As someone who was born on an island where reggaeton possibly originated(?), I can wholeheartedly say that I 100% feel your pain.

Living in Florida, this damn beat is EVERYWHERE. Latin music has many different rhythms, but this is the only one you hear. It doesn’t matter what tempo or sounds are applied to it. It is all this rhythm and it is maddening.

Don't get me started on this Bernth! The Reggaeton beat is blasting from every car on hollywood blvd here in Los Angeles. It's like we're not allowed to use anything else now

At one point on time, either in 2010 or 2013, this beat was on EVERY DAMN SONG ON THE RADIO. It lasted pretty long until trap beats came along, and ended up becoming the following trend.

I did an essay in college last semester about reggaeton and this beat. The thing is it's so simple and versatile that you can apply it to basically any genre you want, which makes me like it, but i hate it because everyone freaking uses it and won't chill.

That drumbeat is all i hear in the streets, people's cars, mobile phones, etc. It feels just like the end of commercial music for the sake of music. BERTHN, get this song all over the radios ;-) (please)

Honestly speaking, the problem arises only when you use this beat for whole song unironically, but it can be added for certain feel (like in Norwegian Reggaeton by Nanowar of Steel), or for creating great groove (like in Petrichor by Ignea (sick band, sick song))

I have to mention Melechesh who uses this beat/rhythm sometimes: Genies, Sorcerers And Mesopotamian Nights Secrets Of Sumerian Sphynxology Rebirth Of The Nemesis These are some of the very few exeptions that do use it! They usualy use more complex rhythms more often.

I spent a lot of time in india for work, where this rhytm is used a lot in traditional and popular music. So getting back to usa, and i heard this in a radio hit, as well as booming from every tricked out honda civic driving down the road, i was puzzled that it was called reggaeton and had been around for years. I was thinking to myself how come indian music is suffenly such a trend.

As someone living in Bulgaria, I hear this rhythm TOO often. The leading genre here is chalga (a mixture between pop and folk music). Every goddamn song uses this rhythm and that's a total pain for me as a metalhead.

This was every single song, on every radio station, in every restaurant, in every bar, in every club, out of every car window, and every private residence, with no reprieve, for two straight weeks. I literally got panic attacks. Intelligence agencies use this as a form of torture, but these people are subjecting themselves to it voluntarily.

Hahahahahahaha You ain't wrong bro!!! It helps though when you've had a few drinks and you're in a club setting dancing. I worked with a dude from the Dominican Republic and he would be jaming to his music all day on his portable speaker and it always had the same drum beat in every song. Plus it was coming through the wall so you could only hear the bass hittin on that beat. Hahaha It agrivated me then but I miss that dude now. Ragaetone I think its called used the hell out of that beat though.
