I sell jewellery made with only 9ct ,10ct , sometimes 12ct when I can get it, then 14ct, 15ct , 18ct , and very rarely 22ct all gold 24ct is $2,350 ish in British £1,850 ish in 25th June 2024. Sometimes platinum it's not hard to get hold of platinum. The thing is platinum is a solid state object it's a crafter's dream to work with this metal and sell like most I started out with silver and base metals you soon want to get out of the base and silver lines because of all the women doing it in clubs and colleges tech students who need a bit of extra cash and it's nothing like gold platinum which cannot be hollow out like gold can be molded and shaped to go further than platinum. Where has platinum it's molecular structure doesn't allow a hollow structure in jewellery, you get what you pay for. If it says 5 grams or 10 grams it's heavy if making a pendant and chain seven to ten grams it just a lot of machinery to press pull and roll to a thinner thickness. That's why I can buy platinum for £900 is 1 ounce and a third to £3,000 this is 3 ounces nearly 4 in the quantities I want buy , but to make such jewellery it comes with a pretty hefty cost because of extra labour hours put in polishing. That's in dollar is with for 10 grams plus tax and considering it's $600 to buy when if you buy a Troy ounce it's nearly $800 you sometimes make a loss you tend to pick and choose those orders you make and that metal could be sitting around for a year maybe. Where as gold hollow or solid semi remember it's gotta have some other metals in it too balance out for strength not to brittle I did a stall and made most money by putting batteries in watches than bespoke rings I don't make chains i buy them now to old and to inpatient all that rolling and twisting gold and heating it up and twisting again and again it's a young person game chain making. I find that buying gold is a chore when they want something of a price per gram they saw 8 years ago. I have been in shops when they buy some gold at has scrap for has little has £6/£7 per gram or $10 and giving old ladies £90 or $115 ish for seven or eight rings with diamonds and other gems in them this is a no no they will clean it up. If you want to sell gold ring invest in some metal cutters the small size ones and take out stones because these shops will polish up gold to a new sheen, and sell as new. Some do this, for the mark up and some clients see their rings and chains in the window and they are asking 10 to 50 times to hundred times more. I once bought a red stone in a pendant my gem machine that tells you if it's ruby, emerald, topaz, and so on yes these machines do exist and they are cheaper than you think my last one was £300. I told her that it's a ruby just by my loop mag x 30 but insisted that I buy it I gave after she told me that it was her grandma's and I said this is British gold made two years ago because of the date letter and the gold standard makings you get on British gold it was 18ct and they put very good stones in 18 . first I used my Gem 3 stone detector device you can also cheat by using a diamond tester by placing the pointer on the stone it will not reach the diamond setting and beeb but will go from 4 to 7 giving a rough idea of topaz, can be a 5 or 6 garnets could be a 4 to 6 then a ruby and sapphire a 9 or a mossanite will touch 9.15/9.20 plus but not set the tester off, of a diamond will go to all diamond alarms bells glass will not register and flux powders made costume fake gems. I don't buy fake man made stone's there is enough real stones out there to make a living. On a video a man went from selling real diamonds to man made he sells 5ct to 25 ct fake diamonds for hundreds of thousands of $$$$ in my mind this shouldn't be happening but shops now carry such jewellery with these stones. Sorry about the rant and taking up some space in your chat on your RU-vid channel. I'm thinking of going to go back to classes at night or day school at a local college to refresh my detailing in drawing and designs a new. I been making jewellery for on and off for forty years and I seen gold prices go from £200 ish to almost £3,000 ish now at £1,850 ish today Love mom

Thanks for your input, that’s definitely a lot of valuable information!! I personally recommend starting out buying silver jewelry and working your way up given the fact that gold has gone up exponentially as you have stated as well. I can’t wait to start working with gold and platinum though!! I will be making another video like this specifically about gemstones very soon!!
