The sausage doesn't look done. However, you could cook the sausage first, with onion and garlic, and then drain the grease before filling the pastry. I'd also add fresh spinach leaves before topping with the parmesan.
COOK THE ITALIAN SAUSAGE FIRST prior to assembling the layers of cream cheese and Parmesan on top to ensure the Italian sausage is fully cooked inside the puff pastry pie.
I just made this. Tonight for dinner I made this exactly as he did it except I sprinkled on a teeny bit of garlic salt, a touch of onion powder and a sprinkling of mixed Italian seasoning over the two cheeses prior to putting the top puff pastry on. I feel this does not alter the recipe to the point of true alteration. (Know what I mean?) -The one true alteration I did make is bake it for one hour because I wanted the puff pastry crust much more browned and crispy than only 35 mins gave me. It was very good. The meat cooked through, it was crispy. The spices made the flavor better for my family’s taste. I will make this again. It was really good! We stuffed ourselves. What I will do differently: 1. I’m not going to make the divets with the shot glass. It’s an unnecessary step. 2. I would cut the cream cheese in smaller pieces and dot them around to spread it out more. 3. I’d add the spices as I mentioned before. Bada bing friends; it was guud. 😋 👍🏽
@@nananurse6726 No, I didn’t precook it. I did have it in the oven longer though. One of the things about food in general (forgive me if I get a bit too philosophical here) people are used to seeing certain foods a certain way. For some, the pork in the video doesn’t look cooked through although it is perfectly safe to eat even with that grey tinge to it. It’s all about a good meat thermometer. You know that, you’re a nurse. I wanted my crust crustier so I left it in longer, but it would have been fine at 35 mins. It was really good. It’ll be a once every 6 week thing for us. We totally overate and ya know, not a great choice. 😃 I hope you enjoy it if you make it. Let me know how it turns out.
Dude! Roll your puff pastry to fit the dish! You don't need 4 sheets of the puff pastry. That's why both layers are still raw. Also cook the sausage first. It's raw, too.
That looks amazing. I followed your recipe but I also swapped out the cream cheese for mozzetta cubes and added a litle spaghetti sauce and fresh garlic to the second one. This recipe has an amazing number of options that would be delicious. Pesto could be introduced. Thank you for cooking this and sharing!!
I made this and it was so delicious. I added spinach on top of the sausage before the cheese and used pizza sauce for a dip. This meal was so fast and easy, I couldn't believe it. Perfect for busy, single working moms. Thank you!!!
I’m going to turn this fabulous recipe into a beautiful pizza pie!! Bell peppers, onions, black olives, and mushrooms cheese and I’m gonna decrease it to 300° and cook it for 50 minutes 😋♥️💯. Thank you for this fabulous recipe❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Looks yummy. I agree about browning the meat and adding spinach. I don't understand why the gloves stayed on after he handled the raw meat. He contaminated everything he touched after that.
He did not contaminate the cream cheese as he used all of it. And the wire whisk and brush were washed. However 😢 the oven did not need to have raw meat bacteria on it. Good recipe and one that can be altered for taste.
Good recipe. I am Italian and my mom and grandmother had all kinds of great pie recipes.. I am half Neapolitan and half Sicilian. Happiest of Holidays to all. Spread some Christmas joy to those around you. Be safe and have a blast. Hoping the New Year brings us good health. ♥️💚☃️🎄❄️⭐️⭐️
I would cook the sausage with onions, garlic, and bell peppers-- drain it well before putting in the pastry. It needs color, and also to be a one-dish meal, vegetables. Just make sure liquid is well drained before covering with cheese. Easy to make!
I've been mak8ng this for years. Personally, I cook the sausage. Sometimes, I add mushrooms, definitely mozzarella. You can put spinach sauté with garlic strain it, salt pepper if you want
That looks so decadent! There is a trend now where people don't cook and drain meat first before filling pies. It must work fine, but I would cook and drain, first. Either way, Lorenzo, this looks delicious!!!
It should cook just fine! The sausage is pressed into shape pretty thin and the depressions from the shot glass makes the sausage even thinner where the depressions are to better distribute the heat. Looks delicious!
I made this today it is great , my husband loved it , I just added pineapple and ricotta cheese, I didn’t have any Parmesan. But it was delicious. Thank you for this .
You need to cook te sausage first before you put it in the pastry dough.I think you should also bake the pastry dough a little bit first so you don't get a soggy bottom.
I was skeptical of how it'd look after baking (the twists), but wow 😊It is a delight to look at. The aroma, crunch and flavor; I will put this on my to-make list. ❤
Looks Delicious 😋 Thank you for sharing this recipe. I will make this just like you did, then maybe make one with diced onions, mushrooms and tomatoes, maybe even add some spinach. But it does look great just like you have it. 😋😋😋
I just came to the comments to see if anyone noticed him switch gloves after the sausage handling or did he proceed to handle everything in his kitchen with the pork gloves 😅
The sausage has to be cooked first or it's going to be a soggy mess and the pastry is going to be overcooked before the sausage reaches a safe temperature to consume.
Try precooking sausage with portobello mushrooms. When cooked, add cream cheese and then cover puff pastries, easier and tastier. I use Jimmy Dean sausage reg.
MMM MMM I love your recipe and I shared it with everyone. I subscribed to your channel, and look forward to learning more! You did a great presentation! 😊
I wouldn't put cream cheese with sausage and doesn't it need any seasonings? Mozzarella and some garlic would be good for me. That crust looks and sounds delicious!
I would tweak this with not so much cheese, no cream cheese at all, spaghetti sauce or seasoned tomato sauce, cook the meat first, season and drain. Some posters are complaining about the cost of puff pastry. Could probably mix up a Bisquick type mix or use biscuit dough for cheaper.
That's not tweaking a recipe. That is discarding the original recipe altogether and throwing a bunch of normal, everyday slop together to create a Pillsbury Impossible Pie. Biggy-wow-wow. 🙄
I would replace sausage with ground beef anyway. Then I’d cook ground beef in a skillet for few mins then go to this marvelous recipe 🥰 that is ground beef or shredded chicken would work (,
Looks good, but I think you would need 93/7 lean Grond beef preferably with goat cheese or motzzarell. and maybe 14oz. of Marinara with sausage and layer of fresh spinach the parmesan cheese then top crust. I would think 300 degrees for 1hr. This how I would make this dish. Thanks for sharing your recipe
Recheio de brócolis cebola picada queijos frescos alguns tomatinhos bacon fritos ficariam ótimos também né ?, mas valeu deve yer ficado bom para o seu gosto parabéns
