Was looking at a manual E92 M3 or a manual M240i just under a year ago as my main car, went with the M240i in the end as couldn't justify the TRIPLE price for insurance, hopefully in a couple years time I might make the swap, but absolutely in love with the B58, especially with the eventuri intake.
@@kierantilley2590 yea but bigger sidewall means more flexing, poorer handling (and yes better comfort), you'd only get more grip if the tyre was wider, which of course you could do with a 19" wheel. I have heard that smaller wheels will give slightly better acceleration and steering response due to them being lighter, but not better grip.
@@user-wz4fw2ws1s all true M cars are NA. The F series is when M division went down hill. It’s a nice car don’t get me wrong but it’s in a completely different category to the e92. Not as raw, doesn’t handle as well, response is completely different. Everything after the e92 was for the usual business man that liked cars too. It’s not an enthusiast car IMO 🤷♂️ now if you build the m2 for the track then yeah it passes the vibe check
Rod bearings have been known to go before 60-70k, don't leave until then if you haven't done them. If the bearings have been changed for ones with bigger clearances, then they shouldn't need to be changed again. Nice car anyway😎
Yes the UK car tax system is totally illogical. You can buy newer cars with twin turbo V8s and the annual tax is much much less. I would have bought one of these but the unfair annual road tax stopped me. I refuse to give the UK government £630 every year for a classic car that will probably only do around 2-3000 miles per year. The government should do a discount scheme for cars that do a limited annual mileage.
Road tax should be done on Mileage imo. Ridiculous that people who barely drive these cars are paying more than someone that’s sat in an old diesel doing 60k a year.
@Anonymous I am not from the US. I live in London. The Uk car tax system is illogical. There are newer cars pumping out more CO2 than the E92 M3 and yet they pay less tax per year. Also a 15 year old classic car should have a discount scheme based on the very limited mileage it will be doing in the vast majority of cases.
These Cars where 50-65k depending on spec when new. Could only dream of that now lol Also I think these will drop a little more before seeing an eventual increase in value due to what I think will happen economically in the next year. But it's just a hunch.
Can't wait to see what the Government will put the road tax up to next year. It's the same £630 for my C63 but it's only just over £100 a liter lol! Thinking I might get one of these next.
Absolute money pit, get a BMW warranty to cover the cost yeah 200 a month. The car is alot of money for little performance.Stay away from them.Tiny petrol tank, were your local garage knows you by first name,
@@incognito96 I've owned my one for 4 years now, so yes I am being very real 😛. Only thing I've spent money on beyond wear and tear (brakes, tyres, servicing) is replacing the rod bearings and cam cover gaskets. So not such a money pit so far.
@@Assimilator1 then you know yourself , when the fuel bong comes on everytime. I know ive owned one as well. Rod bearings actuators bmw .warranty. road tax crap value for performance. Only good thing was the balance and noise.
@@incognito96 I agree they're thirsty (but the tank isn't small), especially compared to the more modern 6cyl DI turbo's, but I think that's pretty typical for a NA V8. Road tax is ridiculous, that's 1 reason why I SORN mine through the winter. Oh, and my car's actuators were done by the previous owner 👍
It’s about to happen for me and I’m excited. I’m getting a baby to! 2012 coupe black on red interior DCT and the best part. Only 40k miles. I also have an M4 with 20k miles.
Well isnt this an original vid😆. But there isnt much you need too know other than 1. Utterly slow and most likely get destroyed by a mapped golf gtd or some bmw 140i driven by a pubescent teen 2. Fuel is just a joke, Tax is a joke 3. Performance parts are expensive unless you suck of Eventuri 😆 4. Did I mention that they are slow? 5. Rod bearing I'm sure there are more but yeah the car is just meh
Mapped Gold GTD?? Get real!🤣 And how is a 0-60 of 4.6s slow??🙄 2. Agreed, that's why they shouldn't be dailyed 3. Yep, so don't bother. 4. Utter BS 5. Yep, get them changed (once) with the right bearings.
Hi hope you enjoyed your Nando’s tonight with your two mates. Yeah that chilli jam is a bit hot gets me all the time too. Keep up with the great videos
No EDC? I certainly thought you'd of gone for that. I was lucky with mine. 47k miles. Individual sound. Extended leather. EDC. DCT. Dream spec. Just got evolve straight through on.
@@DaleSteel Rarely isn't never, and yea it adds value, but don't forget the non EDC cars are cheaper to buy in the first place. I'm not bothered by the lack of edc, it handles just fine as it is, I'm not saying it's as good as the EDC cars of course. But it's fine by me.
@@danhall5761 yea i just sold 1 for a f10 m5 but my old m140 was still faster than both but ngl i agree with the sound but when they pass you.... but when i sit in 1 on the motoway they do drone a lot
@@Devrim283 😂… for example, an 500hp cost 1.300€ + another tax up 250cv called SUPERBOLLO -> 3700€.. so approximately 5000€/year.. after 5 years tax decrease a little
Main things anyone should know about these cars is that they are absolute moneypits and have little low down torque whilst having a very plain, dated interior.
The interiors in the next generation are actually a step down in build quality and materials from the E series, look at the early reviews. The interior design still looks fresh and timeless imo.
@@tracktimevideos5164 Perhaps fresh was the wrong word, but they have still aged well like the E46 and still a nice place to sit 15 years later if in good condition. The F80 interior is a bit generic in design like any other 1/2 series. E9x M3 also used top quality Novillo leather.
@@mp1952 what are you on about? I never said they weren't collectable. There are millions of BMW fanboys so even an ugly 1series is collectable, the V8 however is not a reliable engine at all and as for them being 'drivers cars' .......far from it as standard as they are so heavy.
