Is PMS not exactly what you think? Most women do experience symptoms that are under the PMS umbrella, but only 5% of women actually suffer from PMS or PMDD. Women who do experience their menstrual cycles in a way that impedes their life, should talk to their OB/GYN. The most extreme part of the spectrum are the women that suffer from PMDD. Those individuals are very highly distressed and usually need more intense interventions to be able to manage their hormonal fluctuations. OB/GYN Dr. Neetu Sodhi shares tips on how to have a great dialogue about your menstrual symptoms with your doctor.

PMDD is like PMS on steroids. You feel like crap before/during/and after. It’s debilitating.

This is me and my psychiatrist put me on medication for Bipolar II, which did NOT work. It's all dependent on my period and different times of my cycle. It's frustrating because this isn't as well known as it should be and because there's no actual treatment for it. I wish this is something we could all talk about more and help each other with. It is not easy, it makes me feel like I'm some weirdo and a monster that nobody understands because I don't even understand it!

For me if and if the symptoms and moods all come the same day I'm screwed. Its Almost debilitating. I can relate to the meds not working. It doesn't feel like my usual meds work . I also have a tendency to flip out on people of authority. . . Cramps the week before I go through tons of milk and it seems to help. Till now I never really consider it as bad as it is. I always thought PMDD was all physical symtoms. But mental symptoms can be just as bad.

I think I may have been PMDD not Bipolar 2. Every period I feel like committing suicide, I end up crying hysterically, headaches, etc.
@KatherineDuque
@KatherineDuque 2 года назад
@@IONov990 yes! That's what they initially diagnosed me as, bipolar II. So they put me on medication and the symptoms continued, but only when my period was going to come. So yeah, same here. NOT bipolar II, but PMDD and trust me, it's the same for me...in regards to how u feel 💜💜

@@KatherineDuque I strongly suspect a hormone imbalance. I get chin hair and acne.

@@IONov990 exactly! I am pregnant right now and I feel the most normal I've ever felt in my life. So whatever hormones this pregnancy is giving me is what I need for the rest of my life, because its been SO NICE not dealing with PMDD.

If I don't know , the symptoms that I can't manage them are because of PMDD or any other cause ,should I firstly visit a psychiatrist or a gynecologist?
@dawnstar6727
@dawnstar6727 Год назад
I don’t think it matters who you see first as long as you tell them, “Hey, I think I might have PMDD. Can we discuss it and maybe get a better idea of what’s going on with me?” Even if you’re wrong and it’s not PMDD, your therapist or gynecologist will gain so much information about you, your cycle, and your mental health just from the discussion alone. And that’s very important.

Easiest fix surly is getting your tubes tied and have some of your eggs stored if you plan on kids Maybe some medication would be needed for a while after tho
@kristinaseals1969
@kristinaseals1969 3 года назад
Tubal ligation would not make difference if you still ovulate. Also tubal ligation can sometimes lead to estrogen dominance which can cause all kinds of issues including worsening pms. Some of those with PMDD do choose to induce menopause chemically but at some point you have to add hormones back or you are at risk of heart disease and osteoporosis, but can add back at consistent level. If that works many then they can have total hysterectomy and removal of ovaries.
