I purchased an E-M10 when it was originally released in 2014. One thing about the OM-D line, people don't realize what the camera can do until they've used one for a while. For the price, even the basic OM-D is packed with useful features. I bought mine originally because of the size and it reminded me of the Canon 35mm camera I used a long time ago. I've since added an E-M1 mark III but still use the E-M10 when I want to go really light.

Same here! I had exactly the same experience as you did. But before the em10, l had an epl5 for underwater photography. After I saw what I could do with it and how customizable that camera is, I didn't hesitate to buy the em10 when it came out.

I tried m43 with em10ii and was impressed, then purchased em5iii, which, with the original grip, offers almost everything as em1ii with some more flexibility with weight. I think only m43 users have so many opportunities with lenses. Gathering an impressive assortment of excellent lenses is still within an affordable domain. To have a comparable set of lenses FF users need to sell their houses.

@@DavidFlowerOfficial I only use a crop sensor cameras. Fuji & Panasonic. Last week went to a photography workshop taught by a Panasonic luminary. I misplaced the G9 I intended to use. As a backup I purchased an EMD1 Mii for a very good price with an additional battery. Yeah! Then I found the G9. The EMD1 Mii is very comparable to the G9 that I love. Going to a workshop next month taught by a couple that are Olympus Ambassadors. Will bring the Olympus with me. Have a mix of Olympus & Panasonic lenses. Now I need to figure out how to set the Oly up. Had an EMD-5 and loved the colors produced by that body. Expect at least the same quality of colors. Have no interest in full frame. I am an amateur and the quality of the M43 and APSC images are good enough for me. I appreciate the light weight and small size of my gear. Schlep about with the gear for hours on end and both my back plus shoulders are grateful for both the weight/size benefits. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

I have the Em1-mk1, 3 Em1- mk2s and an EM1-x. Sports action photography mostly. The mk2 is fabulous, I bought the 1X recently (was on a cracking special) for the auto focus improvements, but honestly can't tell a difference. The mk2s are our go to cameras, and I have one with a 7Artisans 25mm on it, that is my walk out the door camera, when I am doing photos for myself.

I just made the switch from Nikon; you just can't beat the small size; excellent lens and image quality. I bought the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II and lens used on Ebay. My collection of lens include the 45mm1.8, 12-40mm 2.8 Pro, 40-150mm 2.8 Pro with 1.4x teleconverter, 75mm 1.8 and the awesome 60mm 2.8 Macro lens. You are absolutely right Mega Pixels are overrated and my Nikon D700 12 Mega Pixel did just fine for event and portrait work before I upgraded to the Nikon D850. Cheers!!!

Hi David, I've used full frame, APS-C and Nikon 1 in the past. Like you, I also had a D600 that was very troublesome with oil on the sensor. Eventually that issue led me to get a D800. I sold all of my full frame gear in July 2015... then shot with Nikon 1 for four years. In June 2019 I switched to Olympus M4/3 and bought an E-M1X. Simply the best camera I've ever owned... it easily runs circles around the D800 I used to own. The computational photography technologies in the camera are simply awesome. My wife and I now own a pair of E-M1X bodies, an E-M1 Mark III, two M.Zuiko prime lenses and seven M.Zuiko zoom lenses. We couldn't be happier. I've captured hundreds of thousands of images during the past three and half years with the E-M1X and I'm still surprised with the capability of the camera. Tom

Came here from the GF2 video. These old MFTs are great. Like I said in your other video, I sold my GX85 and GX9 simply because my trusty old GF1 gets the job done. Yes, I am aware that there are waaaaay more advantages with the newer cameras, especially if you put in the price factor and IBIS for the (now cheaper) GX85 etc. But there's something about the satisfaction that you get from older cameras, and still have all the capabilities you need to 'out-perform' newer ones. I agree with you here - after my years of GAS through covid, and after I actually started to print my photos, I learned that the camera doesn't matter. I printed photos taken with an old 8MP point-n-shoot and couldn't tell the difference. The most important was that there was a photo in the first place, and of course the person who took it.

