When I was more regular in NYC I always found a pretext to contact my consulate, UN representation or culture centre. There was always a kind person giving me new trends or - when at came to coffee - send me to a real coffee country rep, like Italy, Austria Spain or Brasil…Carolina have you ever checked in with Latvias NYC offices, or Brazils?
Ah, 3:30 regarding taxis, 1) Hotels are a good spot to catch one, enter the hotel wait a minute (or use bathroom😉) leave and ask the doorman to call you a cap, they know what to do. 2) Don’t open google maps in the taxi when you are an international visitor with your domestic SIM card inside the phone, the roaming fee will kill you!!! Better load a free internetless app like maps me.
