as for the Bornon . each plant has its genetic origin , which means it requires/wants whatever was in the ground from where its from ( why we need to supplement ) . got to remember WE moved the plants , most of what we all grow isn't native to our area . a lot of plants work in rigs from the equator toward the poles. thats kinda where the zone chart came from . closer to the equatorial origin , can process more food , tolerate more heat and water and salt . where plants from further from the equator need less , can deal with colder temps ( chill hours vs tropicals who don't need chill hours , and why we can't grow a lot of fruit in FL that requires chill hours , and up north they can't grow mango outside ) and drought better and have a lower need for salt . that's an in general for plants , not just mango .