I’m a fairly simple guy in terms of what I need to make a picture and so I don’t rule out any camera. There something to be said for having all the fluff features that make things easier, but those features aren’t necessary to get great images. I recently added an Olympus Pen mini to the collection and it’s absolutely fantastic. Thanks for watching 🖖

I had a an EM-1 MkII and it's phenomenal! I used it mainly for wildlife, so I used the 40-150 2.8 and the 60 2.8 macro quite a bit (kept the glass, but had to sell the camera because of a short term financial situation). I have a G9 now, but might get another Mk II or OM-1 so I can have one for low light birding and the other for extra reach (I also have the Panasonic 100-400). You can't go wrong.

I have the EM1.2. It's especially good for procapture (buffering shots with a half pressed shutter until the "right" moment). This could include shots of birds taking flight or something you are waiting to capture in the street. Burst photos are also very good for portraits of kids or a group to get the right facial expression.

I use this camera for two years already: I bought it almost new (it had approx 50 test shots and was waiting for its time in a box) and I am still extremely happy. The sizing (and I have huge hands, never been a problem!), the look, the controls: I just love it. I am also super happy with the results. While I do have second thoughts, like "well, shouldn't I have invested in a FF, or at least the newer sensor?" I was never really regreting the decision. The camera with a kit lens or prime is a bargain and a great step into photography, which in the last two years really became my passion.

Some great shots there David. I changed from Nikon, D7200 and D 500 to an Em1 Mk iii, this was during our first spell of Covid ! Had been looking at Olympus and the Sony A7R3 but at the time the Sony was expensive ! My two Nikons and seven lens sold within two weeks and at that time people were saying Olympus was going under ! (mainly by full frame people) after doing my research eg looking up what Olympus Visionaries were shooting with the gear and how fantastic the images were I was hooked, then a couple of large Camera suppliers here in New Zealand decided to quit Olympus and sold the gear at cost prices so I jumped in. Purchased an Em1 Mk iii with the 12-40 F 2.8 Pro lens, then the 300F4 came up at cost price, the next week was the 40-150 F 2.8 Pro so had my main gera. Since purchased the 60mm Macro, 17 mm F 1.8, 30mm Macro that and the 60mm are fantastic sharp lenses. Back in March I purchased the OM-1 and what a game changer for my bird photography, the Em 1 Mk ii was great but the Om-1 is on another level ! Micro 4 thirds is not dead !! Cheers

I’ve used the olympus paired with the 17mm 1.8 for street photography and have been able to get shots I never would be able to with a full frame kit. I purchased an original E-M1 about seven years ago, and just about carried it everywhere ever since. I had literally worn the paint off every corner on the camera. About two years ago, I began to have shutter issues with it, and given that Olympus was getting rid of its imaging division around the same time, I talked myself into a new 35mm format Canon EOS R. Now, I've used both Canon and Olympus for a long time, so either brand seemed like a good deal to me, and worth the investment. Funny thing was, once the new camera novelty had worn off with the EOS R, I realized that I was really pining for my old Olympus E-M1. I could have purchased another from the used market, or picked up a newer version such as the MkII or MkIII, but one grows attached to a good camera kind of like an old friend. I took the body and sent it to the Olympus repair facility and waited. A couple hundred dollars later, and my E-M1 was back. They had done an absolutely awesome job! Not only did they replace the damaged shutter mechanism, but they replaced the strap lugs, a dial, updated the firmware, and completely cleaned everything. Superb! My well worn old friend was back but it was working like a brand new unit. Now, we get to the point. The EOS R is a very nice and very capable camera, but since getting my Olympus back, the Canon rarely leaves the house. For day to day photography, I simply enjoy using my Olympus more than the Canon. Also, except in rare circumstances where the larger sensor shines (long exposure low light photography being the main one), the images I get from the Olympus are just as good as what I'd get from the Canon. In fact, because the Olympus is so good at "getting out of the way," I think that I often get better images from the older and smaller camera. Beyond all that, I love my stable of Olympus lenses. They are smaller, lighter, and easier to carry than the full-frame alternatives. To outfit my EOS R to the same degree would necessitate spending an awful lot of money! Anyway, I love using m43rds, especially the OM-D E-M1. Honestly, it does the job, and best of all, it's fun to use.
@yukonchris
@yukonchris Год назад
Oh yes, and one more thing. The 16 MP sensor on the E-M1 provides more than enough resolution while failing to overwhelm my computer storage options. In the year or so that I was shooting almost exclusively with the EOS R, that 30MP sensor created images that have really eaten up storage. Over the long haul, fewer megapixels offer a significant savings in space. It's something that really shouldn't be discounted.

