Rochester truly is a beautiful city. Thank you for painting my hometown in a positive light. Sadly the negatives are usually highlighted, but I loved every minute of this video. Well done.
@@RudderlessMedia Well to be fair the city struggles with high rates of violent crime and childhood poverty. The public school system is notoriously poor. The economy is stagnant. The city remains rather racially and socioeconomically segregated and it has fallen from roughly the 25th to the 50th largest metro area in the U.S. since the mid 20th century due to deindustrialization. Rochester was once an innovative tech hub, a version of Silicon Valley in the last generation’s economy. Kodak, Xerox, Bausch & Lomb, Western Union, Gannett newspapers, and a huge division of General Motors called Rochester Products were all headquartered in the city. All of them have either moved away or collapsed. The prosperity left with them. Those are the negatives. Despite it all, Rochester has persevered. As you saw, the city remains vibrant and seems to be turning a corner towards a positive future. At least I hope it is. I moved a few years ago and miss it every day. It’s a wonderful city the locals often don’t appreciate until they leave. Thank you again for visiting.
Well done, man. You have a good voice and solid video style. A little surprised you didn’t get to the artisan Works. It’s a cool place I’ve been there, is worth a video by itself. Cheers.
I remember when I lived in Rochester that I made it a point to get away every weekend. If you somehow end up here and you like good beer, stay the hell away from Genesee and, as you can see, the food is all salty fatty greasy around here. Some good places here though: George Eastman's house, the Strasenberg Planetarium across the street (not seen here - best in the country), the big falls they're calling High Falls now, Highland Park, Mt. Hope cemetery across the street (not seen here), the Strong National Museum of Play and the Memorial Art Gallery. Best bet: Head down to Letchworth and find your way into the gorge leading up to the big falls there. Well produced video.
Nice presentation ! The George Eastman estate is incredible !! The Bachelor did alright for himself ! I will have to see when I come to Rochester from Chicago.
