We rode the Glacier Express First Class from Zermatt to St. Moritz, Switzerland. The Glacier Express takes 8 hours and is the most scenic train in the world. Our trip was in February when the snow covered the ground, especially in Andermatt. Highlights of the trip include the Landwasser Viaduct, the Oberlap Pass, Andermatt, St. Moritz and Chur. We loved riding the Glacier Express. Switzerland is one of the best places to ride a train.
This is one of the best train routes in the world and the most scenic train we've been on.
We used the 1st Class Swiss Travel Pass to get our tickets.
Glacier Express 1st class tickets require a ticket and a seat reservation.
Our first class seats had large picture windows and table service for lunch.

I was an exchange student in Switzerland. I have wonderful train trip memories . The best memories of my life are of Switzerland and my Swiss family.

So gorgeous! We lived in Germany for 4 years in the 80’s and some of our most memorable trips were to the Swiss Alps to ski. The vids and photos don’t even do it justice.

for $330 , you could have bought a 3 days Swiss Pass first class ticket for Sfr. 244 (2nd class) or Sfr. 389 (first class) per person and it has unlimited validity on all trains, busses, boats and trams in the entire Switzerland. You only need to pay extra for the seat reservation on the Glacier Express.

Beautiful! I enjoy your channel(s) so much. The NYT had a train travel article where the writer duplicated the Orient Express route from Paris to Isatnbul via local trains. It was interesting reading and made me think of you.

Beautiful scenery, I'd like to see how the non-luxury car is before I'd decide if it was worth it---& I'd think for that price (per person, I assume) that meals would be included. But oh that scenery...

OFF-TOPIC Question: I have a question here that I posed before under one of your other videos. Don't remember getting any response. Hoping to get a response this time. A friend of mine is wanting to possibly get a room or a roommette rather, than doing an airplane trip due, to problems with her back and her knees. Being crammed in an airline seat is uncomfortable for her. Are there any ways of getting any sort of DISCOUNTED or, cut-rate prices for train travel? My friend wants to go from the East Coast (U.S) to IA. Any suggestions? Every time my friend looks into getting a train ticket for a room or a roommette accommodations she's finding that most of the prices are well over $1,500, in cost. It doesn't matter how far in advance she tries to buy her tickets, either. Is there some magic to it? Do you have any suggestions. I would really appreciate any ideas that you might have. Thanks.

I agree with the statement of the music, it's always the same & puts me to sleep!. I have been putting mute on & when you speak I turn off mute.

Finding background music that doesn’t cause copyright issues is an ongoing problem for RU-vid creators, and I understand why you often reuse music. There is one piece of music that is like fingernails across a chalkboard to me. It’s not in this video but was in last week’s “We Rode Every Amtrak Cross Country Sleeper Train” video. The annoying section sounds, to my old ears, a voice scatting “Icka bah, Icka bah, Ooh ooh ah ooh ah” over and over. Please make it go away. Please.

I love all the background music except the disco sounding elevator music they decided to play in the middle of the Swiss country side. I love the nice calming music they usually use . Fit the views.

I'm a loyal fan of your channels, so I hope you will excuse me for expressing a complaint. Your background music is getting on my last nerve. For any given video, it's okay, but after forty or so videos with EXACTLY THE SAME MUSIC it has become so intensely irritating that I can only bear to watch with the sound off. The so-called "music" is moronic, repetitive and drags the most majestic visuals down to its abject level of banality. PLEASE, I beg you, invest in some better music, or if you can't afford it or can't be bothered, just do without music altogether.
