This song is so emotional for me, I can’t explain why, it just hits me in the heart and it makes me feel sad but at the same time it feels like home, like a warm blanket. It’s almost like I belong there but I have to accept who I am in order to be happy.
I like how they added the audio from the movie. To me, it makes the song much more human, and i believe that's what The National is about. They're a brilliant band.
i haven't watched the film yet...but i like the sound movie over the song, it adds more feeling, there are no random parts, they seem emotional to me, those little things that worth's life for...maybe if i watch the film iys even better. its a great combination of two arts :)
Here is me really hoping you guys open or end with this song on Lowlands => Thats in Holland from 15 to and including 17th of august 2014. This song is one of the best i ever heard, even though it's quite blatantly inspired by another great rock song, it's that good!
Sin haberla visto entera, me atrevo a decir que es mucha BSO para tan poca peli. Una melodía tan perfecta no merece ser estropeada con voces y efectos de sonido por medio. The National, en su línea habitual: lo mejor de lo mejor.
“Couldn’t be done… as in you couldn’t do it. You mean that you couldn’t, not that nobody can. Play nice Matt.” ,dan’ (fear is in the gaze of the beholding)
“Never seen my baby. I’m 38. Talk about too long.” ,dan’ (holding the water bill, crying over powdered milk so I can have something to drink, here I was beginning to think tears were useless)
Agree with the other comments about the audio editing. Beautiful song, absolutely stupid choice to actually make the random movie audio LOUDER. If you HAVE to put it in there for God knows what reason, at least turn the volume down. But you really don't, as it adds nothing. The hell.
Beautiful song. Poor decision to include movie dialogue in this video though, especially outtakes and bloopers that completely conflict with the mood of the song.
Wow, have you people never seen a music video that goes with a film before? They are edited like this all the time! It's not about the song, it's about the film, that's obvious from watching it. I know that's probably over your heads, which is why you make stupid comments.
i thought the song was supposed to capture the characters of the movie, not the actors who played them. i'm with the majority of everyone else here; this song is stunning but the editing of this video is horrendous.
great song but what assholes for letting the audio fromthe movie fuck it up...come on National get it together and put out a real video. If you want keep the film stuff in the background but take the audio out.
