This Anime Will Break My Heart Won't It... 86 -Eighty Six- Episode 2 

I see this going the route of Iron Blooded Orphans....and I'm not ready.

I usually don't ship but the bond between Lena and Undetaker is so wholesome. I'm intrigued in seeing their relationship develop and I love the characters. They're all so distinctive an entertaining

the fight scene had more budget than the entire Ex-Arms anime!

That discussion at the end of the episode was a giant death flag. Handler chan should know better than to ask her entire company "What do you want to do after the war ends?"

2nd episode and we already got a sawano drop. I'm happy the action is visualized now because reading what shin does in the light novels are hard as fuck.

A friend of mine who watched Iron Blooded Orphans told me the setting of this anime is wayyyy too close to it... Here's hoping it diverges significantly from this point forward. And yeah, next week's episode title: "I don't want to die!" ... prepare for blood

As the LN reader, when i hear their predictions of what may come, i cant help but smile because man! You guys dont know just what kind of ride you are in for. Makes me realize even more just how great Asato Asato's writing is. I found the 86 LN at random because I needed something to entertain myself. At the time, there were only a handful of reviews but dove in cause I love Mech. But it was not what I expected. That said, im just sooo happy this series is getting a lot of attention.

I sorta finished all the English light novels, and if this anime does the light novels well, especially the first one, its gonna punch chibi and me and everyone else straight in the face, it’s gonna hit hard

86 and vivy are currently my top favorites from this season with the new 300 slime anime being 3rd. i already knew edens zero was gonna be good so i'm not really counting that.

It was their reaction to her say his tour was almost up that gave me the most to think about. I don’t think there is a good ending for any of the 86’s.

The thing with Anju is that she's mixed blood, her pale-blue eyes come from Celesta ancestry, which got her exiled despite being from a mostly Alban family, pure Alban have silver eyes and silver/silver-blue hair.

This season i have the exact same feeling with 86, Vivy, To Your Eternity and Fruits Basket S3 It's gonna be a rainy spring for sure

an 86 in most industries means you've ran out of something, so I expect literally everyone in this anime to die

Silver hair and silver/gray eyes is the symbol of the celestian blood. Blue eyes are from a diffrend race, a diffrend bloodline and they are deemed to be an 86.

The only anime that made me cry at the end of every episode whether the end of the episode was sad or happy, they put a song at the end credit of the 1st season that assures u cry. But it's worth every drop of tear, it's just beautiful!

The republic reminds me of marley with them brainwashing others saying that the 86 are not humans like the eldians. Not the same story but sorta reminds me of it

I am fond of anime having themes centered around war, lack of equity and equality, a corrupted government+society and oppression. While I was swept away by the battle scene and how the squad skillfully maneuvered their juggernaut, I missed the point of their technology not being up to date until you mentioned that. It now makes sense to me that's how it is since they count on their blacksmith to repair their machines and the constant reminders of what or what not the juggernaut is capable of withstanding. I also think I won't be able to handle the tragedy and cruelty of the said assumptions actually happening T-T I'm also going to read the light novels so I'm quite eager to know how the story develops

After this and Vivy anime is doing better in Sci fi after taking a backseat for many years. Sci fi needs to become more popular in anime to give Isekai a run for it's money.

I just finished the first vol a couple days ago and the ending nearly made me cry

Glad Chibi pointed out that Anju, Snow Witch, had similar features to Rena, but it's just a shame their major difference isn't really stated until wayyyy later in the novels. All in all, I love the way Chibi thinks, and won't spoil anything for you guys, but he did say some things that I also at first wished would happen, but later saw that would have messed with the dynamic of future relationships

The opening animation has a mini spoiler on who's gonna last the longest so I'd suggest skipping or just not watching if you like listening to 3-pun 29-byou Also the San Magnolia has just one superior piece of technology, which will be explained on cour 2.

Maybe, the republic is indeed being overconfident of its military capabilities and the legions will function over that '6 years' limit.. Its also hinted throughout the two episodes of their overconfidence (eg: MC's female friend urging her to quit military because it will be obsolete in 2 years in EP1, the vibe of the classroom in EP2, the general vibe of a urban upper class of the republic..)

To be honest I am afraid for the handler character. She is doing things that mark her as a target for disposal. Not surprised if the government will try to assassinate her and label her death as another victim of suicide due to that squad. I am very curious what happened to her father. I feel the only thing that may delay that is her age.

Ok, this is me theorizing how is the 86 anime story is gonna go. I haven't reed the light novel or read about it in internet....cause there seems to be little information. If you have more information or don't want to be somewhat spoiled because of what I'm writting, then skip this comment. I basically see two scenarios. Scenario 1: The whole war started pretty much how so far we know, San Magnolia got into a clonflict with the other nations because of their view of the 86 district and their people and how they seem to have this vision of Alba people as real people and the rest as not human. The war escalated to the point that the other nations created unmaned units that would fight the war for them and for a time San Magnolia was loosing until they started using the 86 as pilots for ther "unmaned" units, then gaining the upper hand and basically dominating in this war. The other nations started to develop an A.I that could control their unmaned units and this A.I. ended terminating the other nations and now is actually running out of energy, which is mainly the reason for this A.I. to keep attacking San Magnolia. Because San Magnolia actually developed an infinite source of energy and they know that barricading themselves and just fighting a war of attrition will allow them to win. But the thing is, even winning, the 86 will eventually be exterminated, since San Magnolia only sees Albas as real humans. Leena and Spearhead try to change this and actually Lena's father was doing the same and he was murdered. Lena was put in charge of Spearhead's squad because she has the same ideas as her father and, since all commanders have gone crazy or suicidal, they put her ther so that one of those happens. In the end, the leader of San Magnolia will try to sieze the A.I. and use it as means to expand and erase the 86 and other races. Scenario 2: The war starts pretty much for the same reasons as in Scenario 1, but San Magnolia actually developed the A.I. and the unmaned units that they are fighting, they basically provided them to the other nations under the table, the A.I. had basically one goal, to exterminate all other nations. The unmaned units from the other nations are not really unmaned, basically people is transformed into this units by extracting their thoughts and implanting them into the units and basically brainwashing them into accept orders from the A.I.. The whole war is basically a ruse, to eradicate all races except the Alba and leave San Magnolia as the beacon of humanity with "true" humans living there. The 86 are actually refugees from other nations that arrived to San Magnolia with the "promise" that they would be welcome into their society, but in reallity they were shunned and used as canno fodder for the war. San Magnolia created their "unmaned" units to be piloted by the refugees, telling them that this was the way to earn their place in their society. Lena's father was digging into this, since in his view, yhe 86s should be by default considered humans, and was trying to pass some sort of legislation so that this would happen and probably gaining supporters. He was murdered because he was close to figuring out the whole truth Lena has the same ideals and that is the reason she was reassigned to Spearhead squad, so she could be silenced. Lena and Spearhead will discover this through out all the series and find out that there are actually refugees from other nations that never went to San Magnolia, but created an army and are actually been fighting this A.I. for quite a while. San Magnolia is actually the result of some sort of experiment from an out of earth entity (yes, an alien entity), probably an alien civilization that wants to create the perfect being from humans and the Alba is the result of that and they have been all the time the masterminds, that try to reduce human population and supplant them with a more controllable and docile version, hence all Alba has basically the same characteristics and have certain abilities that allow them to "see" other things (the communication devices they have). I could elaborate more, but I think this are the more likely scenarios based on other animes and storys with similar premises. What do you think? I'm too close, too far? To farfetched?
