Hi Dave, love the channel. I’m an experienced fly tyer but just getting started with realistic fly patterns. I’m struggling with legs. They won’t stay bent, even after applying heat. Should I be coating them with Dave’s Fleximent prior to tying them in? It shouldn’t be a problem but I also wonder if the problem is that I’m substituting turkey and ring neck pheasant for golden pheasant.
Thank you. 🤜 🤛 Turkey is definitely the toughest. I heat the legs after tie in, then put a micro brush dab of ultra thin flex resin at the joint. Seems to work and the legs don't get stiff.
Do you ever fish with these realistic flies? It seems the community has come together as a whole to say “kudos to the person who tied such a beautiful work of art, but they don’t catch any fish and I hate them”
@@flytyingzonedavehise well I love your videos so much I bought the materials to duplicate this pattern. It will be my first realistic fly. Can’t wait to try it.
The intricate legs you do are so hard. I’ve tried like 6 times now to little success. I’m having fun and might just have to do this one without the legs. Thanks again. You are truly a master.
