One negative you say is that they look plain standard. It's also good for those that want to go under the radar in this thing. Truly a wolf in sheeps clothing. And if you want to stand out, you don't need much to make these look great. This one in purple is a clean and simple build that looks great.

Mine is due this month. M135i about 5 years ago was like 400 a year. Renewal of the m140i is 700 this year 🤢 That's standard cars as well

I almost feel like BMW never intended for these cars to be a proper hot hatch, as they didn't really change anything major over a 120d other than shoving a massive engine in it- one of the last proper big engine small car combos- guaranteed future classic!

I had mine four years and the fuel injectors gave up so had a 5 cylinder. Also my oil filter completely dissintegrated when i was getting it serviced (I was lucky amd none of it got dragged through the engine). Also had a random control module shit the bed so i couldnt select a drive mode or anything and both window regulators broke withing a week of each other. Mine never went near a garage without costing a grand and i loved it.

Really don’t rate the m2 style front bumper on these, doesn’t match the rest of the car at all. An M2 has the wider arches, aggressive body lines to match, this just looks naff. The colour however 🔥🔥

I believe if your interested in the 140 the 340 is supposedly to have cheaper insurance rate due to it not being written off and also having x drive (arguably better looks imo)

I like the plain look. As a 32 year old I am now in that category of wanting to have something with good performance but not look like I spend my days walking through the aisles of Halfords. Some lowering springs and an upgraded exhaust is perfect 👌 😊

Absolutely great car, especially when you start doing some handling mods + LSD. They're just far too common for my liking. Would rather go for a M240i for that reason alone

I bought one the other day to replace a 987 Cayman because I need rear seats. Insurance is twice as much! I was shocked. Loooooverly drive though. Carplay would be nice, but bluetooth to play my tunes through the HK audio is good enough for me

Had a 2019 m140i shadow edition it was a lot of fun, but seriously if nothing else get an LSD done and maybe suspension. Love the B58 and ZF 8 so much so that I initially did consider another higher spec M140I but ended up with a fully loaded Z4 m40i, all the m140i best bits in a sharper suit, modern interior plus tech 😊

I got the dreaded coolant loss on the small tank one min can be ok then it just goes, had compression test done and all good and no drops anywhere on floor etc so been told prob need new turbo as going through that and out exhaust... plus i actually prefer mine without the diff, what people dont understand is that if you leave traction on etc its very hard to get the back end out, but turn it off and thats where things get twitchy bum. All the videos i have seen where they have crashed you can tell they have traction fully off, they back side is just fish tailing everywhere 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I bought the m140i cause they were a sleeper and ended up selling it cause it was a sleeper. This lack of android auto, boring seats and no lsd are the biggest dissapointments. Thanks for the video!

I've had a manual LCI M240 for 3 years, mostly because the insurance was half the price on a 140, naturally I've done a few mods Stage 2 plus Dyno tune sports cat Mst intake Spacers Fully adjustable coilovers Uprated tyres (F1 asymmetric 6) Ebc brakes Plus the carbon tarty bits The car is probably less fun and more shocking now, even in 1st I don't get wheelspin when booting it and the car just sticks It's way easier to drive than stock, The torque curve is less diesel like than before but it's lost a bit of that maniac charm for me, fancying a tyre shredding Jag or AMG next

I have a M240I and I love it. But you gave it a bit too much hate. The interior quality is better that a Golf, the seats are the same as in the classic M2 and the front bumper on this car is M2 style, not M2C style.. But the rest was true.

I like mine looking standard. People think it's a regular 1 series until it leaves them for dust. The analogue dials are plus point for me, as is the round steering wheel.

I definitely wouldn't describe the 140i as standard looking or bland at all, it's far from that, plus the interior quality is the best in class by far but it does lack on tech those comments were unfair for sure.

Needs the WLAN port. It for sure is more complicated but definitely possible ✅. Also on non evo or non wlan business units it can still be fitted using an MMI interface.

