We are just using our library mostly! We will see what the kids gravitate towards and maybe find some unit studies for that as we go.

Curriculum wise, I have a 5th and 6th grader. They'll be using Math Mammoth for math, The Good and The Beautiful Language Arts, RSO Biology 2, and Story of the World volume 3. Our co-op has been cancelled for the 2020-2021 year, but another mom and I plan to teach science and history together.

You are such an inspiration!!! We have been doing the night basket and they love it thank you for your ideas😃can’t wait to see traveling around the world.

For the summer, early fall, and then again in the late spring (April/May), we do a lighter load to make more time for outdoor adventures, gardening, and self-directed art projects. (My 4th grader is currently sewing large scale soft toys, 3/4 of her height, and doing a lot of sculpting.) Our lighter load is: Read aloud, independent and shared reading, Math Lessons for a Living Education, Grammar Galaxy, journal writing, letter writing, Evan-Moor Skill Sharpeners: Math, Science, and Geography, and Evan-Moor Building Spelling Skills. (But not everything every day.) For the fall, winter, and early spring, we will use Oak Meadow as our main curriculum, as well as Artistic Pursuits, Kiwi Co. crates, and a few other odds and ends. Our newest and most exciting addition...our "one thing" this year...is Italian! We are learning together as a family at dinner time using Duolingo and TalkBoxMom. We're having a ball! Best wishes for a beautiful year!

Thank you for sharing your plans for this school year. I ordered the What Your Second Grader Needs to Know and the one for Fifth grade for my two kids. Your videos are so helpful and my son loved your Who Was George Washington unit study. We used it as part of his first grade social studies curriculum. I also ordered The Tuttle Twins series so I'm definitely interested in how that goes for you and Emily. I am a sucker for curriculum videos! I love seeing what other people use. It helps me know what all is out there! I have one 1st grade daughter. We are using Sonlight History/Bible/Lit B, their Science A and their Language Arts 1. We also will move on to All About Reading 3 and 4 and All About Spelling 1-3 probably this year. Depends on how quickly we get through things. We use Math-U-See Alpha, A Reason for Handwriting, Explode the Code, My Story 1 (Masterbooks), and Starter Spanish (Carson Dellosa). I also just purchased Yellow Spot: Sun Color Theory so we'll see how that goes! It'll definitely be a busy year! I am very interested in seeing more of your new curriculum. I already have my eye on your Magic Treehouse stuff. If it came in smaller bundles I'd be all over it, but I don't know yet if my daughter even likes them yet. We just got 1-4 for her birthday in June! 😊 If she does...well then you know where I'll be headed! ♥️

We have a 3rd grader this year- and we happen to be interest led and “curriculum dabblers” (mama gets bored after a month lol) but we are using Math U See and TGTB (all year 😉) and “Traveling the Parks”. And possibly some “Passport to Adventure”, outschool, Mel Science, Slime Kits, Science Kits, lots of hikes, and whatever else grabs our interest or sparks our curiosity. This is the first year I’ve decided to give myself permission to “dabble” and use a variety of resources.

I have a third grade daughter this year too (and a 1st grader and 6th grader---both boys). We'll be using The Good and the Beautiful for her LA and Math. History and Science will be kind of hodge-podgy with some TGATB units mixed in with other topics of interest. We're also going to do All About Spelling as a group since her older brother struggles with spelling and her younger brother is just getting started, so I figured we could all start at the beginning with everyone together. Since it's only our second year of homeschooling, I still feel a little overwhelmed with all of the possibilities, but my "one thing" for this year is to incorporate a morning basket. I appreciate so much all of your ideas on morning basket themes!

My kiddo is starting 2nd grade this year. We are sticking with our morning basket hymn, bible reading, artis, and classic book. We are moving on from My Father's World to Gather Round and Five in a Row, which should be less time and more all around learning or subjects, as we will also be doing more student directed learning. I am trying to simplify with children that a 7,4, and 8 months, not keep getting more, but its so hard when there are so many amazing curriculums out there. I am ordering Tuttle twins also. My 4th grader is using the good and the beautiful math but it is actually level 3 because we didnt finish last years math and we are gonna kinda do a speed through of 3rd and move on to 4th as soon as she finishes. I have the journey through math books like you have here also. Still havent figured out math for my 5th grader. 2nd grader is doing apologia math. Notgrass 50 states along with my fathers world exploring the world I think is what it's called. I have been looking at so much curriculum lately it's all running together. I love watching you. Guest hollow beawolf is what I an using with them all for grammar and language. The way you approach learning is what i desire so much but I get so overwhelmed amd constantly feel like I'm not doing enough and I have 3 kids in different grades plus a 3 year old and I struggle yearly to get things going the way I want.

I love that you are letting her take the path on subjects. When I was in elementary school we had are regular English math subjects but then a unit study, you don't realize how much you are actually learning. I'm horrible at spelling but was already learning about doing research and interesting things with real math science and math directly mixed in. This helped in middle school because are English and social studies do a joint project every semester where we had to research things and write a full 5 paragraph essay. Then in 8th grade English worked with science, we had a science fair, but it wasn't just doing an experiment, it was learning how to write up the experiment in the proper way with then sitting sources. High school continued like that but I went to an ultra orthodox all girls high school do I had dual education my entire school life. But they tied things together where we ended up producing a unit study all written up and sorced the correct way with the reasrch coming from the Torah and other things but put together in the presentation mode. Science and math worked close together sometimes and with history and literature it was always on the same topic like Greek literature and Greek history. I was very fortunate and in 12th grade they brought in community College teachers and we took actual college courses that counted for both. When I got to college first I got to skip most of the intro classes which worked much better than a.p. credits. But people had some much trouble figuring out how to research, how to write papers and even how to present topics. Do i use my college degree no, but learning with everything put together is how the real world works. Yes you need the core things but you also have to nurture intrests because the kids don't realize how much they are actually learning. I wish I could home school but I'm a single foster mom who works full-time at home and had an in house babysitter before the virus so I could work. I did buy a ton of the books and games you mentioned to supplement but I never know when they are going to leave my home, reunification is the best, though one of the kids is looking more like an adoption case. Outschool has saved my life and depending on what school is for this coming year it might be 2 days a week in school and the other online I have been looking into hiring someone to supplement their education.it will keep them busy letting me work but also letting them learn. Even if I adopted i doubt I would go the home school way just because of the nature of my job. We do tons of read a louds and crafting things. I'm loving the kiwi company subscription boxes. You are setting her up for a great future

We're starting our first year homeschooling PreK/kindergarten too! After agonizing for literally months I chose to get the rightstart curriculum for my daughter, as it had the most amount of positive reviews for setting a strong foundation in math skills, as well as being very scripted for those of us parents/caretakers who have never been strong in math. But I only expert to get through A-C and then move on to possibly Singapore. And because of Jessica's videos I also grabbed Life of Fred Apples to read as part of our morning basket. At least that's the plan for now! I'd love to hear what you're doing! ☺

I wish you had been doing this years ago when I was homeschooling my oldest kid. Such fabulous resources! Lucky that I have found you now though, because I’m sure that my younger children will really benefit from your videos in the future.

Looks like a fun year! My son is third grade also this coming school year and we like you play a lot of games. We are excited to do the National Parks curriculum you made and will also try one of The Who was units as well as Survival School. I’d love to check out those Usborne times and Division dry erase ones... we are doing beast academy 2 C and D, just a couple lessons a week so we will go slowly w them as well as life of Fred and lots of games. We are also doing AAR and AAS as those seem to work best for my son. Everything else is interest led and what I already mentioned above. Love your videos and FB page! 🤗
