This was the Things We Said Today panel at the Fest for Beatles Fans at the TWA Hotel, February 10, 2024. Ken Michaels, Darren Devivo and Allan Kozinn were joined by Allan’s McCartney Legacy co-author, Adrian Sinclair, to discuss Paul’s penchant in the mid-70s (i.e., the period covered in The McCartney Legacy Vols. 1 & 2) for recording outside London. [Thanks to Andy Nicholes of the Two Legs podcast for taping the session. Apologies for any sound issues - this was a live event.]

If sound quality is like this I will pass on the next discussion. These guys really phone it in to their podcast. They don’t care about sound quality whatsoever and they need to take ownership of the quality of their podcast

And terrible sound making it a chore to attempt to listen. Kenny and Darren are professional radio guys and they can’t set up their microphones appropriately. Terrible professional standards

Tony Visconti had a serious case of "Beatles incest". His first wife was Mary Hopkin. His second wife was May Pang.

Kudos to author Adrian Sinclair. Interesting how much denial the THINGS WE SAID TODAY pod casters have towards anyone stating Paul McCartney intentionally tried to incorporate the New Orleans brass band sound, Fela Kuti;s Afrobeat sounds. McCartney also went to Nashville for the same reasons in 1974 (Juniors Farm).

There is really nothing we can do about the sound, and I included a caveat in the description box. It is a live recording from Fest, and this is what the raw tape sounds like. The alternative would have been to have not posted it, but since we had Adrian with us and it was an interesting discussion, we felt that the sound problems notwithstanding, it was worth posting -- with a warning in the info box so that people who want pristine studio quality sound have the option of not watching it.

@@thingswesaidtoday-abeatles9321 you guys have great content. Your lack of any kind of production standards is troublesome and disrespectful Did the Beatles ever release a bad quality recording ? Never. You have billionaire Peter Jackson saying to himself ‘they can’t even set up their mikes correctly ‘. Kenny Michaels spends hours preparing Beatles news and you guys can’t spend an hour or two fixing your mikes. Disgraceful

@@thingswesaidtoday-abeatles9321 Adrian traveled all the way from England and you guys can not even set up his Mike correctly. How horrible ? Would it really have been that difficult ? Why the lame production standards and weak pre set up organisation ? the guy traveled 7 or 8 hours out of his way to attend your podcast and you can’t set up his mike correctly. What a horrible slap in face to a great guest and fantastic co author. Sorry to be so direct but Anyone who puts out a horrid sound like that shouldn’t be making podcasts

Paul absolutely sucker punched jimmy McCullough in the face at the Boston gardens in 1976 when he refused to play an encore. Jimmy cried like a baby in Linda’s arms. It was a perfect left hook according to Thaddeus Richard Joey English was a heroin addict who left because of his addictions and lack of cheeseburgers

This is amateur hour in terms of any kind of professionalism via sound quality minimum standards Horrible job and two of these podcast hosts are radio professionals. Very poor job. Anyone with half decent standards would be ashamed of themselves. Poor job

You’ve already told us this under another of your fake names. Don’t you have anything better to do? You have an unrealistic notion of how much control we have at a live event, which we weren’t even counting on being recorded, until Andy from TwoLegs offered to videotape it at the last minute. We included a warning about the sound, and most people made the choice to either skip this episode or listen for the info despite the sound issues. Except you: you’ve made it your mission to comment multiple times under your various personas. The show is not going to sound any better 0:09 no matter how often you tell us how often you tell us you hate it. You’re absolutely free not to listen. Try that.

@@allankozinn192agree to disagree. My standards of professionalism are sharply at odds with yours. That was a poor job of uploading and recording. For professional podcasters it was unacceptable. Mary Alice Williams agrees with me and is going to speak to Paul and apple about it

@@opticscolossalandepicvideo4879 When you say "professionalism" and "professional podcasters" -- are you under the impression that we're paid to do this, which is part of the distinction between what you do professionally (i.e., as a profession) and what you do as a sideline hobby? We're not; in fact, doing this, at whatever level you in your exalted capacity as ...what?... want to judge it as, actually costs us. Nor are you charged for it. We do what we can with the equipment and material we have. I can't believe you're still on about this. The Brits have a word for someone who complains endlessly about something they're getting for free -- wanker.