The most important thing of Olympus cameras - is fantastic color science straight out of the box. Jpegs look so natural and 3d with vibrant green trees and lovely skin colors. Other things, like bokeh and "best of the best" fullframesonycanonfujiautofocus, are not so important for producing pictures you like to see and make with great pleasure! Everyday, every bright moment, you have a perfect small camera for every perfect moments of your own life. No matter of sensor size, if the picture is great!

Great little summary, I've actually recently moved from a Canon 7D2 which was a beast in terms of AF, but to get sharper pictures I'd have to get expensive and heavy glass. After a lot of research and watching the likes of Robin Wong, I got myself an EM1 (mk1) and 75-300mm lens. In Australia they both cost me around $600, which is the same as 7D2 body only. Im super happy so far, but I'm aware of the AF limitations for moving subjects, so am thinking of upgrading to EM1 mark ii which will probably be the only camera I ever need as an amateur hiker/wildlife+landscape photographer. I also got myself an EPM2, which with 14-150mm lens still weighs 700g and is ideal for street and landscape if I'm not expecting exciting wildlife about. I can even carry both bodies and still be below 7D2 with something like 70-200mm lens. I'm not selling or printing my images, so quality is more than enough for me.

The E-M10II is actually an astonishingly capable camera. I bought a used one as my back-up camera (having a Pen F as my main camera) - and found myself using it more than the Pen F! I'm thinking of buying a second E-M10II for IR conversion (the first one was meant for that, but a second body could have a full conversion including the IR72 or IR68 filter in front of the sensor). I did look at the Sony APS-C cameras, but the lenses are bigger (and of lower quality), and I don't like Sony cameras (I do have an A7 Mk I, the IQ is just wow, everything else not). I'm very happy with all the lenses I can have for m43, and the whole system feels quite right for me. Well, my main "love" is film photography, and 4x5 with a view camera has become my preferred tool - so going really small on digital looks like a good idea … 😁

I recently bought the e-m10 mk III. I've had the e-m1 mk II and Panasonic G9 in the past but I sold them but still wanted a small m43 camera. I also think the e-m10 series are the best looking Olympus cameras. I have the Canon 5d MK II and Fuji X-T2 which give me something different but I'd say 70% of the time I use my e-m10 mk III.

I love the EM10 II I switched from a far expensive Nikon D5600 last year. It has a really nice metal build. If you are happy to manual focus there some great four thirds lenses out there that can be adapted. I like the 50mm F2 macro and 50-200 telephoto.

I stumbled upon Olympus over 12yrs ago with a DSLR and haven't looked back since! Started with E410, moved to the huge E3, and after working and making a living with the EM1 MkII for over 4 years now, I just ordered an EM1X. I've never missed a feature, I've never felt limited or not being able to deliver the images that the client or I would ever need. It's a perfectly capable system, with amazing features and abilities, amazing glass and a bright future. Cheers from Bulgaria 🤙

Nicely done. I used to keep a E-M10 II in a small hard case with a spare battery and the three Sigma art primes behind my car seat. For walk about town street photos I liked carrying the E-M10 with the Sigma 19mm or 30mm. For low light photos there is a scene mode that you might want to try out if you haven't already. I think its called hand held starlight. It will take a series of high ISO photos, align and bled them together in camera to give you a photo with less noise than if you took a single photo at the same ISO. I used to shoot events, weddings, family and senior portraits with Olympus 4/3 gear. 4/3 glass can be found inexpensive now these days. The E-M1 II will be able auto focus 4/3 glass and some of the best glass I've ever used are Olympus HG and SHG lenses. My favorite OM-D camera is the E-M5 II, for me the best ergonomics of any camera I've had. For work I currently use the E-M1 II as my A cam and the E-M10 III as my B cam. I do a mix of video and photos so the 4K video and improved IBIS on the E-M10 III made it worth the upgrade. I usually keep the 45mm F1.8 on the E-M10 III for quick photos while I'm using the 12-40mm F2.8 on the E-M1 II for video. Be sure to check the firmware on the E-M1 II when you get it. After firmware 3.0 its almost a different camera. You get a lot of focus related improvements, I think reduction of noise at higher ISOs, some video improvements and a bunch of other things. If you think IBIS is awesome on the E-M10 II just wait until you get the E-M1 II. Battery life on the E-M1 II is the best I've ever used on a mirrorless camera. I've covered 8 hour events on just two batteries without draining the second battery.

