Thinking of trying your first Colorado 14er this year? Why not do the DeCaLiBron Loop, which is made up of Mt. Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln, and Bross, instead? In this 7.5-mile loop, you will hike up and over four 14,000-foot peaks all in one go, all for the time and effort of doing just one. This hike is wonderful - with amazing views, chances to see mountain goats, and spectacular wildflowers in peak summer. If you give this a shot, let me know what you thought!
IMPORTANT NOTE: I just learned after filming this video that the DeCaLiBron loop is temporarily closed from May 1 to May 31, 2021. More info: www.outtherecolorado.com/news....

Audrey: Great video. Coming to CO this week. I have done Quandry several times and want to do DeCaLiBron this visit. Any closures I need to be aware of?

Thanks, Michael! It looks like this is now open, according to this thread I found on Reddit, though I have not been up there myself! Good luck and have fun! www.reddit.com/r/14ers/comments/nr1neo/anyone_know_if_the_decalibron_trail_is_open_again/

Audrey: If DeCaLibron is closed then what is the closest 14er to Breckenridge besides Quandry? thx!

Probably Grays and Torreys, Bierstadt, or Evans. Here's a good map of where all the 14ers are: www.mountainzone.com/map/map-of-colorados-legendary-fourteeners/

Hey Audrey, thanks for the info. I'm close to Boulder too. I'm planning on hitting the peaks this Friday. I was planning on doing the Cockeysville clockwise route.. with Bross at the end. Is it really bad going down from Bross? Also, I have Tesla Model Y, should I rent a SUV or I will be fine? Any insights?

So my friend and I chose to go up Bross because we heard the climb down would be pretty steep and sketchy, and we were really happy we did it that way. I mean totally up to you of course but it's pretty steep and there's a lot of loose rock. You could get most of the way there in a Tesla but the end of the road is only passable in a high clearance vehicle. I don't remember how far it is, but it's where the pay station is where the road gets sketchy.

@@AudreyAdventures thanks! I'm leaning towards Bross too after reading thru other comments in Alltrails app.

Hey! i'm planning on doing this hike with a few friends for my bachelor weekend in a couple weeks. A few of us are pretty active and do quite a bit of climbing and hiking. Hopefully we can knock it out within 4 hours starting at like 7.30. How long did it take you to finish? starting on mt. bross
@AudreyAdventures
@AudreyAdventures 3 года назад
I think that's doable/reasonable if none of you have issues with the elevation. It took my friend and I like six hours but we really took our time - chilled on the top of each mountain and had a beer up on Democrat. If you get there at 7:30 though you'll probably have to park way down the road (that's a late start for a 14er) so that will probably add on some distance.

@@AudreyAdventures great information. What time do you recommend starting?
@AudreyAdventures

@@danielsmith4262 I wanna say we got there at 6:30ish and still had to park along the road, so up to you, just know this is a pretty popular route so the earlier the better!
