Had a few big carp from there mid 20's... Was a local to me.. 👍Use to fish it about 15 year ago,... The old series carpcrew done an episode on it.. ..any dark bait I found the best for fishing there...... Deep red Indian spice boilie was a gem.. 👌.... Great winter fishing as well sure Ali will enjoy it loads.. 👍
I grew up 2 mins from where they were filming and have been fishing that stretch on and off for 20yrs. That inlet in the intro was where I first ever wet a line with dad (25 fish all stickleback, perch etc) and also exactly where I had my first 20lb carp (a 22lb common).
I take carp to low double figures from what must be one of the narrowest and most unlikley canals in Britain, the Huddersfield narrow canal which at some points it is less than 6 feet wide and is definitely not known for its carp. This canal is between Huddersfield and Marsden in West Yorkshire and prebaiting and a commitment to sitting it out after the days activity dies down can bring unexpected rewards. I have caught stillwater fish to way beyond the stamp from the canal but the fish from the canal have been the most rewarding and memorable I have ever had in a lifetime of fishing.Landing a hard fighting canal carp after outwitting these paranoid fish makes an extremeley satisfying capture. The fight of a canal carp cannot be compared to a lake caught fish. With limited space to run up or down the fish can only seek to avoid capture left or right. This suddenly requires different skills in subdueing an angry fish that may never have seen a line beyond a match fishermans 1.5lb hooklink! Canals are a magnet to many facets of society, not all of them fisherman friendly but if you have skills in dog whispering, dog owner diplomacy, drunk appeasement and rambler conversational skills you may actually enjoy it!
Ive fished the Huddersfield canal! My gf was a t uni and I lived with her for a year. Spotted three mid doubles sunbathing at the end of the marina thats behind the pub one day. Started baiting up just at the corner of the entrance to it just beside the steps to the wooden bridge), and had three takes in one day and lost all three. One flat rodded me and got behind a boat (I could do nothing but hang on!) the second found part of a metal cage that I pulled out, rig still attached. And the third spat the hook out as its head reached the net. Will never forget Huddersfield canal.
Ali is spot on with the bait size comment. Being a regular urban/canal carp angler I've learnt to stay big on the bait front to hook carp only. Your offerings should be of varying sizes for the smaller fish to create confidence in feeding.
I saw the way of fishing of British people, I was very inspired by that. But the hunting that we play with our native village style here in our Asia We believe that we can catch more fish than the British and And many big fish are also caught and Alhamdulillah
I disagree with the spoon not spooking them as much as a lead. I never lose tackle on the canal. You don't have to be under the trees to catch. Just bait your spots and the carp will come to you
SnakeMadalf. This was filmed locally to me in Cheddington, Wilstone and Marsworth. Fishing by the boats was done at Cooks Wharf marina. The early morning session on the second day was possibly a little disingenuous whereby fishing took place a little too close to a restricted area. I don't know when this was actually filmed but this once superb stretch of water is now somewhat lacking in fish.
So much shite in canals and then a boat every five mins in the Summer. Night fishing may be called for. But for the tow-path I'd take a large knive with me and a friend.
gmonkey808 I use to float fish the Coventry canal at night, had a spot in some tress no fucker new I was there, amount of piss heads was unreal I just stayed quiet, lost a massive ghost carp I seen every morning on the way to work well over 20lb, u get some good tench and bream at night had a massive pile hit a four pound ranch to in reeling it in, just a dodgy place
Not only carp . Loads of rusty pushbikes, mooeds, shop trolleys, plastic bags and so on. That rainbow on the water is engine oil and diesel. Shortly fantastic
@@22ethanh17 nah really, had plenty of doubles.. 3 way swivel, 30lb line , gripweight and treble hook loaded with bait.. easy fishing mate, they hook themselves!!
I still use a 12ft rod on a canal because I'm not going to buy multiple rods. I have 3 3lbs carp rod 1.5lb carp stalker floater rod Quiver tip feeder rod. On canals I like using my soft carp rod
Then how else would you set your clutches? Loose clutch - fish head straight to the snags. Tight clutch - less chance of fish heading towards snags when it feels that much resistance. Logical mate.
Cant cast to it should'nt be fishing it, simples................. When I see vids like this about carp fishing I am really glad I packed it in years ago when it all started to become too commercial.
***** No No No, you are reading incorrectly, It was meant to be read as glad I packed in carp fishing as it was all starting to become to commercial as in this video in general, the casting part is a different point, it is two sentences. You could of made your point even though incorrect without the cursing towards me also :)
I have learned two things from watching carp fishing videos on youtube. You use so. much. tackle. and you hate holding your rods. Looks like fun though!
That's the one made by Angling Intelligence. You will find them on ebay or at their website www.anglingintelligence.com/baiting-poles/ The trouble is, they don't seem to have much stock of anything and you often have to wait. I use a lot od their stuff and it is spot on!!
Callum Rainford The carp would still have a little slack and the slack from the bobbin. He said he would be right by the rods. The clutch has to be tight so that you don’t get snagged. Some people that fish in snaggy areas go as far as using braided line because there is no stretch.
You been smoking strong spice? He can cast. Little canals are cute. You’d never cast a Pva bag accurately versus bait placement that close. Tips and tricks.
At 7:27 when you are having your speech: What is the point of having a freaking bait runner reel if you just gonna use it as "rock solid" ?!!?!? This is not even a baitrunner anymore. and you certainly spook the fish more than landing it if you do that way. You have something called "bait runner" for a reason.
StayReal02 bait runners are for mugs who can’t fish properly - no top of the range reels use them for a reason. Why else would daiwa and shimano use quick drag 😴
