This Amazing Guitar was Under $200 IYV IPF 300 TSB and I am still pinching myself to make sure it's real.
About a month and a half ago I bought a new amp and I plugged in my Fender Squire strat and I was instantly disappointed. I wanted the full humbucking sound and I just could not get it with my strat!
This experience sent me on a search for an axe that was affordable (another starving musician here) but more importantly could give me the playability and sound I was looking for. So I checked out all the big names in guitar reviewers like Darrell Brawn and Max Guitars and frankly I was not really finding what I wanted.
What I wanted was something that was flashy looking, played great out of the box and had "the sound" I was looking for. A full bodied humbucking sound that I could not only use for rock but also for a full bodied clean sound and then play some blues as well.
So i went on a search through Amazon and I came upon IYV guitars, they had several listed.
If you liked this video please comment!

I agree 👍, I've had to do little setup things to each one, but they are quality guitars at an affordable price

I have this same model, as well as the IP-350 solid body version! The IPF-300 is without question the lightest guitar I’ve EVER seen! I absolutely love mine, for this reason as well as others. One thing you didn’t mention is that it seems slightly neck heavy-only SLIGHTLY though, and definitely not as bad as something like a Gibson SG or an Explorer. The solid body IP-350 weighs ~7.5 lbs, so it’s slightly heavier, but it balances better, if you care about that sort of thing. I also find the IPF-300 more warm and “airy,” while the IP-350 seems a bit more punchy and articulate, and has better sustain. That said, I’d still pick up the IPF-300 any day when I just don’t feel like handling heavy weight. I’ve also become a huge fan of the PRS style generally after experiencing these IYV models!

Some great mentions and I love them too! I don't find mine "neck heavy" maybe that's because I played bass in a dozen bands but with the strap I use it's sits on me just right. Your so right it's about the lightest guitar I've ever played but not in the pickups dept, they really rock and have a great balance 👌
@zuperdee
@zuperdee 2 года назад
@@dennyps1 I notice the neck dive more when sitting down, unless I play in the classical position as opposed to the cowboy position. Absolutely, the pickups are good enough that I don’t think I’d bother changing them. Some would even say they’re unusually bright and articulate sounding for PAF-style humbuckers. Gotta hand it to Paul Reed Smith-he definitely did a few things right in the PRS model that IYV has copied here. Some people may think that vine inlay is a bit “busy,” but it seems well done, and I think it’s possibly even more fun than the PRS birds!
@dennyps1
@dennyps1 2 года назад
I completely agree on the pickups, I wouldn't change them, I like how they sound clean and with overdrive. Frankly before I bought this beauty the thing that attracted me the most was the vine inlay on the fretboard. It also has the added benefit of forcing me out of my habit of watching my fingers and using the fretboard as a cheat to find my left hand position 😅, because it's so busy.

You hit it right on with the reminders that these guitars must be setup. Not complaining just telling like it is. I have bought 2 IYV's and both were pretty good out of the box but still needed a lot of setup tweaking. If you can't do it your self some of the minor almost to be expected issues are a bit time consuming. I did get one that had to be returned due to the bridge post hole being drilled off center. Caught that fast and back it went. The replacement needed all the "expected" adjustments. Which took hours of minor adjustments and rechecking. Cost me nothing but time but if someone isn't up to the task or has no interest in learning that cost cost a bit.

Just picked up an IPF 300. What a steal! This guitar is EASILY comparable to an Epiphone ES-339, if not better. I've had a few Epiphone's that were turds. I can not believe they're able to produce a guitar of this quality for +/- $200. If it were a "Name Brand" (Epi, Squier, Gretsch, ect ect), it could demand and be worth $599 all day long. Thx for the Great Review! You got yourself a New Sub 👍🏻 Merry Christmas, Mike....
@dennyps1

I've heard nothing but good about that guitar 🎸 congratulations 🎊. In my opinion, a "name brand" can be a really nice investment, but in comparison to some of these inexpensive ones, it used to be apples and oranges when it comes playability and overall sound. Not anymore. These day's there are brands like IYV (and others) that are putting out some first class guitars. Personally I'm done being impressed by a name. I want to know how it sounds, looks, and plays and that's how I judge each individual guitar, on it's own merit