I honestly prefer real dials. Really nice spec overall,especially the wrap. I also prefer the low key look. OEM+ is the way to go.

I need to readjust the front bumper it’s not the bonnet, it’s just so fidgety as it’s not an OEM part and it’s getting colder I cba to bother, it annoys me to fk though!

The only negative experience I had was the harsh ride. It’s just far too firm. Makes daily driving unpleasant. Admittedly I didn’t spec the dynamic suspension. Just a heads up to any prospective buyers:)

When they first came out , they was so cheap . I bought one brand new in 2017 and i only paid £26300 ,was a good car especially for the money . Really miss the low down torque

The traction control saves you before you even realise though, in sports + rhe rear is playful but predictable. If you're not used to it than I get why it puts people off, it's not confidence inspiring 🤣

A lot of the things that make these great you seem to see as downsides. Yes, an lsd is a must but digital dials suck, shouty exteriors suck and so does 4 wheel drive. All things that make these a better package than your A45 and golf R

I have the xdrive version and I love how understated it looks compared to my ex GR Yaris. Btw the xdrive is definitely not as sketchy as the RWD, but it's actually quite tail happy being AWD compared to other AWDs that I've driven. The biggest problem to me is the lack of ACC since you can't get it at all.

Good video. I’m glad these cars don’t have CarPlay,mood lighting etc,it’s just not that important. you should be focused on the drive experience not a flashy dash or dicking about with your phone If you want all that rubbish then buy something else.

What do you guys thing about the comparison Golf 7.5R vs. BMW 140i? I owned for the last 4 years a Golf 7R which I want to exchange for an Golf 7.5R or an BMW 140i. I will definitely both test driving but do you have clear pros and cons for each of those cars? Which one would you prefer if you could choose? I prefer the looks of the VW but the engine of the BMW.. Thank you in advance!

I owned both , the Golf R puts the power down perfectly (4wd) the M140i does not due to all power going to the back and it is very sketchy at times and you have to always be alert being in UK where roads are always wet. So that might put you off. So get one with LSD. But the b58 engine wins all the way, it sounds and performs amazingly. Regardless what tyres you have you have to always be ready for the rear to surprise you.

I went from a 7.5R to an m140i, Had the R from new and done a few thousand miles but got bored of it after a couple months The golfs have no personality they just drive themselves, The m140’s are 10 times more fun Dodgy? yes, but if you know how to drive it will be no issue! Also find the 140 to be better on fuel even tho its a litre higher than the golf R 🙏 If you can test drive one then definitely give it a go first! Thats how i fell in love 🤣🤣

Never noticed anything with the exhausts but I need to readjust the front bumper it’s not the bonnet, it’s just so fidgety as it’s not an OEM part and it’s getting colder I cba to bother, it annoys me to fk too though!

M2 front bumper imo looks horrible,not a big fan of the colour either my that’s just (my) opinion,I’ll own a 140i at some point wen iv finished with my fully forged golf mk6 R & I’m yet to do the run in on that & that will be on the road in a few days once the meth kit has been put in,i was thinking the M240i but i think the M140i looks better

Buy one which already has some mods. It doesn’t get much better than a modded M140i. LSD and coilovers are the most important additions. You can also retrofit an Android Auto module.

If you are going to get an M140i, I'd recommend the shadow edition, it might be more money than a standard spec but it gives it a more demeaning look

The real legend is the n54, twin turbo,first real petrol turbo engine bimma made,with s lot tuning potential, comes forged as standard,but big up the new legend b58 is a don engine aswell.

Jesus Christ everywhere I look there’s a dead ting m140i video on RU-vid 😅😂😂 Everyone is obsessed with them who can’t afford a proper M car or an rs3 or Mercedes etc. They are good for getting power out of them but they are just a cheap clapped out 1 series with a big engine. A 17 year old on minimum wage could afford 1. 😂🤣

The interiors are not awful, they’re boring there’s a difference, the bmw interiors are boring yet the best quality on the market, Mercedes is opposite, looks good but trash quality
