I'd say the landmine actually serves a practical use. You don't want to be falling and setting the thing off, so it gives you that extra incentive to try hard. Everyone knows people can push themselves harder when your life is on the line!
Great fun! The 'landmine' on the belt of one of the models is actually a teacup and saucer kit with a specially made holder! If you look up 'tea cup belt holder' or similar you can find other examples. I think it became popular around the time cottagcore did a few years back
You have no idea how happy I am to see my man Climbing Stuff, Pope of the Church of Dynology, the Burden of Deez Master getting love from Climbers Crag.
Noooo it makes a lot of sense So when you fall you getz your backside peppered with ceramik shards. So then you flash all your projects because you'r scared of falling. See see? :D
i cant go climb for an entire month because of a heart infection so its atleast nice to watch your vids every day :D funny and really entertaining and it makes me smile
@@jopss1039 also interesting that you play geometry dash. I too play geometry dash. Not nearly as much as I used to like a year or two ago, but you’re the first climber who is also into GD I’ve met!!!
I saw a big spool of climbing rope in the display window of Armani the other day as I was on my way to buy some climbing rope from an actual climbing store... The temptation to steal something has never been greater. THEY JUST HAD IT THERE AS DECORATION!!! WTF XD No actual climber is going to buy any of this designer crap
The image reminded me of kung fu pandas 2 where po was traveling and was looking like he was climbing rocks but then the camera rotated and he was horizontal
The "land mine" bit cracked me. as much as I appreciate the humor, I feel the need of being "that guy", since I'm both a climber and a creative director in marketing and fashion. So, here it goes: First, most of these ads aren't made towards climbers. most of them take inspiration on whatever the collection were taught on. for exemple, the brand X made a collection inspired by the outdoors, hiking and climbing, camping, etc. it doesn't mean that everyone involved in it is a connoisseur in the subject or anything. also, there's a lot o budget restriction, models' safety (they are not athletes) and so on. about the Lous Vuitton's chalk bags, they are clearly not meant to be used as chalk bags, the same way a Supreme fire axe (or whatever it's called) aren't made to chop down trees or break into apartments on fire, nor the Supreme's branded bricks were made for building a house or whatever. on a side note, Virgil Abloh was one of the most influential creative directions of our generation (he died of cancer a couple years ago). we all know how weird fashion photography can be, but I'm just saying that because some people might actually take it seriously and think these products are in fact marketed towards climbers and outdoors people etc. also, the "land mine" was a tea cup and a small plate in a case, probably some fancy tea ware for the British outdoorsy lol. anyways, I hope I'm not being a pain in the ass with my comment hahaha cheers
Inspiration should still be based on the source material, don't you think? Some of these ads could have been more effective with simple changes. Like the underclings, those could have been something else to make the picture look more realistic.
@@helentejada7660 I do agree. Most of these campaigns are awful 🤷♂️ there’s a lot to do with who’s the creative director and art director behind it and, like I said, budget and planning. I’m not saying I agree with all this, just bringing some knowledge from inside the industry
I think that LV ‘chalk bag’ is actually cool. It’s just a humorous homage to climbing from a luxury brand. Obviously it’s not going to be cheap it’s Louis Vuitton. The fact Virgil even knew about climbing is pretty cool, I wonder if he was a climber.
Pretty sure it was put on their website just for that reason, to pay homage. Which is why when he called they said they stopped producing them and didn’t have any.
That delicate chalk beg is a product for the climbers like me who do leave leave their room and look at the mountainous vistas through the laptop screen.
Sweet child, you must have forgotten that 2077 is practically swarming with Wall tanks (rock wall tanks being the fiercest among them). You dismiss the necessity of climbing with an anti tank mine without even a single bother given to the very real dangers the future climbers will face, and the measures they must take to return safely to their Wall houses and Wall families (because global warming raised the sea levels so only walls remain to inhabit... Probably)
Designers, filmmakers and painters minds work similar to neural networks when it comes to climbing: they have some images associating with the term, and just slap them together with no clue of how they actually function.
I actually do where my chalk bag over one shoulder when I'm alpine climbing. You have a rack and a backpack on there's no room for a chalk bag back there
I think that the "landmine" at 8:50 is a mug & plate, you know, for when you need to whip out your inflatable ledge on the indoor climbing wall for a spot of lunch 😅🤣
The thing you kept calling a lantern I am pretty sure that is a cup and plate holder cause you can make out what looks like a cup and plate in the white portions.