When I play this guitar I own one stock version and another one that has been modified with pickups and Tuners. The necks on these guitars or the closest I've ever found of any brand to ever actually looking and feeling like a real Gibson it kind of blew my mind it reminded me of my Gibson SG

Got mine recently when they dipped to $161.50. Lowest price I’ve seen on it. Feather weight like the IJZ-300 (that I scored at $159!) What a great value (even at their more common higher prices around $200)

Sorry for your luck on the bad hardware, but honestly, it's an easy fix and well worth the time & effort to do. After reading, literally hundreds of positive reviews on this guitar over the years, my experience included, I would say, replace the pots and play it. Or just sell it and get your $ out of it. It's one of my personal favorite IYV guitars 🎸

Have six iyv guitars. I have two of this exact model. 1 is completely stock and sit in the case and I rarely play it cuz I want to take really good care of it. The second one has bare knuckle aged bronze humbucker in the bridge, and an aged nickel P90 in the neck. It sounds awesome wired up this way but at the same time I still want to have a stock one these are great guitars and I decided I liked it so much I decided to order a second one

GREAT Video! AS A PLAYER WHO HAS NOTHNG BUT HIGHER END GEAR I AM TOTALLY IMPRESSED WITH THIS GUITAR AND I like it even better becaise of the low cost Lol! For me this is a great practice guitar, And When I say great I mean it really is just fantastic! I usually wouldnt even look at a guitar that doesnt have a nitro finish But on this guitar I dont know what the finish is but it looks fantastic! I dont know what the wood really is, but it feels great and looks great! The fretboard looks great and feels great also. This guitar that cost under $200 plays just as good as my CS GIBSON Historic lespaul custom. But that like comparing apples and oranges. Look it This is a superb practice guitar for any level of Guitarist from a Beginner to a intermediate player to a studio Pro player. I felt like buying 3 or 4 of these guitars but what would I do l with them all lol? Too bad there wasnt different finishes . Anyways if your on the fence just go for it Cheers!

I tried to get into this market but the cheap nature got me. I bought a 335 from Grote and it had some bad issue's. Frets lifted, basswood everywhere, crappy nut and just crappy setup. . FYI I'd you're monitised, you should know, the commercials that run on here are 3 minutes long.
@dennyps1
@dennyps1 8 месяцев назад
Sorry for your luck on the Grote but it's pretty normal to find at minimum, setup issues with online guitars in general and not just inexpensive guitar's. When you buy guitars online it's a bit of a crap shoot. Some are definitely better in quality than others. I follow daily IYV fb groups and although occasionally folks that buy IYV guitars get one with some setup issues for the most part, they are very happy with their purchases. My advice is give IYV a chance, especially on this model. Not monetized on this channel yet, but close then, I'll have a little more say over the commercials and their length and frequency. Be well and Merry Christmas

@GUFFYissingle What I can tell you is this. 1 it's beautiful, and that's what caught my eye. A lot better than the pictures 2. It will likely need a setup and strings, but that being said, out of the 7 IYV guitars I own, it's my favorite to play because it's exceptionally playable. 3. The action on it is one of the Lowest actions of all my 30-ish guitars. 4. The price has actually gone down since I bought mine (which makes me scatch my headache to why, probably because of competition). 5. If you buy from Amazon, it's a no brainer keep it for a couple of weeks, and if you don't like it, send it back. 6. As far as sounds go, it plays heavy distortion to a nice light, clean sounds equally well. 7. I've done 0 mods to mine (which is highly unusual for me) I like it just the way it is. 8. Yes I chose to replace the strings, Re-Hydrate the fretboard, setup the string height and that's about it.

It's a very comfortable neck I'd call it a D shaped neck but thin at the headstock, and up the neck as well. So it's very comfortable even for small hands. The scale length is 25 and a full 24 frets. Overal, it's a fun player. If you're used to watching your fingers and fret markers on the fretboard, it'll be an adjustment with the fancy scrolling but a fun challenge indeed.