Graduated up from a Nikon D7500, too heavy for me, a Sony a7ii, still use and have sold the Sony a6000 I had. Am definitely staying with Olympus! I‘m at the age when lighter means happiness-and a less sore back and arms😅 Love the EM1iii, I feel it‘s the best of the three I have and l feel very comfortable with it. I've been shooting Micro Four Thirds since the Olympus E-PL2. Currently, I have an E-M1 Mk1 and an E-M1X, which I absolutely love. However, most recently I bought a barely used Pen-F and am having a ball with this camera -- it may very well steal my heart. The other day I loaded up a 'Fanny Pack' style camera bag with my Pen-F with the Oly 25mm f/1.8, the Olympus 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 EZ, the Pany Lumix 45-175mm f/4-5.6, and the Olympus 9mm f/8 Body Cap Fisheye lens, and four spare batteries. That gives me a 35mm equivalent focal range of 18mm to 350mm, with macro and fisheye capabilities in a kit that weighs 2.5 lbs!

One of the unsung features of all Olympus digital DSLRs and mirrorless is the SSWF sensor cleaning system - it works. In 15 years since my E-1 I have once had a dust spot - so switched camera off/on - and it was gone. Look at all the advertising for sensor cleaning kits and software to remove them! Olympus should mention that when selling because the others brands appear to be failures in this area.

Got for it. Olympus is quite amazing. You might really enjoy the M5. I use the PEN-F along size the Nikon D810. The PEN-F is used about 90% of the time. I'm shocked at how good Olympus is especially with really good glass. And the "poor" ISO performance is not a factor when you can shoot perfectly sharp images hand held at 1/4sec. It's rediculous. Love that system.

Hello, David. I did enjoy your video. I've recently come back to m43 due to aging and wanting a lighter kit. I started shooting digital with a Nikon D200 around 2009, moved up to a D7000 and shot with that for years. During this time I got an E-P1 and was quite amazed but not sold. I did get an E-M5 (mark I) and shot with that for awhile, and some other M43's like a Panaonsic GH2 and a G5. But I got seduced by Fuji after buying the origina X100. Years later I'm back to m43 and thinking if I'd never left it I'd have saved a ton of money, lol. Just an amateur myself. But I have an E-M5 Mark III, a PEN F (lovely bit of kit), and an E-M5 Mark II as a "car cam". Very happy with m43 and doubt I'll need to change again. I'm 67 and looking at retirement and buying new cameras probably won't be in the equation. Keep up the good work! It's nice to hear a sensible voice that isn't "politically" invested in one sensor or another.

I only have M4/3 kit, since being an amateur photographer I don't see the need to go full-frame with massive lenses. My collection of M4/3 cameras started with a Panasonic DMC-GF7 with two lenses, a 12-32 pancake (awesome little lens) and a 35-100 zoom. Since then I branched out to the GX and G series "prosumer" bodies, and currently use a G80 (G85 in the US) as my main camera. I also have a gaggle of quirky vintage lenses including a number of Helios 44 models and a load of other interesting glass, all as cheap as possible. Needless to say, I'm having the time of my life thanks to the inherent compact nature of all my M4/3 bodies, and I fully agree that 16 megapixels is in reality more than enough.

