THINK! Don’t Drink Drive 50th Anniversary Advert 

This advert is a masterpiece. Nothing short of it. It stays with you. And it should.

I lost a friend to a collision she was nineteen years old. Her boyfriend was speeding, and lost control of the car. She’s now gone and he’s in a wheel chair for the rest of his life. I miss and think of her everyday. Rest In Peace Beckie.

I cannot even imagine what it must be like for those cops who have to deliver the bad news. I have tremendous respect for them and all the other people whose vocations are depicted in this advert.

I was in a car crash recently and I was pretty confused why all the emergency services were singing to me but it all makes sense now.

At first I was confused about why all the emergency services people were celebrating someone crashing in an accident, then I realised they were talking about the reduction in drink-driving related deaths. The end bit then really hits hard.

The perfect timing in correlation with the song and its context is the part where the doctor administers the defibrillator and sings; "Celebrate good times, COME ON!" Its just like when other doctors do while trying to save patients when they flat line. Very powerful ad. Well they don't sing but they do say, "Come on!"

There shouldn't even be a drink drive limit. It should be don't drink and drive - period. Everyone reacts differently to alcohol; age, height, weight all play a factor. The alcohol content in drinks differs from brand to brand so even those that attempt to stick to the recommended portion can easily go over. Outlawing drinking and driving altogether would send a clear message to everyone.

That end sent shivers down my arms.

This is one of THINK’s best adverts ever! It’s very effective and shows the results of drink driving really well.

I somewhat understood the controversy (?) regarding this video and its music before the text came up. Once the ending of the video was revealed, it made complete sense and in my opinion, it did a great job of showing its message

To those saying its too morbid its supposed to be. The impact makes you think about not drunk driving, similar to cigarette cartons having depictions of the diseases it causes.

This is truly a masterpiece.I love how it pays respects to all serving in these jobs,that a lot of the time don't get to rest and celebrate but are always there on the field in the most critical situations.Respect to all essential workers taking care of our wellbeing and health,even in the hardest of situations.

That end punches hard. I am tee total, my late mum was an alcoholic and I got my driving license through money my grandad left behind. One thing I promised my dad and myself is that if I have even a sip of alcohol, I would not drive. To lose my licence due to something so irresponsible, I would never forgive myself.

I thought this advert was terrible until the end…very clever idea and moving

In fifty years, drink driving deaths have fallen from 1,140 to 230. Becasuse most the UK pubs are closing down and no one can afford to drink.

What's inside about this is this song was playing in my car and almost got In a accident this video is the first thing that popped in my head after that accured

Watching it again, it works... sort of. It's a really strange concept. I understand it's all for the juxtaposition at the end which gives the message the weight, but I'm still not sure if the whole thing is hard enough. NZ/Australia are still going strong with the no gimmicks/gore PSAs, so maybe THINK! could go for it again? Haven't seen a real shocker from them for a good few years. This isn't bad per se, it's just the concept is a little too bizarre for it to be truly effective.

You're all missing the point! The song is relating to the huge decrease in fatal accidents over the last 50 years which are partly due to videos similar to this one. It is not celebrating death or hurt.

An articulated lorry almost run into iur car a few nights ago because I flashed his twice for dazzling me woth high beam. He drove into the middle road trying to intimidate us but instead he ended up driving to fast towards a bridge abd flew over the bank and killed himself. Police later said he was heavily influenced by alcohol. He's dead now, and almost killed us 5x in the car doing so.

Every time I hear this song, it makes me think of this advert. Truly genius marketing right there.
