We just got home from our Holland American cruise yesterday. The day we were in Juneau it was warm, never got a drop of rain all seven days which is unheard of in AK. We went on a helicopter ride that landed on a glacier. Which HA ship were you on? There was no Wonderland restaurant on our ship. We did stop in Tracy’s crab shack my step dad had to try their crabs. Fun to watch other peoples experience, vs my own.
Sounds like you definitely had an amazing experience as well! We sailed with Royal Carribbean’s Ovation of the Seas. Sounds like we both got lucky with the weather! Thanks for watching!
What cruise ship were you on? My apologies if you mentioned it and I missed it. Yes, the glacier has been receding. When I visited it in 2007 on board the Celebrity Infinity, it looked totally different. And Mt Roberts was my favourite place in Juneau.
Was born & raised in Juneau. There are only a few days like that a year. Glad you caught it on a good one! I used to swim in that glacier water w/ my siblings too. We were young & foolish
Wow! Swim in that ice cold water?? I cannot imagine! What a blessing to live in such a beautiful place! And yes, I’m grateful for that weather as it was perfect!!
What month did you do the cruise to Alaska? How far in advance did you ave to book the cruise? What did the cruise cost? Was the weather cold? It seems like it might be cold with the snow in the distance and the ice in the water. We cruised in Baja Mexico, the Caribbean, in Europe on the Danube River, and in New Zealand. Cruising is an excellent way to visit different areas. Much nicer and less hassles than land based traveling. Alaska might be our next cruise. But we’re a little concerned about the cold weather after we moved to Florida and acclimated to the warmer Florida weather.
Thanks for watching! We cruised in June and booked almost a year out. This cruise was a special cruise called the “Presidents Cruise” for Royal Caribbean so it definitely costs more. The weather was perfect! We are Floridians as well so the summer was a perfect time to cruise!
@@SideHustleCruisers yes we did. It was cooked over applewood coals and covered with a teriyaki glaze if you wanted. I was trying to get the recipe. Lol
Hey Cruisers, me & the wife did an Alaska cruise July 2022. The Mendenhall Glacier & Nugget Falls was an excellent excursion. We did stop by Tracy’s King Crab Shack for lunch. Thanks for sharing these precious memories.
This is beautiful views and weather! Whale sighting!!! 🐋. Love it. 5 ships in ports. Wow! We have Alaska on our bucketlist. 10pm at night and the sun is still out! Wow! Thank you for taking us with you!
Well done video. We are going on an Alaska cruise in June and Juneau is on the our ports of call. We will.see those glaciers cause of this video. Thanks!!
Enjoyed your excellent video. Our cruise is in June and looking forward to it. I have difficulty walking so I’m hoping to maybe rent a wheelchair or maybe one of the pedicabs 😊
we're going to Alaska I August with Royal Caribbean...I hope it doesn't rain! I really wanna do the falls n hike but R.C doesn't offer this. I think Uber is callin to get us to the visitor centre
Hi, there! We’re planning a cruise to Alaska next September. We always cruise with Royal Caribbean. What ship did you choose? We don’t know if on a cruise to Alaska it’s better a small ship, like Brilliance, or a big one, like Ovation or Quantum. Your video was excellent!!! Thank you for sharing!
Aww thanks for watching! We are personally fans of larger ships with lots to do. This is why we chose the Ovation. However, with views as beautiful as Alaska has, I don’t think you will be disappointed either way! Happy Cruising!
Thanks for this video. It would have been interesting to know the average cost per person on such a ship. It is good to know that it is possible to see a lot around one place and not be compelled to travel several hours to reach each place.Thumbs up!
Thanks for watching. As you know, cruise prices fluctuate A LOT and most summer cruises are expensive. We booked this cruise in December 2021 for appx $800pp. After January, the prices almost doubled because this was a specialty cruise (Royal Caribbeans Annual Presidents Cruise). We booked as soon as we heard that which was BEFORE it was announced to the general public. It was well worth every penny spent. Absolutely beautiful!
We'll be there in 11 days - assuming neither of us tests positive for Covid before leaving! I don't think the sunset will be as late as yours, unfortunately.
So I've been living in Alaska now for a little over 5 years. I started living in Juneau then eventually moved to the interior of Alaska and I can tell you. One of the hardest things about living to convince a small child That it is 12 o'clock or 1:00 in the morning. They do not believe you and they think it's normal daytime.
Hi! We'll be doing the Holland America cruise in several months. I'm just wondering if the view you showed with the waterfalls was part of the walking trail tour that supposedly requires a mile walk on a trail? Thanks for your reply.
Yes! In order to get the close up views of the waterfall in Juneau, we did have to walk that trail. It wasn’t a bad walk at all though. However, there is a view from a distance if taking that trek is too far. Thanks for watching
Other than visiting Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau and a train ride in Skagway (check out that video), we mostly self explored because it was our first time in Alaska. Thanks for watching.
Great video you got some of our great and beautiful scenery, but don't be affraid of bears, they are affraid of people, and glacier bears have grown up around people, just don't feed or approach them!