As someone who’s been in the game since around 2009 I can honestly say you don’t need FF for professional work though I do still prefer my FF for using with my old manual lenses (Helios 44, CZJ 50mm f2.8 and a whole bunch of others), I just prefer the look. The labels that both manufacturers and “influencers” put on cameras like “entry level” and “pro” are utterly meaningless especially when the features that make a camera “pro” might not even be relevant to your work. The M4/3 system has become my go-to and I’m way happier with it than I ever was with Sony. Thanks for watching 🖖

I have used an E-M10 II for almost five years. For that size, it's absolutely amazing! Only the TruePic VII processor was that I couldn't understand sometimes at the "color science" thing, but RAW solved those issues (almost always). Now I'm trying an E-M1 II. My copy have quite serious AF issues (compare to the E-M10 II), but the TruePic VIII engine makes much more useable jpeg-s. And, I'm absolutely like the much more speedy e-shutter too (city trams became catchable in e-mode without noticeable rolling-shutter effect - if the camera focuses well 🙁).

From Olympus I had an EM-10 MARK IV, I now use EM-5 MARK III since about two years and I don't feel the need to change for anything else. The main differences over the EM-10 are 20 megapixels instead of 16, better sensor (same as EM-1), phase detect autofocus instead of contrast and weathersealed body. A tiny bit heavier, about just as compact. EM-5 is the pocket version of EM-1. I don't know if it's the best camera, but it's the absolute best for me. The 5 axis stabilisation is a game changer, it really is, and 20 megapixels is indeed more than enough.

Just added a Panasonic GX85 for more of a hybrid photo/video camera. m43 is the perfect walking around, street or travel solution and the lens selection is great. If m43 sensor got a bit better color depth, they would almost obsolete APS-C, but side by side landscapes with my EM-10 and D7100, the Nikon images have a considerable edge in colors. And there are so many great DSLR lenses on the used market, it’s worth keeping the bigger camera around. Congrats on the EM-10, brilliant camera, and superb images.

I love my MFT gear for different reasons. I've got a Panasonic GX85 and GX8 along with an Olympus E-P5 and E-PL8 (both picked up used for a steal in good condition, I swear the E-P5 will be a cult camera sooner than later). I had an E-M1.2, but between the GX85 I got just for the lenses that were bundled and the GX8 I had everything I needed for my work, so I sold it. I also have the 15mm Summilux and 42.5mm Nocticron PanaLeica lenses and their aperture rings only work on Panasonic bodies as far as I know with my older cameras. I'm holding out until my GX85 breaks to get a GX9 or until OM hopefully maybe releases a new Pen-F with weather sealing, the new menu system of the OM1, and hopefully the new sensor as well even if itakes a few years. I had a fuji kit, the lenses are similar size or even smaller in some cases (Pana 25mm f1.7 vs Fuji 35mm f2 for example, plus the 35 is weather sealed for a good price) and I loved the colors I got without needing to really edit much. The one thing I hated so much was after autofocusing all of my lenses on my 3 Fuji cameras would tick back to wide open 1 tick at a time which each 1 showing up as a flicker. That and the entire screen/EVF flashing bright when you initiate focus gave me enough actual headaches to dump all but the X-T3 and the manual x-mount lenses I've collected over time that don't have said issues for obvious reasons. I sold off my full frame stuff, for me I saw no reason of having it at all. I do miss HiRes mode from the EM1.2 for my building shots while hiking/adventuring around, but I might end up getting an EM1.3 to get that back whenever I find a bargain used one on KEH.

I own the Olympus E-M5 III. Yes, it's plastic...but that enables a remarkably lightweight feel that is a breeze to carry around all day. M4/3 lenses tend to be smaller and lighter than APS-C or Full Frame lenses, too, so there's definitely an advantage in weight/size with the M4/3 format. As an amateur, the Olympus provides everything I want in a camera...and then some. M4/3 is definitely not dead.

