***THERE is an option for a 165Hz display as well if you choose the model with 165 Hz WQXGA*** Also, I cleaned the camera lens and adjusted some of the settings and got a better result for the webcam. I will show the result in the upcoming full review.
With all laptops going "port-less" this is the only laptop I can buy which has a touchscreen, centered touchpad,, all the ports and H series cpu. Great job Lenovo.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 It will be way out of my budget though!
@@dorishsiao4497 yea. I hate that. I did see some decent dongle/hub stations that stick to bottom of laptop and give you all the ports, but most are heavily marketed to apple customers so im concerned about compatibility and i always prefer native io. It is funny how just 5 or so years ago I was determined to only buy a laptop with a dvd/bluray disc R/W drive. Boy, how times have changed.
Thank you Andrew for the Unboxing & First Look of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 5. Lenovo knows how to make Premium laptops and this one is no exception with great port selection, 600 nits display, nice port selection, clear 1080p webcam and mic quality and upgradeable RAM and SSD. Nice to know that it is also a touch screen. A nearly perfect laptop in my opinion! Great job Lenovo!! Thank you Andrew for cranking out these videos lately!!! Brilliant job my friend. 👏👍😁
the price is nowhere near perfect. Terrible value, ridiculuously overpriced. Only corporate entities willb e able to afford this, even a Dell XPS is a great value next to this overpriced machine. Sad bc i really like Lenovo, just not overpriced laptops.
FYI for the dudes who think about buying one of these I have a thinkpad carbon gen 9 with the exact same finish as this one and the paint started to peel off at the edges after 2-3 months and it's pretty ugly now. This was a decked out carbon worth more than 2000 euros that never left my apartment. So I'm never gonna buy one with the carbon fiber finish on plastic (the finish is painted on a white-ish plastic structure). I assume the cheaper thinkpads that have the black pigment in the plastic would be much more durable in this regard. That a significant part of the resale value down the toilet plus it looks fugly. but after paying so much you would expect the quality to be better.
Great job, Andrew! I really enjoy your work especially the Livestream unboxing and review. Great way to wind down after a long day and still catching up with tech world. Keep it up!
I love this review Andrew. Fantastic work! I want to upgrade my current personal laptop which is HP Spectre x360 from intel 8th gen to 12th gen. I've been looking at the same brand HP Spectre, Dell XPS 13 and 15, Lenovo Yoga 9i Evo and now this Lenovo ThinkPad X1 extreme Gen 5. I've used ThinkPad for work a long time ago. I do like the utility of it. Your unboxing helps me understand what to expect.
@@andrewmarcdavid I caught that that and it was incredibly helpful thank you. Got a question for you - do you think it’s a poor decision to max out a system like this? I went that route and I feel the 3080ti could be outperformed by a 70 in a different set up. Curious if you found any good ways for optimizing with the Gen 5?
Nice PC. Port selection is good although they should move one of the USB-C ports to the other side and swap it with one of the USB A ports which there are two on the same side. Minor detail. Watching you handle this it appears to be not a fingerprint magnet on the outside but a big fingerprint magnet on the inside. Camera and mics appeared good. Great unboxing review. Looking forward to the complete review "COMING UP".
Andrew thank you so much for your great reviews, i am almost on when it comes to Lenovo. Your work is awesome 👍🏼. Btw, do you have idea about global Lenovo supplier ? Who able to support customized Thinkpad delivery and shipping. Issue with Lenovo US or global is the keyboard always English and I would prefer to have it Eng/Arabic keyboard. And unfortunately the local Lenovo supplier are very poor and so much expensive to supply the basic version. I like the thinkpad like p series and x1 series they are the top for heavy duty and mobile professional workstations.
thanks for the unboxing but I'm curious why lenovo has taken so long to send it to your market (especially since this is a first look and not a formal review). It's been available in Australia for over 3 months. I ordered it on sale 2 months ago and got it a month ago. And I had a custom model built so it took a bit longer to get but even then
Love your reviews. Thank you so much again Andrew. One thing I don’t get, it’s 2022 so why don’t they come out with materials that does not show fingerprints on the casing and track pad etc. It can’t be hard. Apple do it 🤷♂️
There was no livestream for this ? In any case, I have been waiting for this since forever, so I am watching it right now from the start. Edit: So once again, high-end GPU causes this laptop to lose 2nd M.2 SSD slot. That is rather disappointing.
I found that disabling CPU E-cores can do wonders for that, you lose some possible multi-threading performance but get a much cooler and quieter laptop. Maybe a combination of future BIOS/Windows updates will make it better.
hello good morning and happy today please i want asking your about laptops I need gaming laptop with lower price HP victus or Lenovo legion 5 or Acer nitro 5 or Dell g15 or MSI or Asus and other laptop your is better which is better for gaming no hitting for playing games thanks very much good bless you
The screen of my lenovo laptop flickers when establishing connection with wifi, or when using wifi intensively, and I found similar cases online too. Does anyone have this problem with your lenovo laptop?
Bro can you upgrade it to 8 tb ssd if you can pls do it , Lenovo says that you can get an eight tb ssd but when you are configuring the laptop you can get a four tb ssd max
Thanks for the review. Just sad seeing the prices for this thing, so expensive it almost looks like Lenovo is running a money laundering operation using these things.
I have been using this X1 EXTREME Gen 5 for one month. NVIDIA 3050ti GPU has a deficiency: it doesn't work, and error code 43 appears. It may be caused by GPU hardware deficiency. I had requested Lenovo repair service.
Could you please give some details? Can I contact to you? I am interested in this model and this have that specific 3050 Ti without customization possibility.
@@joloriquelme I built this laptop based on my personal preferences. Depending on which CPU you choose, there are at least two options for you. For example, I selected i7-12800H, and I have two GPU options: 3050Ti and 3070Ti. Since I am not a game fan, I select the 3050Ti model. When I received this laptop on Sep 19, 2022, I connected it to my Lenovo monitor via HDMI cable. About 2-3 days later, my Lenovo monitor screen went black. Then, I check the X1 extreme Gen 5 laptop, I checked Device Manager and found that there was a yellow exclamation point on the icon of the NVIDIA Geforce 3050ti icon. Furthermore, there is a remark as follows: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) Then, I tried to resolve this issue by myself. There are two possible reasons for this issue: 1. Software problem. 2. Hardware problem. I uninstalled and installed the NVIDIA driver (from the Lenovo website) repeatedly. From my perspective, I think it is likely a hardware problem regarding internal chip deficiencies. I submitted a repair ticket on the Lenovo website. Before sending this machine to the authorized repair site, I unabled the NVIDIA 3050ti GPU. Without enabling the NVIDIA 3050ti GPU, the boot time for this machine is about 22 seconds, with enabling both integrated Inter Iris Xe GPU and NVIDIA 3050ti GPU, the boot time cost more than 3 minutes. I think it is abnormal. In conclusion, the discrete graphics card has some hardware deficiencies on my laptop.
@@joloriquelme I requested the Lenovo repair center, and they sent me a box for mail-in repair. If you google code 43, there are plenty of results. So, it is not a rare issue, not just for Lenovo, but also for other brands.
Glossy screen?? no no no.. I will never fall for their marketing terms again, saying AR/AS display, which essentially a sugar coated terms for glossy display.
