Hi I love your cats! I’m pretty sure that I adopted a Maine coon stop stop but she is still pretty small after a year but looks like a kitten still should I still be feeding her kitten food after a year? She really liked the Royal Canaan kitten food I recently switched to Royal Canaan digestive care and she does not seem to be liking it.
When you push out their claw, you can see the pink/blood line and you should clip just before that. Or else it’ll bleed. We have a video trimming Molly’s nails on our RU-vid channel if you’re interested.
You can find a Maine Coon breeder by looking on cfa.org or tica.org. Many breeders are on Instagram and Facebook, which is how I found Moose’s breeder. Our Maine Coons are all European Maine Coons. Do lots of research. Expect to pay anywhere from $1,000 to $4,000 for a purebred kitten. It may take a while to find a breeder who has what you’re looking for. A good breeder will be proud of the Maine Coon breed and will want their kittens to go to good homes. A good breeder doesn’t make a lot of money breeding because the money they make goes back to their cats. Avoid backyard breeders. How a kitten is raised is everything! Many breeders require a deposit to hold a kitten or have a waiting list. Ask questions, ask for references, ask to FaceTime to see the kittens if something feels off. Be careful of scammers. Hope this helps. Good luck!
