I came back to this music video for I did not understand it when I was younger. I am now much older, wiser, and have collected a magnitude of lessons though academia and life experiences. I am happy to say, I still don't understand this music video. See you in 10 years.
4 people see the world for what it actually is. Sickness hiding behind "sophisticated civilization." No matter how you dress it, a turd is a still a turd.
if you think his is sexy (which he is) u should see a movie called Highway with him and Jake Gyllenhaal! The love scene between him and Selma Blair is to die for!!!
My favorite song when i was 13 years old, and now i'm 28 years old, very amazing this song in my life, 30 second to mars I hope this band come to my country ❤
Back in 2007 I was at a concert with multiple bands including 30 Seconds to Mars, and I walked out of the arena to go find a bathroom and my 13 year old self saw Jared Leto and the rest of the band just chillin alone grabbing a bite to eat and I went up to them and we talked for about 15 minutes and I remember them just being so sweet. They signed my ticket and made my life that day (: I'll never forget it lol
Going to guess you mean the bridge when you say the explosive chorus. Not me being the 'akctually' guy - just, maybe you didn't know and you'll read this and think I'm an idiot but also search 'song bridge' and go ahhhhh. Because this is a classic bridge and I agree, it's great here.
After all this time this song & video haven’t lost any of the magic it had when I saw it when it first came out. The first 2 albums are still the ones I play and cherish most!
Sometimes I think they wanted to create a song that nobody else could perform to their level, and that's how this masterpiece was born. It never feels old.
One of the most underrated songs of the 2000s. The film work and music are amazing and stand out from other music from the time and throughout history.
This song and this video are an amazing combination. This is a masterpiece and I doubt that 30 seconds could do anything that better than this, the cinematography of this video is outstanding and the performance of all is magnificent. Truly a masterpiece of music and cinema.
I absolutely love their music. I absolutely love Jared Leto! Look him up.....as an actor.... Fund a film......the title I can't remember. Soi look for Jared Leto "fat".... You will be amazed!!
Wow.
Extra points if you carried a Sony Walkman around and were beyond pumped about getting an anti-skip Walkman. Ohhhh boy the POSSIBILITIES!!!! I can listen to music while cutting the grass? Riding my BnB bike? Going for a damn walk even?! I was so fucking happy about that!!! Hahaa
haha, I understand, had not intension of 'putting you on the spot'. Surely your female inhibition would no doubt make sure...:). Great band and good songs!
Kim Hansson I'm never embarrassed to say what I'm thinking, but RU-vid is a nasty place when it comes to people who criticize me. But thanks for being so nice to me. And yes, great band and amazing songs
It's sad to think that there will never be a music video of this quality maybe ever, artists are not this detailed anymore and it's sad. I miss videos like this where artists gave it their all.
He's a stranger to some And a vision to none He can never get enough Get enough of the one For a fortune he'd quit But it's hard to admit How it ends and begins On his face is a map of the world (A map of the world) On his face is a map of the world (A map of the world) From yesterday, it's coming From yesterday, the fear From yesterday, it calls him But he doesn't want to read the message out On a mountain he sits Not of gold but of shit Through the blood he can look See the lives that he took From a count to one He'll decide when he's done with the innocent On his face is a map of the world (A map of the world) On his face is a map of the world (A map of the world) From yesterday, it's coming From yesterday, the fear From yesterday, it calls him But he doesn't want…
Wow, I was not prepared for the intensity of the nostalgia that hit me when this song started playing... these guys were SUCH an important part of my life when I was 15-16 (around 2007) and even though I don't listen to any of their new stuff this band is still so important to me.
lol same. Part of me doesn't understand why I like the main guy so much, but the other part of me gets it when it shows his shirt off lol he screams beautifully and has beautiful eyes too haha
30STM makes a Master piece, these instrumental enter daaaaaamn! Even years and years this song is one of the emblem for us, the warriors in the world! Greetings Warriors!
Not only do 30 seconds make truly unique songs but to accompany every song is a video masterpiece. One of the truly original bands of the last 20 years
I’ve been sick and bedridden for the past 5 years and listening to this and another song by them just send you to another place. You almost forget your sick or in bad shape you just can forget fir just a little while!
It’s been about 10 years since I watched this, definitely stranger then I remembered. Still…from the music video part of it one of the best music videos I’ve seen.
Liaret I don't think it is possible, specially when the band is kind of a family thing(older brother as drummer/band leader), he is just too busy in HollyWood.
I used to listen to this song with my brother when I was younger. Couldn’t quite remember the name of it but have always remembered the tune to it. I recently re discovered this masterpiece, and I am glad to say it is still as beautiful as the first time I heard it.