Really enjoyed the video. I've got the E-M1 II myself and have been really enjoying it. It's a great camera, especially for the price if you can get it at a fair deal used. I've paired mine with the 14-150 II lens and when I need a longer lens the 75-300. Paired with these lenses AF performance is pretty good, however, not always the best (especially low-light). I would say hit rate during the day is fantastic and focus is great (even on low burst), hit rate in low light drops to about 70% I would say, though focus is still pretty quick and it regains accurate focus quickly after losing it. I'd recommend the David Thorpe (rest in peace, Micro Four Thirds hero) reviews and Micro Four Nerds channel in general for good content and tips. For better focus I recommend Olympus PRO lenses or primes in general, they focus quicker and Olympus' own line-up is weather-sealed like the body from the 14-150 II (kit lens) and up (PRO). As a travel camera and do-it-all I really love it and it's a lot easier to carry around compared to even most aps-c bodies. Usually, I don't even think about not taking it with me because I just clip it to my backpack (Capture Clip from Peak is great) and don't even feel it being there (granted, with the bigger lenses like the 75-300 or most PRO lenses you will feel the weight). In general, I love the feature set, 4K video (beware of focus breathing while shooting on C-AF), massive burst rates, good quality RAW files, high-res shot (though not without tripod) and I've been pleasantly surprised by the battery life too. Overall, I would say get it if you can. The mk3 would also be great, it's supposed to have even better AF performance and the handheld high-res mode. It usually goes for around double, though... PS: that display on the M10 should be a pretty simple fix, it's likely only the display cable which are a small ribbon, attached (generally) by ZIF connectors on either side of the cable, only thing is: basically full disassembly is required to do so (for 57 quid and a cable I would probably do it though).

If I was operating on a budget perspective, the Mkii makes financial sense, as the additional bells and whistles on the mkiii don't justify the upgrade unless you specialize. I've a few primes and bigger zooms, but would recommend the 12-40 f2.8 as a catch-all lens. It spends most time on my camera. I moved from Canon SLRs, purely on weight relief for my aching bones!

I have been using both m43 and full frame for many years. Size, weight and lots of good optics are the main winning points. Tools like DXO PureRAW have made me less concerned about iso performance. I liked the small Olympus E-PM2 very much, but I have now now replaced it with the Panasonic GX9 and also added a Panasonic G9. Panasonic 9mm, Panasonic Leica 12-60mm and Panasonic 35-100mm f2.8 is a stunning set of lenses to cover a wide range of focal lengths. I would be curious to try the OM-1 and the 12-100mm f4. For the future I hope both Panasonic and OM systems keep developing the flagship bodies not only for video but also for stills photography. A Panasonic G9 mark II or an OM systems OM-1 mark II with a 24 or 32 megapixel sensor with one stop better dynamic range and high iso performance would breathe life into the system. If they can work on better compatibility between Panasonic and OM systems regarding dual IS that would be very welcome too.

I started with the m1 mark ii. Wish I started there, instead of 5 other cameras 😅 now ruling with the om-1 😊 the reason for the upgrade, was the subject recognition and the starry sky. I love astrophotography, so starry sky really helps 😊 oly 100-400mm for my wildlife photography and 12mm f2 for astro 😊 om-5 is maybe more you. Smaller but still mighty 😊

I actually prefer the body style of the em5, but I think the extra card slot (to shoot redundancy if I ever decide to use it for more serious work instead of my ff) and the better battery life will be worth getting the em1 mkii for. I’m keeping the em10 because it’s a whole lot of fun so if I want smaller and cooler looking I’d use that instead. Thanks for watching🖖

M43 in general terms is an enabler for me, I leave less of it at home due to bulk. The lenses are, for the most part, within reach financially - unlike many FF equivalents. I have an M1 mk2 and have wanted for nothing. Occasionally, Topaz De-noise might be used to clean an image up. The system offers some truly useful and system-unique features.

At low ISO you can stay at 200, it's the native ISO for those sensors. 100 or lower it's extended. Great video!

EM10 Mark ii is a gorgeous camera. Tiny. My screen on mine did that. I got it repaired under warranty.

I've em5-ii for street photografy and i use lumix 12 - 60 mm f3.5-5.6. That is excelent combo. Lumix 12-60 is light (210g) and weather resistent as em5-ii. For treking I use em1-iii with zuiko 12-100f4 and you can do all because it is a macro lense too, it has 45cm of mínimal focus distance. But best thing of olympus, and any youtuber speaks, is the SAT (Technical service assistance).

