Third-Person in The Source Engine 

There's a very, VERY obscure Source game in third person called "WWII Experience" which was a multiplayer tank game (similar to war thunder I guess) made by Kuma Games.

You forgot about a halloween spell in tf2 that miniaturized your character and lets you shoot and fight in 3rd person mode.

There's also Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. You can change between first-person and third-person if you're using a gun. However, your character is locked in third-person if you're using melee weapons. The gunplay is, quite frankly, not the best because it's an RPG/Immersive sim

Vindictus, Bloodlines, Alien Swarm and Blade Symphony did 3rd Person Source Engine gameplay super smoothly and amazingly.

Postal 3 is one of the games ever made. It has gameplay, a main character, and objectives. It is able to be run on computers. My favourite part is when Postal Dude says "it's Posting time!" and goes Postal.

There are actual addons for L4D2 that fix the issues with the thirdperson commands, that make it really good, honestly. The reason why Postal III helped in leaking beta HL2 content is because it was using an older version of the Source engine, which when the out-sourced devs got their hands on it from Valve, Valve neglected to remove anything regarding HL2. Should also mention, you are correct on saying Alien Swarm isn't third-person, it's top-down i.e. Hotline Miami and such. Great video.

Vindictus is a source game, it's a third person action dungeon crawler brawler.

Vampires the Masquarade has a very usable third person mode. In fact you're forced into it if you do any melee attacks.

A couple addendum to the L4D2 thirdperson: third-person is forcefully disabled in versus mode in third-person, all of your own shotgun shots are silent.

"Blade Symphony", "Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines", "Vindictus", "Hybrid" are all third person commercial games made in source.

in HL2's case, the playermodel is gordon from HL1 with no textures (he has a model at all, cause HL1 had multiplayer) (so does HL2, but its as a separate game for some reason - Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, which you get for free with purchase of HL2)

You can also use third person in l4d2 as special infected of course you'll need to open a map with command prompt and do versus but what you need to type in command prompt is viewdistance and put a negative numbers and i think its works pretty well

Double action: Boogaloo is actually a somewhat source version of the halflife mod the spacialist (which is really good). I think only like one of the og devs of the specialist is working on it so thats that. But yea, i can't stress enough how good the specialist was, it was more on the matrix side of things than max payne tho

A simple wikipedia search also found these Source games which feature at least in some part, a third-person perspective: Kuma\War - "... is a free tactical first and third-person shooter game..." Hybrid - "... is a downloadable third-person shooter video game..." Blade Symphony - "... is reminiscent of and inspired by Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast ... first and third-person..." (This is just surface level research, some games in the Source engine wiki might have small features that include a third-person element to them but have no mention of it on the wiki).

I seem to recall that when developing Postal 3, Akella was working with Valve to change the engine. However, that went down the toilet when Postal 3 was moved to Trashmasters (their shovelware department) when Akella started laying off employees and was edited by them for some reason. If you find the "postal3videos" channel, one of the first videos shows the original third person mode and the player crouching. The leak in which beta stuff for TF2 and Half-Life was found in includes the original third persin, which had a toggle. In the final game, the third person is a tweaked first person camera with the player as the view model, while the beta was a tweaked third person mode edited to be more functional Some other features from the team working with valve include bodygroupped prefabbed NPCs with over 200 materials and bodygroupped flexes. Many other features were cut, sadly

Portal 1 and 2 are in the unintended cheats category (and I imagine the camera would suck for aiming and flinging), but the engine does actually give you a proper simulated character model in single player so that you appear properly in portals, and that applies to third person as well. I've also been pretty frustrated by the fact that gmod locks thirdperson behind sv_cheats; why can't I get the achievement points for spawning props just cause I want to be in third person lol

a very noteworthy third person source game that had some relevance back in its heyday but is completely dead and buried nowadays is Blade Symphony. sword-based fighting game made on the source engine, where you could freely download weapons from the workshop and they showed up for both players, also had free roaming and FFA battle modes. had a lot of fun with it, too bad on top of no more players the devs apparently turned it into a f2p microtransaction heavy mobile game-ish messy jamboree.

The majority of my source content is in Third p. and i did all of Black Mesa , Portal 1, and Mel in that mode. Love playing the games like that. Someday iw get to covering atleast HL2 with a proper Gordon model with acurate animations.

There's Vindictus, which is an MMO entirely within Source engine. It's also 100% third person.

CSGO has many third-person convars that you can tweak to customize how the camera works. You can move the camera to be over-the-shoulder, tilt it any way you want, and even make it so that the crosshair lines up to where the shot will land (although it will never be fully accurate, since the bullets go from the player model, not from the camera model - divergent lines and all that)

Dino D Day had good third person for the dinos, Also D.I.P.R.I.P. Warm Up has ok third person for a car based game.

If you include apex you have to include Titanfall 2 too. It's execution and titan embarkation animations play out in third person and if you die during the evacuation at the end of a match you can spectate remaining players from a third person perspective.

For CS:GO, there's more commands to change where your character aims during Third Person. As its aim is set to a locked place, it's never directly on the crosshair.
