Tbf that's kinda how it works in a lot of parts. You lose the strategically important spot (city, railway hub, etc) and there's no point in holding that area and it's better to pull back to a more defensible area. You can see things like this in the Tunisia campaign in 1943

However I was commenting on, and tell me if you get lost here, the many times Alex has started an invasion, all the tiles have green bubbles but one turns red and he halts the entire attack, I do hope this helped you understand what was going on in the originally comment. also a note: when you join or leave a faction, subjects divisions return to their control, so that's what happened to the Panama defenders, you joined the allies, and the Philippines took their army back
I'm not sure why Landon is the Confederate President he actually supported the New Deal (though was worried about spending.) He lost the Presidential election 523-8.
Also too bad you can't keep him, if you didn't choose McArthur then once you become confederate you can only get William Dudley Pelley who has no skills at all.
Step 1 to playing the USA: Don't do the Intervention focuses. They look good in theory, in practice they take so long to complete they're worthless compared to literally anything else you could do. Banking PP is even more useful.
@@Bluesonofman I suppose when you've hit the phase of the game where you've got no other focuses to complete, sure, knock yourself out. The only one I honestly like to snag is Intervention in Asia to pick up Vandegrift since he's the only US general that starts with the invader perk, and you will be launching a lot of naval invasions.
so, this was my save. As I said, I was building Military Factories since the start, but the Great Depression and Undisturbed Isolationism modifiers really slow down how long Factories take to build, even with 15 working on building. I only changed my production to what I did when I realized how much I'd be losing by giving up the Western US, I did get like military 5 built. As you said in your stream, you don't play the US too often, and yeah, those modifiers kill production hard. Also, I stopped going down the path to the civil war because of the situation I was in. also, i didn't get the captain of industry cuz i was trying to get an army command staff
@@atibaaier5426 i tried going straight for 14-4s. once he disbanded some troops, and reduced the infantry to 20 width, it was actually only like a deficit of 20k, which was mostly cuz i trained out extra 10 width cavalry with high priority to have more troops on the front lines
Yeah choosing Landon really slows down getting rid of the Great Depression debuffs in my opinion. I like going that path, but it is tedious till you finish all those focuses and can get to normal.
@@Fordo007 oh i know. but you can't do the alt history path to bring back the csa without alf. and if you do it, you can't do any focuses to improve your economy for a year. there's a reason I've never seen the ai actually trigger the second civil war despite seeing alf numerous times, because the ai has a set time to do an economy focus with non historical ai, under the default setting, which must be enabled for achievements. i could enable the option to force them down that path, but that disables achievements

@@greystoke8234 press x to doubt… The whole pre-war US military was less than half a million strong with the Army, the largest branch only being 190,000, the Navy was about 125,000, and the Marines about 19,500 in 1939 before the start of the “peacetime” draft. On a front about the size of the western Front in WWI with multiple nations fighting against them in the hypothetical situation in the video. Frankly the US would lose and lose hard in this scenario not so much because of Mexico, but primarily because a war with Canada also means a war with the UK and the rest of the British Commonwealth.
@@kerbalaerospacelabs3445 It says if Canada and Mexico joined the Axis, prewar US holds back any invasion from Canada or Mexico, but even if the UK also joined the Axis, for some odd reason, the US was already mobilizing prior to enter the war. Even if the coalition had overwhelming firepower like you think they would. Say they push across the border, logistics and supply strains start to slow them down, by this time the US would be able to field an army that could push them back and go on the offensive
@@greystoke8234 This is outside of them all joining the axis so as not to have to make too many logical jumps. So excluding Germany for a lack of potential headaches, the still US doesn't even have to face "overwhelming" firepower, the US military was smaller than that of Portugal in 1938, before they actually started mobilizing. The peacetime mobilization wouldn't start until a year later, and with basic training alone for the Army at the time lasting 17 weeks (a policy that wouldn't change till after the battle of the bulge), the US wouldn't be able to realistically mount a decent defense for over a year. By that time you already have troops from the entire commonwealth and Mexico not only across the borders but actually pushing a considerable distance. The fact of the matter is that if the US got into a war like that in 1938 they'd lose and lose hard. There's just too few men stretched too far over too many potential fronts. The only place where they'd have some sort of parity at that time would be against the Royal Navy, and with that they'd actually have a home field advantage.
@@kerbalaerospacelabs3445 they wouldn’t lose. They had a small military sure, but there’s more to war then just that. The USA still out numbers both those countries at once and has a very large industry. realistically, the incaders would lose more then they would gain

I am still pretty new to hoi4 and was playing napoleonic france, and went to war with germany, I saved when they made an offensive into the netherlands just in case then got absolutely demolished after trying to counterattack. Then I reloaded and instead hid behing rivers and let the germans kill themselves on my bparder and my naval blockade do its job, then I did a few attacks and stopped then I reached the rhine, and after a while, I made an attack and amrched past the rhine and before the germans could counterattack with their superior numbers and tanks I was able to get the soviets to join and germany got destroyed (this germany was also very strong because I had historical off and they were able to win a war with austria hungary which gave them czechoslovakia, austria and hungary, all before 1938
The citizens in this alternate timeline did not have the largest stockpile of small arms in the world. There was a typo in Second Amendment so it read: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and ARM BEARs, shall not be infringed." The 4 letters BEAR had been swapped with the 3 letters ARM. This lead to dramatic loss of gun ownership and the highest bear related casualties since the war between man and bear during the Great Ursidae ker-flufal, when an ragtag alliance of Canada, Iceland and Estonia managed to liberate the world from The Ursidae confederation of Alpha Centauri. The TYPO was probably caused by Urisdae agents in an attempt to prepare for another invasion. It is also why Canada fought so well in this save file. They have many veterans and experience with war.
You mean the time Canada had nothing to do with it because it was purely British troops, but it makes them feel like their country is actually important?

Plus how did the Civil War not happen in the US as he was playing? The original player took the Alliance with the Silver Shirts focus which starts a countdown to when a Civil War breaks out
i didn't even do anything wrong, i was just trying to win the second us civil war as the south for an achievement. with historical ai off Germany decided to remain fascist, and both Canada and Mexico did their focuses to join the axis and then Mexico attacked me
13/0 division isn't that bad, and it is only one infantry division short of 14/0 optimal division. Full infantry divisions are quite good, as they have a lot of organization, and they are cheap to produce. Also how come Canada have so many cavalry in 1938? This is staged.
@@ukaszk.6590 I would've loved Imperator Rome but development is stopped.. I go for crusader Kings 3 then. I watch a lot off vids and damn what that game has to offer is a lot imo.
@@AlextheRambler I know but the game changed 180 degree and is officially out of early access, you have to play it again especially the Italian campaign.
