Please, "Girl With The Dogs", can you please do something about pornography links being posted whenever someone makes a comment. An individual can only do so much by reporting it to RU-vid, there's probably a way that you, as the channel owner, can keep these pests away. Thank you.

That’s definitely understandable. It’s a kick in the feels is most effective until uninterrupted. As a person with a soft spot for border collies. That was messed up, what the owners did. Good thing a family saw that girl needed some love. I know this is why I’m blunt about my Shiba Inu. People see a cute dog and then dog gets older, then toss it. In most cases telling price gets people to go “oh fuck!” Almost bred him, but the owner of the female was lazy, in it for money and didn’t know he had a Mame(Bean-sized) Shiba Inu. Don’t plan to breed in the future.

We are very experienced dog owners (Norwegian Elkhound, Australian Shepherd and Rhodesian Ridgeback/Mastiff X) who have been missing a dog in the house since our last pet passed away in Feb 2020. @@saleen367 Right but what in the ever living fuck did the owners do to deserve to be the butt end of that message. They didn't treat their pet like you treat your car. They didn't trade up when the old one wasn't working anymore. They didn't abandon it in a junkyard for a few hundred bucks. They didn't sell it on the marketplace. The message is utterly lost because the situation she used as a jumping off point to talk about the message has absolutely fucking nothing to do with the message. Like I seriously don't get how more people didn't notice that. It went from talking about a completely understandable situation to LITERALLY OUT OF NOWHERE brow beating the people in the story, like what?

@@plap. The person didn't defend the owner of the dog in the video lol. They simply said not everyone's situation is the same. Your comment was talking about how people (in general) need to keep the pet for life without considering how their life and situation could change over time. Allergy? job relocation? financial status? It is wrong of an owner to get a pet but give up because it's "take too much effort". However, I rather someone gives up their pet to another person who can take care of them instead of abandon them or not giving them the best life for fear of judgement from people like you (who expecting the owner to keep the pet forever even if they can't take care of said pet). The pet deserves the best life possible from someone who love them and can take care of them. If the owner can't take care of a pet, they need to let the pet go (preferably back to a responsible breeder).
@plap.
@plap. 2 года назад
@@ncrest4365 my comment was on the video. These were wealthy people who showed an animal then tossed it when the elderly part of this animals life was more than they wanted to deal with. You all are braudening the spectrum. Since you have. Some times things happen yes, but to many take the pet decision to lightly . Everyone loves a puppy but foresight should affect that decision.10 to 15 year responsibility. If you can't handle that there is a choice to get a fish. People who have parrots have to consider them in their will because they could live a hundred years, It's called being an adult. They should feel remorse for a bad decision, to prove they have a soul and think harder next time. I would love a capybara, but right now couldn't give what is nessasary for proper care,so I don't have one. Lost my place to live years ago found a place for my cat untill I corrected that situation then went and got my cat back. Sorry if someone can't see ten years down the road or lied to themselves about an allergy. It is still wrong however you justify it. Whatever you need to make youself feel better. Don't worry how an animal feels. Would you make the same excuses if it was a child. Plenty of people do that too.
@ncrest4365
@ncrest4365 2 года назад
@@plap. You make a lot of assumption about a hypothetical scenario. Who lied to themselves about an allergy? I'm not saying people who give up on pet because of hardship is right. Btw, I never have a dog or cat, never abandon one, but I seen many stories where people forcing themselves to take care of a pet they don't want to take care. Now, that is real selfish. Your mentality doesn't help them to give the pet to a better owner. Keep in mind, I didn't make excuse to anyone. I clearly said, "abandon your pet because of hardship is not right". Also, what do you mean by if someone can't take care of pet like cat and dog, they should get a fish instead? That's a bad advice because as far as I'm aware, fish is easier to die, take more effort to keep them alive and require a higher maintenance. You make it sounds like one pet is worth more than the other. Smhh.

Maybe so, but some ppl develop allergies that they never even had before because of prolonged exposure to animals. My mom had no allergies prior to us adopting a german shedder puppy & now 9 years later her nose is always congested and she takes pills to help with her cough. Giving away our (now senior) babygirl was never even considered cus she became part of the family instantly but I can't exactly judge some ppl that harshly because they chose their own health over a pet....BUT straight abandonment/kicking your pet out of your house without finding it a home to live in first, is and always will be inexcusable.

