I don't listen to this song too much, mainly because it evokes SUCH emotion in me because of the raw emotion Chris put into it. This song takes me back 8 years ago, to a failed relationship with my 1st ever love and the feeling that the heartache would NEVER go away. This song is SO incredible, I've grown up, got married, have 2 beautiful children, but this song takesme right back to that time.
I love how heavy this song is, he's literally crying in this song. Not to many songs I've heard that do that, let alone pull if off so beautifully. True emotion.
The song is so heart filled, you can literally feel his pain in his voice you can feel your heart tugging and the tears breaking from your eyes, its such a strong song, the lyrics are powerful.
The kind of song that makes you think about your own life... deep stuff. Came across it about 4 years ago in uni while someone was busy sabotaging a relationship, and kinda seemed to fit in well ^^
Well, I think that goes hand in hand with his music. One of the themes of his message is that money doesn't equal happiness, or more appropriately, money doesn't ease the pains of real heartbreak. And don't confuse complaint with lament. Then again, that's just my take on it.
This song is amazing and that's why all who try and cover it on RU-vid should be publicly humiliated, because i have not seen one that does the song justice.
so me and a good friend of mine were eating sunflower seeds and just belting out this song cuz you cant listen to it and not do that,> Well when the line "swallow choke and die" came on my friend only got as far as "swallow ch" and then she started choking on her sunflower seeds, i mean really legitimately choking! Like choke cough cough cough lmao! It was like some kind of a cosmic joke the timing was pefect. To this day i dont know if anything has made me laught that hard lol
@cacapipi87 I get the same thing and i also get that he is PISSED and I LOVE it. all the old school DC is so angry and then he gets happy in the last 2 albums...
I agree and disagree with you. In the one sense you never really lose that feeling of what he writes about and in the other you slightly grow out of it and learn to maintain. But either way I really like DC anyways.

Yer I guess you're right, but you'd think he'd have grown from it? If it was real heartbreak or whatever in the first place you'd think he would have matured and learnt from that? But my main point was most of his latest stuff just doesn't seem as genuine? Like he's forcing it just for the sake of making music, he's ran out of relevant things to say so he's just forcing and repeating what he already has? Just one mans opinion on it though could be because I've grown out of it.
this is a fucked up song... I went through a real life version of this... she did this when she was 16... 2 years ago (she was 23) she actually killed herself and she left behind a husband and a 4 year old daughter.....
I used to love DC when I was younger but I find it really hard to take the guy seriously now, he's still singing complaints about girls who wouldn't hold his hand in high school when he's living in his mansion etc etc just seems a bit too forced nowadays I duno.
