hey sir, I really appreciate your help, may I know if the seller can play with battery cycle and percentage as they do with Iphones? I finally saved to buy a mac book after years of savings! the seller is saying that this device is mdm, though he has a warranty but I'm still afraid I get scammed, thanks!
@@tarik607The company that owned it last will have to remove their profile first before they give it to you. After that there’s two things I would check to make sure it’s fully removed. 1) Go to settings and lookup “Profiles”. It should say no profiles installed. If there is have them removed it. 2) Reset the computer and on the setup screen connect to a WiFi network. If a remote management screen comes up next after connecting to WiFi screen then it’s still MDM locked. On their end they should be using some remote management software like “jamf” and will need to login to their account and remove it remotely. After they remove the remote management software you need to reset the computer again.
I really want to try out Mac as I have been saving for this but so far I can afford only 2nd hand. This video is a blessing and I hope I can do all this 😂😢
I have recently purchased MBP Pro 16 M1 from ebay. Waiting for it to arrive and apply these steps. I believe I have done due diligence to not get scammed, but I know anything is possible on internet. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the video.
@@hypno0784 Overall, I am pleased with the model I received. It had 93 battery cycles. I had one small ding on the left side of the corner which has a slight bump. Rest of the laptop is without any major scratches. As advertised, laptop came AppleCare+ until Nov 2024. 1 yead e-bay refurbushed (AllState) also valid (only repairs, no accidential coverage). Everything is working good so far. I have only noticed one thing with auto brightness on screen but I need to test it thouroughly. Overall, I am satisfied. Price of it I believe was on a higher side but M1s do hold their values and AppleCare+ helps justifying the price premium.
Sorry guys. I paid ~1469 (befoer tax) for it. Apart from a dent in the corner of left hand palm, it turned out great. Battery cycles at 93 with 96% capacity. I have not used it to the full extent of its capacity but overall it turned out to be great. AppleCare+ is also available till end of October this year. But since everything is working fine, I have not used it. Hopefully I get an option to extend it. Let me know if you have any additional questions.
You forgot to mention to check if the macbook is mdm locked. You’ll only find out when you get the continous pop ups for extetnal control of the company.
Excellent video. I have a few questions. 1. How do you check for repaired screen. 2. How to know if laptop is refurbished 3. How to check if laptop had water damage? 4. Do you have a list of what you covered in like a pdf? Thanks for your help!
1) A third party screen would not have an apple logo. It is possible that it might be replaced with one from another macbook, which in that case I would check the hinge. Make sure it closes all the way and don't make any snapping noises. 2) Most laptops that are re-sold are technically "used". Some may have replaced batteries. If the cycle count is low thats a good sign its been recently replaced. 3) The keys on the keyboard will likely be sticky. You may have to unscrew the bottom off to see if there's any corrosion on the board. 4) Unfortunately no. If your concerned I would recommend buying from a shop. Your likely going to pay more for it, but most shops have a 90day-1 year warranty for defects like you mentioned.
Thanks for your reply man. For question 1) What do you mean by a third party screen wont have apple logo? Do you mean that when it turns on it won't have apple logo and behind it the black background?@@TerrysTechTips
yo do i need to check with the recovery mode, that firmware password thing when the seller already reset the macbook? Or can i skip that? Would appreciate an answer, i meet the seller in 1 or 2 days✌️
You should be able to check it without resetting the computer. If you shut down the computer and hold Comand-R and a lock icon shows up its firmware locked. If not then it’s not firmware locked. The computer’s data only erases when you go into disk utility and wipe the hardrive.
Potentially. The way I check this is after the WiFi page on the setup screen it should take you to a data and privacy screen. If it instead says remote management then it’s MDM locked.
Bro really need help i found macbook old like 2015 everything is good but i see situation smart Not checking it is normal thing or not what different between checking and no checking
Very useful video and channel Terry. Subscribed! Would you say $1000 is a good price to pay for a MacbookPro, 13", M2, 8GB, 256GB, 8 months old, low cycle count (10), good-as-new condition + Magic Mouse? TIA!
The serial number can't be changed, but someone could replace the bottom of the computer with another plate that has a different serial number. If your concerned I would check by the serial number in the "about this mac" section.
13 inch M1 MacBook pro 47 cycle count, 100% maximum capacity, 16gb ram and 512gb storage. Is 1050 USD a good price? Any idea how much a new one like this costs?
Hi , thanks for the video. Just a question if possible. Can there be fake MacBook pro’s ? Just found M3 max somewhere for quite cheap and I am not sure what to think of it. Any advice? Maybe it’s stolen ? Can I know if it’s stolen if it’s unlocked and no Apple ID signed in ?
Great video man. What Mac pc is best to be purchased as used PC. Mac pro core i7 500GB/16GB or Mac air M2 250GB. Considering value for money and just for school work.
Heya! Super appreciate your help through this video. I recently bought a refurbished MBA 2020 M1 8-Core 16GB/512GB (from Backmarket) for £550 (around $700) and I am really worried with the battery health (89% with 417 cycle counts when I received it). Is it still worth it in 2024 or should I just return it? Is replacing it with MBP 2020 M1 8-Core 8GB/512GB a better option? I am not a gamer or content creator - the need is daily office tasks and minor graphic design jobs for next 2-3 years. Thanks!
For what your using it for the Macbook Air is just fine, especially with 16gb of ram and 512gb of storage. Also 89% battery health is pretty good for a used macbook. Most of the ones I've seen are around ~85%.
Good info, currently I am planning to get a secondary laptop c2d windows laptop and no battery backup for 30$ from a whole sale lot, is it a good deal?