I'm 56yrs old and have had several dogs throughout my life. I cannot comprehend "getting rid" of one of my dogs just because they're getting old. In my experience, that's when I loved them even more. Dogs do change when they get older; they rely on you more, they follow you around more, and they definitely need more of your time and attention. I hurts my heart trying to imagine how traumatic it must be for these dogs whose owners abandon them after they have shown nothing but trust, loyalty and love.

If you can give away a dog because it's old, you're incapable of any kind of meaningful love for anything. Dogs were bred to love us and rely upon us. It's our responsibility as owners to either love them in return or never get one in the first place. Betraying a dog's love is betraying a contract our 2 species made millennia ago. There's no honor in breaking such a contract.

@@sanicpowers6253 it sounds like they were having trouble rehoming her and contacted a rescue that specializes in dogs in her age group. We don't know the breeder's situation, if she would have fit into the breeder's home, or what the arrangement with the rescue looked like. What we do know is that the breeder provided a better fit than the shelter the family dumped her in, which resulted in an adoption. Taking responsibility for the dogs you produce later in life doesn't mean that you'll always be prepared to take them into your home. But it does mean that you'll do what you can to find an appropriate next step. Often breeders will re-home adult dogs to people who contact them looking for an adult dog of that breed, but most of those people aren't looking for a senior so it makes sense for a breeder to contact a group that specializes in senior rescue.

She developed geriatric-onset epilepsy and we less peppy, but enjoyed herself and still palled around with the other dogs in my office (they would travel in a pack, visiting other offices all day for more treats and pets) just days before she passed away. They are wonderful dogs.

I am pleasantly pleased to just find out that our area has a program called seniors for seniors. It's well known that elderly and disabled live longer and have overall better physical and emotional health when owning a pet. However many seniors/disabled do not have the financial resources to own a pet. This program works to match a senior dog or cat with a low income senior/disabled human. They become thier forever foster. The shelter still owns the pet and provides all expenses for vets, food, litter, grooming etc... It's a win win for both senior pet and senior human. So glad this beautiful border collie found a forever home!😊

She reminds me of “our” old dog-she wasn’t ours, the was the owner of the house we were renting’s dog, but was living out at the house because her owners moved to a city where she was miserable (like legitimately depressed). She was an old border collie mix. She was so sweet. Even though she was old she was full of energy. She LOVED being outdoors. The property had a decently large yard and we let her go out on a very long lead tied to a tree so that she could run around and play but not go off the property. She took care of our cat and kittens. We moved out because the house owner’s son wanted to buy the house and the dog stayed with them. She passed away a short time later. I miss her, even if she wasn’t technically “our” dog. Wow, that was 5 or 6 years ago too…

" A pet isn't an item. You don't throw it away when it's no longer of use to you." Damn, that is so true. I think many people refuse to acknowledge that animals have feelings too, and they are not there just to gratify the owner. This is especially important for people who are getting pandemic pets to listen to understand, and reflect on the responsibility they are taking up. That being said, she looks absolutely beautiful, and you did such a good job on her! It's always such a pleasure to watch you work! I am so happy that she got a forever family! Hope she has a great life😊

If I’m to be honest I was one of those people.. “oh it’s just a dog, not a human”.. bla bla bla.. then I rescued a 3 week old puppy someone tossed into the street ( LITERALLY ).. and I became this little beans mom, she weighed ounces, was covered in fleas and looked scared and miserable! The pain and hurt in her eyes mixed with a touch of hope murdered me.. it was love at first sight. She’s now 3 and curled up warm and safe in my lap. Turns out she’s a Schnoodle pup, her tail was broken in several places so the vet says that’s why she was tossed out. Well, fuzzy broke tail and all I love her like I love my own children. She’s my world. And that is how I became a dog person ❤️🤗

Exactly! You get an animal, it is a forever animal. I’m more of a bird person. I’ve had birds since I was a kid. I’ve had a lot of surgeries. They are angels…every bird I’ve had. One even found me at a hospital, as I recovered from surgery. He flew to my window. We brought him in. Had him for 23 years. A friend once told me, due to my condition, that I should get “rid” of them. Her mom told her this. I love my friend. But, to be honest, I love my animals more. I don’t care if I starve. Whatever animals I have, throughout my life, will be forever animals. 💯

Partly to blame are the people who gift others animals without making sure the receiver is actually prepared to care for their new pet. It's cute until it's not. And social media doesn't help when the video is 30seconds long but doesnt show the before and after preparation and results. Pets cost a lot of resources, be it money, time, emotions, energy. They're not objects. Sorry for the long rant.