Welcome to the dark side. I first got into MFT in 2009 with the GH1. My work eventually required me to go fully into Canon with the 1Dx. Now I am back to video and I went back to MFT with the G9. Still had my old lenses, but bought the Lumix 12-35 and 35-100 f2.8s, The Olympus 60 macro, Leica 12 1.4 and 42.5 Nocticron. A few days ago I ordered the GH5 M2 and the G100 and three more lenses. (Oly 17 1.8, Lumix 30 macro, and the GH5 M2 came with a free 25 1.7 promo deal. I just came back from a photo trip. Was able to take G9, zooms, macro, Oly 8mm f1.8 fisheye, and the Oly 100-400 and teleconverters, and it all fit easily into a backpack. With the Canon it would have been three lenses max, would have weighed a ton, and I wouldn't have such a versatile choice of lenses. I also have some Sony gear, but hardly ever use it. Great cameras but lenses are heavier, and the more expensive lenses means I have less choices in my bag. There are plenty of reasons why MFT is definitely not dead, and there are plenty of us buying new cameras and lenses because we like the format and what it can do for us.

Let me tell you how I got into Olympus. I bought an Olympus E-420 in 2008 purely because I found a fantastic deal for a refurbished one with two kit lenses. Then after a while, I thought an APS-C camera might give me a better image and I sold ally gear and switched to a Pentax K-50. Guess what. I realized that the size matters the most and I don't use the Pentax as much as used to use Olympus. Although the Pentax was an amazing camera. Besides, my images were not better than when I had the little Olympus. After that experience, I sold the Pentax and got an E-M 10, then E-M 10 mark ii, then after a while E-M 10 mark iv, and after that I switched to E-M 5 mark iii mainly because of weather sealing and phase detect auto focus. I believe E-M 5 series are absolutely fantastic cameras. Image quality is definitely more than enough. Although a full frame might be better, but there is no other camera that offers so much for the same price and size. Broad range of lenses, fantastic images stabilizer, great weather sealed body, tiny size, and so many computational photography options that I'm shocked to see that no other manufacturer has implement yet after they have been introduced in Olympus cameras for a decade. I absolutely enjoy my camera and hope to see many many more OM System cameras around.

Hi David, I started with Canon APS-C with a camera bought off my brother in law. Eventually I too bought an Olympus EM10, my comparison was against a Canon 7D mk2. The lack of anti-aliasing filter really made the Olympus outshine the Canon. Also I couldn't get image stabilised primes for shooting indoor flower shows, where you get a deadly combination of tables being knocked so subject shake and low light. I traded in my Canon 7d mk2 for a less than 1,000 shutter count EM1 mk2 and also bought the Olympus 25mm f1.8 with the change. The photo improvement has been remarked upon by the members of the National Flower society for whom I'm the webmaster. That's down to the IBIS. The great thing with Micro Four Thirds is that the lens mount has been stable since 2008, so there are lots of great secondhand lenses about. Enjoy your EM1 mk2 when you get it, as it's a brilliant all round camera and don't be surprised if it becomes your go to for most of your photography.

I already use my full frame gear way less than I used to and the em10 mkii has been my first choice for street shooting over the last month or so. I love the fact that despite its size, it doesn’t feel cheap and flimsy. Thanks for watching 🖖

@@DavidFlowerOfficial Hi David, before you spend your money on an EM1 MK2 you might like to feel the weight and size of it. Just nip to your local camera shop and handle an EM1 MK3 or an OM1. Then pick up an OM5. Also take a look at this you tube video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Hh6hAkYHJQQ.html If the small size of MFT is what really appeals to you, there might be some thinking to do. I own both the EM1 MK2 and EM5 MK3 they're quite different in their handling the EM5 being closer to the EM10 than the EM1. Malcolm

An old friend of mine got himself a lumix G3 and I was so impressed with the results that I bought a mk1 em10. I now have an em10 mk3s and an em1 mk1, and I'm delighted with both of them. If you're in the market for a new 'kit lens' I can recommend the lumix 14-45, which is tack sharp and has a metal mount 🙂

Yeah when I said it doesn’t have it, I should have said it doesn’t have it in a really useable sense. Having to assign it to a specific button to get it to work besides just pressing the af button, whether that’s back button or on the shutter release is a bit cumbersome to say the least.