RIP 30STM. RIP Linkin Park. RIP Evanescence. RIP Paramore. RIP Coldplay. RIP Fall Out Boy. RIP Nickleback. RIP Yellowcard. RIP rock music. Thank you for killing it.
Yes, the groups you named here as far as rock respects are dead. It's really painful to listen to the music 30stm used to create (songs like Buddha for Mary, this one, hurricane, big etc...) and now they don't even have a fucking bass in the band, they do shit mainstream music, their last album "they" lasted "6 years" to create it (NOTICE THE """"") and it's absolute garbage, the lyrics a fucking cliché full of "ooohhhh's" (which wouldn't be bad if they at least did rock), and Jared's vocals are unnecessary modified in a lot of songs. Awful to see how a band/man can be capable of creating such a unique, amazing music in sound and lyrics, and because "it doesn't sell as much", all that creative talent is squandered and instead we get this new album which (if it's not clear) I personally think is garbage. But friend, I have to disagree with you in one thing. ROCK IS NOT DEAD. I don't know if you've heard (I hope you have lol) Breaking Benjamin for example. They are my favorite band and they've been making rock for 17 years now!! Of course, members are not the same, but the singer is, and most importantly, THEY SOUND THE SAME AS THEY DID 17 YEARS AGO. This year they released their sixth album and it's fucking amazing, if you haven't, you should definitely check them or it out. Another rock band that I absolutely love as much as breaking Benjamin (both my favorite bands) is Starset. They are just amazing and if you haven't heard them you definitely should. They are not just one genre of rock, their songs go from alternative rock, to electronic, even symphonic... There's not much to say but CHECK THEM OUT. With all this said (and thanks for reading me if you made it this far), I understand why you say rock is dead, but I want you to know, IT'S NOT. Greetings from Argentina!
OmegaMax Thanks. I did read everything. Though rock is not really dead, it's getting harder and harder to find something really good. Sometimes I pick a new band I never heard before and I painfully listen to like 30-50 boring songs until i finally find a few good songs. I did hear the new Breaking Benjamin album and I was a bit disappointed. The style didn't change but I didn't enjoy the melodies. But I'll give that album another chance, because some songs are not "love at first hearing". Sometimes I listen to a new song or a band, I don't like it, listen to it again a few months (or even years) later and then I start to like it. You know that feeling when you already heard the best song ever, the best movie ever, the best video game ever. So you want more, but you cant find it and nothing else satisfies you because nothing compares to that best thing. I already have a large list of old (and a few new) bands to listen to and I will totally add Starset to it!
@@GhostNameless Oh yes, I know that most of the songs aren't love at first sight, but as you listen to them, in this new album and all the others, you'll probably grow to enjoy and love them. If you don't like ember (new breaking Benjamin album), and you haven't heard their other albums you definitely should, albums like phobia which is amazing, or their first album which is amazing too. And I know that feeling you talk about, but sometimes to find great music that we can identify with and like, you just have to be patient. You have to give bands a try and just listen to their songs in different days, not just once. Then you'll be finding out that you like a new band. I'm glad you'll listen to starset, I know you'll like it (or hope so haha), and if you have any recommendations I'm all open to hearing new music.
OmegaMax Heard all of Breaking Benjamin songs and I enjoyed Phobia and Dear Agony the most. Linkin Park, Paramore and Yellowcard are my favorite bands, but I would also recommend: Papa Roach - has one of the best guitars, especially in the songs Into The Light and Sometimes. Earlyrise - criminally underrated. Has two amazing albums. Almost every song is pure gold. Great guitars and female lead singer. SR-71 - very underrated. Some songs pop punk but some are alternative rock. Egypt Central - another underrated band. Every song in the first album is pure gold. Drowning Pool - first album only (lead singer died). The song Tear Away probably has the best guitar solo ever!! Flyleaf - kinda like Paramore but very dramatic voice and lyrics. I also listened to Three Days Grace, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Staind, Seeter, P.O.D, Skillet and Hollywood Undead.
@@GhostNameless wow you know some great bands, I was surprised to read that you know Egypt central, which first album I find amazing too!! They are so underrated. I will definitely checkout some of the bands you named that I don't know of and I'll let you know what I think, thanks!
Why have i only just found these guys they are incredible and they cut right to my heart. Love you guys you just keep being who you are a tru talent 🤗👌💪🤘🤟🤘
Fuck I'm so old, but NOT a nimrod. I still have a pretty nice ass. It's normal to feel old while watching children at play. I think there's a large sandbox right above our heads.
Недаром, это самый дорогой клип в мире. Супер пупер и даже не клип, а короткометражный фильм. Всё так интересно, красочно, великолепная актёрская игра. Пересматриваю часто, с удовольствием.