For all the love they give us, our pets deserve it back. Bit of a flip, but I'm reminded of a close friend who adopted a cat, only to find out she had a lot of medical issues (the shelter was overcrowded and giving pets away just to free up space and staff... regrettably things were missed). He stuck with her, looked after, and got her healthy. It took over two months, but she's happy as can be now - and the love and care he showed her is definitely returned!

Because of all those terrible stories of shelters overfilled with abandoned pets I once decided to check out my local animal shelter in a city of about 2.5k people and they had like three dogs with problematic behaviour/past that they were not giving away to first-time owners or families. I guess that's a good thing, not many pets who were just "thrown away" for no good reason. The animal shelter in my current city has more dogs but they list reasons why their previous owner gave them up, usually biting the owner or not doing well with kids or some previous trauma, making the dog extremely high-maintenance. I'm glad these dogs are at least not just given away for no reason at all.

I just heard someone saying in a video that ‘dogs are people’ . I like that view . Dogs are in fact sentient beings , roughly meaning that they think , and feel , and experience sensations as we do . That is what the man meant when he said dogs are people . If we treat animals as things we are incredibly cruel . Dogs require most of what we do in order to happily thrive . The foremost of these things is love , closely followed by such things as security , food , shelter , and so on. They feel as people do when they are deprived of these things , maybe worse actually , because they have no idea why this happened , or what to do .

I've never understood how older animals are "harder" to find homes for-- older animals have settled personalities; you know what you're getting when you adopt or foster a senior animal, they know their needs and can communicate them to you just because they've been around the sun a bit longer than a young animal. I've never once given up a pet because they were old or unhealthy. Good on the breeder and the shelter for doing the right thing, especially since (as far as I've noticed) a lot of people who want purebreds want them because they can say "I was able to afford it" --and then when the shine wears off the animal is treated like any other disposable status symbol. I hope the shelter gets a nice influx of donations from this video!

I would imagine older dogs and cats are harder to adopt out because older pets (like people) can have medical conditions that some people are not ready to handle. They also may have less years left, and if someone is looking for a dog or cat that will be around for more years, they're likely to pick a young one. That's probably why.

Mandy was with us for a little over 2 years and played frisbee every day until the day before she passed. We could have played to the idea that she was just a visitor, living out her life in a little more comfort than a shelter, but we always had a trio of dogs and Mandy restored that. During the recent lockdowns, a *lot* of people bought a dog. Some of these people were responsible owners who recognised that a dog is for life & are prepared to invest the time & money in giving the animal a loving, caring home. Others, once they (or the child?) got bored with the responsibility of dog ownership or found that they couldn't afford the costs involved have cast the dog aside. The fortunate dogs have finished up in the rescue centre & these centres are struggling to cope with the sheer number of animals. The unfortunate ones can finish up roaming the streets, abandoned, unloved & uncared for. Thank you for highlighting the importance of being a good & caring pet owner.

I will never understand how people can just get rid of a pet like that, it breaks my heart and I am very glad she has found a new forever home, she deserves it as she is a beautiful dog

Getting a pet is a huge responsibility which should not b failed..💪💪 Would such irresponsible owners appreciate being surrendered into an old age home whn they hit the so called surrender age.... Tons n loads of respect to such groups catering to senior pets..👌👏👏.also kudos to families who reach out for senior dogs..👏👏...

I didn't know breeders, reputable or not, did that kind of thing. Thanks to the breeder (and HUGE kudos to them, as well) for saving Kayla after her family decided they didn't want her, anymore.

This angers me to no end. I adopted my first border collie, "Hazel The Razel-Dazzel" a 3 year old, from a shelter were she was dumped by her owners because her hips were ruined from them training her for competition too early. I found out they actually tied her to a tree in the park and someone found her. I spent 14 beautiful years with her. She had to be trained to play. They crated her all the time and she had no spark. I did a great job teaching her to hike, run, play, swim and sit on the couch. I miss her a lot. I now have another 3yr old border collie aussie shepard mix, I raised as a puppy, who is a super intelligent energetic goof ball, Panda Bear. ❤

I am so glad she was adopted and the breeder was an ethical one, her previous owners were jerks and didn’t deserve her. I have a border collie myself and although she doesn’t do shows, she’s with me til the end, mine or hers, if it’s mine, my husband or children will keep her, we love her.

I rescued a almost 10 year old corgi. She is my life and I couldn't imagine my life without her. She's 13, almost 14 and is still like a puppy most days.

