As a person living on the west coast of Norway, it was so fun that you finally went and flew by a lot of the airports in the region, while I was trying to recognize them (Most of those airports are so small that only small Bombardiers land there).
Ok, to be fair, out of ~1020 Tu-154's built, 71 crashed. The most simmular aircraft produced in the West was Boeing 727. Out of ~1830 727's built, 119 crashed. As you can see, both the Tu-154 and the Boieng 727 have a simmular crash ratio of 6,5 to 7%. I honestly don't understand why the Tu-154 is belived to have crashed a lot, and I kind of feel like people confuse the Tu-154 with the Tu-104/124-these crashed a LOT-out of 370 built, 54 crashed, killing 1445 people, including 16 admirals of the Soviet navy
Sad to see Tu154 on forever park. Idk how it is now, but In city where I was living (Novosibirsk) There were like 5-6 Tu 154, 3 134, and IL-86 which is museum now
Infinite flight planes are much easier to fly than planes in xplane mobile, right? That’s mostly because infinite flight doesn’t have interactable cockpits. So, it is easier to fly. But if you’re a pilot and buttons in your cockpit doesnt work, you would be in danger since you cant use the plane properly.
On July the 1st 2002 52 Russian school children boarded a plane to be on there way to Barcelona in Spain. On the other side of the world a Dahl cargo plane was on its way to cross the path of the tu154m. In Zurich at a sky-gide base. The air traffic controller was Peter Neilson. He was left alone when the screen and phones were in fallback mode and in a tricky situation. 5 minutes before collision. The dhl pilot goes on a break leaving the co pilot alone. 2 minutes before collision. On both planes tcas let’s them know they are to close for comfort. The dhl tcas instructs it to descend. Meanwhile the tupolevs tcas instructs it to climb. 45 seconds prior to disaster. Peter finally realises that the two planes will collide mid air he instructs the tu154 crew to descend instead of climb. 10 seconds prior to disaster the dhl crew have told Peter they we’re descending because Peter was talking to the tu154 crew. Instead of listening to tcas the tu154 crew listen to Peter. 5 seconds from disaster. The tu154 crew finally listen to tcas but it was to late. 11:35pm all passengers immediately died due to no air pressure and the fire. At 35,000ft over uberlingen, Germany’s worst disaster happened. Now remembered as The Überlingen mid air collision.
Weirdly this Airplane made my childhood. the Engine sound still makes me all nostalgic and that. basically it reminds me of a simpler times, when all my worries were around my fish.
Try working out the nav computer, almost incomprehensible in a modern age of GPS. I can see why this plane had a 4 man cockpit, 2 pilots, an engineer, and a navigator. Not sure it's simulated in fsx, botom of the middle console. Works in flightgear.
The TU154 is one of the most classic airliners of all time. Good old technology. When operated correctly it's almost failsafe. Not a single bit less compared to Western Airliners. I suggest you get hands on a real (world) TU154 before you judge. Привет из Австрии!
