Honestly this an amazing performance considering how many years have past, plus this is an incredibly complex song lyrically to sing and remember, he struggled a bit years ago, so this is impressive!! amazing band, i loved that their music was used in smallville too.
He was diagnosed w/ chronic fatigue syndrome- plus people get older. At least they arent using auto-tune etc.. I saw Chris Cornell and even his voice changed RIP. Eddie Vedder had a voice coach to preserve his voice.
the song was also about doing some harsh drugs. albeit alot better back then than the shit they put in it nowdays, and he could not sing every word like it was. the original is bad ass!!
Seeing him forget the lyrics to his own song makes me feel so much better when I forget the lyrics of other people's songs. Haha! I can't tell you how many times I've had to stop and re-start a song because I forgot the lyrics. Thank you, Mr. Jenkins. I feel much better.
People are so rude! The 90's are gone! He has gotten older! Not everyone's voice is gonna be the same after 20, 30 years. I don't mind hearing this at all. Shit, it's better than today's Pop trash! Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Halsey, any dude from One Direction, Beyonce, Ariana Grande and Ed Sheeran, although I think he's cool. We need to hear real music, someone singing about something relatable for once!
I say the same thing too. Today’s music is pure trash compared to the 90s and early 2000s. Most of the songs on my IPod are from that era. I don’t bother listening to the radio unless it’s a radio station that plays 80s, 90s, and early 2000s music.
Are you really saying that Beyonce and Ariana are "pop trash"? Have you listened to any of their music or are you trying to be "edgy" by dismissing any and all pop music because music that people like "is not real music"? Gimme a break. I am a huge fan of Third Eye Blind, and I am not stupid enough NOT to see how talented Ariana Grande and Beyonce are. And BTW, pop music, like any other genre, has bad music and good music. The housewives are all clapping to a song they grew up listening too but still don't realize it is about crystal meth. And yes the song itself literally says "crystal meth" in the lyrics.
It’s only Stephen the lead singer who is original. He pretty much swindled everyone else in the original band by making a tiny corporation lead by Electra records called “third eye blind INC” so he didn’t have to give royalties and he fired everyone in the band...thus creating this off toned sad sight of bullshit such as this performance

Back in the 90's I thought of them as kind of a second rate band. (I was kind of a grunge snob). But now I'm like they are a thousand times better than any contemporary popular bands!

He wasn't censoring himself LOL the words he messed up were "I believe in the sand beneath my toes". Definitely not the raciest part of the lyrics. Mistakes happen. I think it was a great performance overall. Real singing.

Its about the addiction to it, but yeah so what? The song Sex And Candy by Marcy Playground is also about meth. Why does everyone act like this is such a huge thing to address?
I saw them New years eve 2017 bringing in 2018. they actually put on an awesome show. his voice was great, full of energy, talked to the crowd, and he is not a fruitcake, or gay, or whatever you may think he is or comes off as. he is full on dude. and he is quite a smart guy. but that's just my opinion
April Simkins I agree April. Saw them last year on their "Summer God's" tour where they performed their enitre debut album, and performed it to perfection. People just like to troll and criticize every and any thing... it doesn't bother me, lol.

And this version of the band only has one original member - while 2 of the other originals (including the co-author of most of their best known songs, Kevin Cadogen) and the REPLACEMENT guitarist had formed their own band - and were doing the songs from the first album BETTER. Unfortunately, Jenkins had gotten the copyright and trademark to the band name - and harrassed anyone that he got forced out of the band if they even MENTIONED they were "former members".