Thank for this video, twice. First, for the very lovely groom you provided this beautiful dog, and second for your voiceover. I have over 20 years rescuing and rehabilitating unwanted Border Collies. My most recent rescue, Buster, was 10yo when I adopted him, and he recently passed at 14. Senior dogs are so awesome, and shouldn't be passed over. Seeing Kayla running in your yard reminded my Of Buster and brought a smile to my face. You'll have to excuse me, I have some dirt in my eye . . .

What a beautiful old lady. I just love her little tongue sticking out during the massage. I am glad Kayla found a good home. I have a senior pup myself, and the idea of giving her up after 12 1/2 years is absurd to me. She's been sick lately and it's cost me a lot of money, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Your comment about dogs not being items and not to be thrown away when no longer useful, really got to me My first dog was a Greyhound called Lady (Technically not first since my Grandma had a border terrier called Tugger) She was a Ex-racing dog. Once she was no longer able to race (For Greyhounds if not taken care of properly this can happen early) her owner kicked her out onto the streets of Manchester Where for months she had to fend for herself. Lady was a difficult dog , We could never really get her to trust anything on 4 legs except for our two cats Chippy and Angel (After Angel asserted dominance by swiping at ladies nose lol) We had to take her for walks late at night in really really out of the way areas. For all the challenges she brought we still loved her and cherished her , I was at school when she was put down, She went for a check-up at the vets since we felt like something was wrong and that same day she left this world. I never got to say goodbye to her, she was there in the morning before school and gone by the time I got back. We buried her in our Garden with all of our family pets so she will never be alone (Shes being accompanied in the afterlife , by several chickens , Hamsters , rats , dogs and cats ) I just cant for the life of me understand why people would treat there pets like this.

We adopted a 2 year old Golden Shepherd (AKA Retriever GSD Mix) in January 2021. She was sweet, perfectly trained and we were told she was abandoned in SC. She fit in perfectly with our existing GSD & Collie/Husky Mix. We loved her from the moment we adopted her. Unfortunately, five weeks later she suffered serial seizures and passed in just 18 hours. The seizures were most likely why she was abandoned. If we had known would would have put her on anti-seizure medication and she would have lived a long and happy life. Shame that some "people" have no respect for life. We miss you Koda :(

The same thing recently happened at my kennel too. One of our clients is an old wife and husband who are both deaf. They have been clients for a couple of years and their wonderful dog is named Penny, and she is 15 years old. She lived with the family since she was a puppy. However, 2 weeks ago, the old couple was put into assisted living due to their growing age, and they are being relocated to an area which doesn't allow animals. So, Penny is left under our care, away from the people who had been with her for her entire life. I find it really sad. Fortunately, we are taking great care of her and hoping to find her another family where she can live out the last of her days being loved again.

I’ve never understood committing to a pet, and then just up and deciding one day, “nah”. Now, saying that. I *did* adopt a 4 yr. old Bassett hound from a a breed specific rescue as I was under the distinct impression that he was good with with kids. I had a mellow 10 year old (no, really- artistic,sensitive, quiet, voracious reader, and she still is at 22) at the time. It became obvious in the first 3 days that we weren’t a good fit for him due to bouts of luring one of us into a state of calm only to change his mind and snap at our hand or my child’s face. We returned him to the rescue via one of their certified fosters, but I really felt like I failed him. I know he found his forever home with that foster and lived his time almost exclusively on the clean laundry pile there. But I was upset for weeks. I’ve had the privilege to know many pets in my lifetime, and I’ve never made a solid “you now live here forever, this is your permanent home, we love you” and not meant it. I can’t imagine discarding a pet because of age, new family circumstances, or age. However, I cannot say I’ve never surrendered one of mine, and it still hurts my heart and produces guilt to this day.

They had Kayla for 11 years and pretty much threw her away because she got old. You made a difficult and responsible decision out of love, when after a few days you realized he wasn’t a good fit for your home and surrendered the pup back to the rescue. Don’t compare yourself to them. ❤️

My favorite quote is “Pets Are Forever…and forever does not mean as long as it’s convenient for you.” We just adopted or 6th rescue dog Monday before Thanksgiving. He is 6 years old and had a very hard first three years. We hope we make the rest of his years the best.

Such a beautiful dog! She so tolerant for her first groom! So irresponsible for those abusers to do this to her. So glad she nice and safe now! 😁😻🐕 (Sorry guys I forgot she was a show dog so Yh she would’ve definitely been groomed constantly!😅)

To be honest if they didn’t want her they did the right thing, most people just toss them out in the street.. at least they made sure she went to a place that would help find her a good home. The pup will be happier for it in the end 🤗
