@@bmedlin00 Large estates made their money off taxes and rents. They were responsible for their people. If you are a working-class person, paying taxes is how you pay your part of the dues.
@@bigbulk688 I don't disagree, but in that vein it should be entirely acceptable for this lady to pay her taxes as well. If I am understanding m jagusch s/he seems to be suggesting that she sell off her rightful inheritance to care for battered women. If the lady chooses to do so, well then fine for her, but to suggest that she should just seems absurd to me.
I had the same thought. In a lot of ways she meant well, but took it upon herself to impose her beliefs on others and gave no thought, it would seem, to the generations of her own family to come.
Give me the lightest colour of foundation and the darkest colour of red, and I'll try not to look goth while criticizing the only charitable woman in the family.
