Ford has just updated the Mustang Mach-E GT for the 2024 model year, and it's quite the beast! Nikki just got her hands on one - and here's what she thinks!
I agree that only a sleek coupe, rear wheel drive, should get the mustang name (call it a laser maybe), but I disagree it needs to be a V8 fuel guzzler to qualify. As a sports/muscle car, it totally needs to be electric, if anyone is serious about wanting a performance coupe. I say the same for all serious performance car makers. Nothing performs better than EV motors. Sports/muscle cars and electric are a natural fit.
I was not a fan of Ford using the name "Mustang" for the Mach-E. But it is a compelling vehicle in its own right, so I bought on a couple years ago. After over two years of driving it, I find that it does indeed fit the "Mustang" name. Mine is a RWD, and it is more than happy to break loose cornering with a little accelerator pedal shove, and the ride on the non-Magnaride versions is VERY stiff. Stiffer than an old '60s/'70s Mustang by a *LOT*. Note, I still call mine just a "Mach-E", I don't call it a Mustang; but at least it isn't a complete embarrassment to the name. I mean, Chevy's going to make a Corvette full-on-SUV; at least the Mach-E is just a hatchback with delusions of offroadiness. (Although the Rally should fix that.)
@@AnonymousFreakYT but take a look at the Mach E, that's why I called it a "thing". The Mustang name is used to leverage sales of an SUV. It's a butt-ugly thing, only a mother could love..... The Dodge Charger looks like a muscle car, sounds like a muscle car, shakes like a muscle car, and is upgradable OTA (small power-ups) and when purchasing (massive power-ups). And Dodge likes to be the most "muscle car" of the US manufacturers - who built the Demon, Super Stock, Hellcat, Red Eye, Jail Break, Demon 170. I guarantee some form of the new Charger EV, once the bugs are ironed out, will be a Tesla Plaid beating beast FYI I have a Mustang, 2 Hellcats and several Aussie XR8's, and I am ashamed that Ford devalued the Mustang badge on that "thing"
