Yeah even the Walmart and Kroger cakes usually have loads of buttercream but that could be removed. These look more like a Swiss role type consistency or a devil dog type cake.
I honestly find it more impressive that you were able to utilize every bit of that cake to shape the Hungry Caterpillar with no waste leftover. I would've never thought of doing it the way you did it really neat.
Yes! We can be working mothers and give our children a memorable birthday experience. Be great to hear the other mothers ask "but how did you do all that?"
As an ex year one teacher I love it as well. I managed to find a fabric edition of it which hung on may classroom wall for the kids to retell the story as an activity. I found it in a small shop on the way for a tour of the blue mountains Australia (I'm a kiwi). I'm 45 and still love the story as a memory of childhood and when I was teaching. I've recently donated it to my best friends school.
Best dam caterpillar cake Ive seen. You would not believe the hooha over shop bought caterpillar over here in the UK. This one looks so much nicer than what they try and serve up to kids (and parents) here. Love it❤
That is so cute. I would have never thought to arrange peices of a store-bought cake like that. It’s so simple yet elegant. There must be a tutorial on this. It’s pretty easy to follow once you know what to do. But I really like “ the very hungry caterpillar” and all the stories by Eric Carlisle. Great job! 👏
_The Very Hungry Caterpillar_ by Eric Carle started as an American (US) book - but I just looked and it's been translated into 60 languages and more then 50 million copies have been printed - so at this point I think we can declare it a Worldwide classic!
I'm impressed. I never would have thought to do that. I took a cake decorating class in school, back in 1976. I learned to make a heart shaped cake from an 8 inch square on point, and an 8 inch circle cut in half, and put the half circles added to the top half of the square on the left, and right of the point. ❤ And an Easter bunny face with a bowtie from two 8 inch (or 9 inch) circles. One circle is the face, the other circle you cut the ears out near the edges of the circle, the leftover middle turned into the bowtie to go under the face. Ice the cake, then put coconut flakes all over it for the fur. 🐰I thought those two cakes were creative, and fancy... Now I've got a caterpillar to add to that. Thank you. 👵☮️🖖
I love that book. As a nanny, I'd read it to the child I was caring for. Except I injected him into the story. He loved it. I miss him and his baby sister dearly.
Bro I love woolies cake's especially their caramel one, I begged my preschool teacher to cut me that one when I was at preschool lol. Still love it to this day
I love the Hungry, Hungry Caterpillar. It’s so cool that you like him in Australia! I used to do a story time with kids and read that book out loud. I have a finger puppet that’s a butterfly. At the end of the book I use the little puppet to have the butterfly fly out. The kids love it.