If this song, were about a gift, or a message, can't they see the gift is that trust and friendship can't be masked? Rather, in battle, they knew not to harm one another. That IS a message and a gift. "trust" is supposed to be the most sought after "gift"... That the man with a map of the world DID write the message. It just needed to be interpreted... By emotion.
Even though some countries like China was considered great, honored, advanced as high form of society for its age, in any age and place there is corruption, perversion, and savageness present. In Asia some believe that breast milk is a form of the fountain of youth, The old and rich would pay/own mothers to let them drink from them, even today some still believe from it. People who are afraid to die will do anything to live forever. It was the emperor's wish to test them if they will kill each other. Listen/read/research the lyrics. The song is about the emperor/whomever in great power. As a leader his job is to guide the people, "His face is the map of the world". Despite all his wrong doings he doesn't bother to reflect it. Very few music video corresponds to the lyrics like this one literally. The white face lady at the beginning is a ghost or a bad omen, the women were innocent but are to be beheaded, the man was driven insane whipping himself for the emperor's enjoyment.
Omg YOU ARE AMAZING @Hoboemperor !! That was the most well descriptive, beautifully thought through thoroughly... And exceedingly insightful. Any artist/musician looks for the passion you just gave for any work they do. Just, wow. You opened this song for me even more ☺️
A quote in the making video, “There is always something about Asian culture that struck me as a kid...” The album name is not ironically Beautiful Lie. Rock has always been about the truth, love, being young and rebelling. The title is the wish, it is about the emperor, what HE wanted for his birthday. Inspired by Bernardo Bertolucci's 1987 film The Last Emperor. Plot summary; A dramatic history of Pu Yi, the last of the Emperors of China, from his lofty birth and brief reign in the Forbidden City, the object of worship by half a billion people; through his abdication, his decline and dissolute lifestyle; his exploitation by the invading Japanese, and finally to his obscure existence as just another peasant worker in the People's Republic. - Written by Martin H. Booda IMDB I am of Asian descent. Centuries ago my country was under Chinese rule and my ancestors had to adopt a lot of customs and traditions from China. As bizarre as my explanations are they are not bull, milking a mom to be young is not real but the symbolism behind them is real. That is just one of many. I could see how authentic the producers tried to make this video feel as an authentic Chinese feature film with props, acting, setting, and storytelling. I am exposed to lot of horror games/movies and I know a bad omen/ghost when I see one and I take to mind about these themes; I am desensitized about how the world is today because I choose to look at the big picture that the world is not perfect. Of course I do not follow these customs but they were explained to me as I was learning my heritage. Take into consideration what I say or be ignorant to culture entirely by saying I made it up. There is no wrong idea about the song/video. Everyone has their own opinion or perspective. I shared to hope enlighten others and broaden their perspective. You should explain further about what you think or what you were told the song meant because still I’m not quite sure what you mean. Leto told MTV News …..a very visual song. The visual is meant to be disturbing or eye opening. "I like people to take their own message from the song, if they indeed get one, and also just enjoy it for what it is.” Interestingly there is a 13 minute unrated version, check it out!
Absolutely! I will look for the unrated one ☺️.. As for the silly Troll, Widow, that's just as easy to ignore as his/her ️type is to ignore in society. The ones in a checkout line at the store whom have nothing to offer then an opinion they cant fully back with any useful input or direction.... And yes, the kinds of people who can't find anything for themselves other then something negative for someone else. People who can't offer relevence and only recourse, are worth no comment too dude ☺️ I love YOUR outlook, insight and passion.
I let to listen this song for many years to not spoil it. And now i listened and there's a fresh that seems the first time; it's awesome art. And what a clip!!!
This is cultural appreciation! the emperor asks for "for yesterday's sound" and the song is title for yesterday, in return for them performing they are gifted to take part and be included in the culture and get a real peek at what happens behind the palace curtains.. personally being half Chinese i see this as cultural appreciation
May I know, if it's okay with you, if you know also the symbolisms behind those clips like, 3 ladies, the man and empress (?), man hitting himself and the lady on bed? Thank you! Stay safe, brother 🙏
No, Míngtiān de shēngyīn literally means two things. " Tomorrow's voice" or as condensed the language is. Can also be seen as "I want to hear from the future, a voice that speaks to me. "
"I am deeply regretful to inform you, Your Imperial Majesty, that Joaquin Phoenix is unavailable. We had to substitute with...(grimace)...the _other Joker..."_
The more I watch this video the smarter I become, the more I listen the wiser I feel and the more i relate to what ever is happening here the more belonging I feel in this world. It is a gift.
What the hell are you talking about? I guess if you smoke enough weed or whatever drug of choice you take....but for those living in reality, this music video has no meaningful purpose.....is that the "absolute masterpiece" you refer too?
