They're called Transmetals, and the skeleton raptor was a Transmetal-2 Dinobot, so named so Megatron could dishonor the memory of the original Dinobot who joined the Maximals. Beast Wars was probably the single best Transformers show, and its plots were intense.

@@WhiteManOnCampus ah now I remember yeah they were so awesome I had all of them when I was a kid I had rat trap with wheels, the wolf bird hybrid, I had the scorpion cobra hybrid and the raptor, and obviously cheetor, Optimus and megatron and I think I had the spider also. But yeah that show was so good one of my all time favorite transformer shows the raptor was always my favorite but I also liked the hawk wolf hybrid. That line of toys were the best they were so fun to transform and I remember that rat trap you could pull it backwards and let go and it would go forward and the scorpion could suck up water and squirt it out the tail that was a cobra head
