With that awesome equipment he better be able to dock the vessel first time in calm waters. Countless times I "walked" my vessel into dock using only twin screws in calm waters.
Back in the day we made "twists" with our two propellers and one rudder *and NO bow thrusters* This was on diesel submarines. Oh, did I mention we had some pretty stiff currents in the Thames River in Connecticut!
Idk I’m 25 and lit, still intelligent but I don’t know what made me come out my way to search who drives large sailor ships? Because I don’t think this is still giving me enough ideas
“ Like a Swiss Watch”....Actually after the US Congress passed strict timetable laws for the US Railroad industry at around the beginning of the 20th century , that lead to American watch makers to design a more accurate watch, which lead to the most accurate watches being made were American. I know it’s not but the saying should be, “Like an American Watch”
Where i live there is a 45 minute ferry route WORKS 24/7, im not kidding, travel time:45mins, and there is no schedual at boarding, its so crowded that there is 4 ferries on the route and the ferries dont wait for scheduales, when they fill up with cars and people, they go. On the arrival the captain starts lowering the ramp about a 100m before the dock, and they stop with the 30cm thick ropes, not with engines, to insure a lower stopping distancnce. They trully make an 80m ferry look like a dinghy while docking., search ferry HRVAT/BIOKOVO/MARJAN/JURAJ DALMATINAC (pick one not all) arrival on yt, thats the 4
The real situation on that ship is, The captain make the left engine proppeller reverse and turn hard to port and right engine proppeller go to Forward and the bowthrust to the left, and when the ship approaching to the port the captain change the rudder angle to Hard to starboard .
