I want to apologize for the previously misleading thumbnail I had on this video. I have changed it to the thumbnail you see now. I usually make my thumbnails including text that briefly describes what happens in the series or what I theorize happened. I used "The CARTOON That KILLS PEOPLE" because of the implication she helped Jonah do something to the abusive adult in his life. BUT there is actually NO evidence of any killing being done. I admit I knew it was misleading. But I didn't think it was a problem because people seemed to enjoy that they were walking into a horror video and ended instead with a more joyful story. Like I said I fully realize now, this was wrong and I will make sure it doesn't happen again with future videos I create. If you know me and my content, my intention is to never hurt the series I cover. And thats something I def dont want to do to Angel Hare.
I THINK I GET IT NOW. It's like a symbol of how kids sometimes use tv shows to help them cope with whatever their going through, like it's their guardian angels.
And it's kind of even somewhat worse now with some parents using RU-vid kids shows that are somewhat similar to Angel Gabby to "distract" their kids. (Which may be the kids Gabby is currently looking after) Basically use them as free nannies in a way. Although this person had an abusive father, we also don't hear much about his mother. He even mentioned how he was apparently alone a lot as a kid.
I had an abusive father growing up. Every day I would have juuuuuuust enough time to watch an episode of DBZ while cleaning dishes cause if I didn't than I was going to get hit with said dishes. I remember DBZ teaching me that being kind isn't a weakness, forgiving your enemies can forge the best friendships, and that hard work, training, dedication, and perseverance can help you weather any storm or even win most battles. They helped me form a strong foundation to build myself on. I also grew up in a loosely Baptist household so I learned a lot of things from the Bible that helped me really discern right from wrong. Mom worked 2nd or 3rd shift all her life while my step-dad was on first. He'd head out for work at 7am, get home at 5pm. Mom would leave at 3pm and get home at 1am. So having the abusive parent as the one that was predominantly home wasn't... great. Later on I also ended up watching shows like Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop and things like that. I always seemed to key into the heart of the story and the cores of its characters. Not having a Dad I wanted to grow up to be like I looked to these males in animated shows. Seen the aspects that made them great, seen their flaws, and sought to forge myself into some amalgamation of them and my faith. I like to think I turned out okay. Still hope to be a real Dad to my own kids someday. (Side note: My step-dad has had his own little redemption arch over the years after my mom passed when I was 10 and the state made me go live with her parents. Something I didn't want to do because I wanted to stay and protect my sister (his daughter) from him. We're fine now and I even call him Dad but I know not everyone gets that sort of happy ending. He recognizes the wicked man he used to be, realizes his excuses were just that, and works every day to be a better person than he was and is proud of who I've become in spite of it all.)
@user-zp3cj6gj6t "Limbo. Lust. All gone… With Gluttony soon to follow. Your kind know nothing but hunger, purged all life on the upper layers, and yet they remain unsatiated… As do you. You’ve taken everything from me, machine. And now all that remains is PERFECT HATRED."
In the Easter tape, gabby says something about someone dying for Jonah, she’s referring to Jesus and how he died for our sins, seeing as this is a religious show. Easter, in Christian culture, is about how Jesus rose from the dead after dying for our sins. That’s why they say “he is risen”! Also, the snake symbol on the first egg means “the cycle of rebirth and death”, calling back to the death and resurrection of Jesus. Hope this helps!
Huh, I thought the eggs were all satanic stuff that foreshadowed the side character to now be corrupted by the abusive person's spirit. The whole time, I was waiting for him to pull a twist villain thing.
Oh yeah,i remember reading this comment before i got to the easter tape, and i saw the ouroboros and infinity symbol and finally understood what you meant, and it makes sense
Honestly, if the ending is that Jonah works with Gabby to help children all over the world, that would be such a great and wholesome ending. This isn't horror, this is wholesome.
It's definitely a very refreshing take! I loved that it ended on a positive note in possibly helping out more children dealing with a troubled home life.
like the reply above mines, this was such a refreshing take ngl. i barely see any of these types of thing to be wholesome, so for it to not have any horror really made me shocked 😭
@@kamwahh I'd say there was a little bit of a horror element here. The twist & shock to that horror is that it ISN'T the supernatural entity talking through Gabby that we automatically assume it is, and are suspicious of. But rather the real life horror going on in the background of Jonah's life at home. And that underlining tension that was going on at the time. Though I still wonder what happened to the step, dad, or boyfriend after Jonah left the house. Or did Gabby do something to him sometime after Jonah left the house 🤔. It really is a shock to me the entity in this case was truly benevolent. And now she has the opportunity to reach out and help other children in need of her help & protection 😊❤.
Zag originating from a detective cartoon makes SO MUCH SENSE, especially when it came to him seeming disinterested in following the script in Angel Hare. He's not there to play the part he's there to do his job
As soon as she mentioned the chair thing, hiding, and the breathing I immediately felt like she was actually trying to protect Johna from an abusive father. I wish I had an Angel Gabby to teach me these coping skills when I was dealing with my dad.
I don't know, I found this series to be quite wholesome. Maybe that's the "brainwash"? I honestly think we all need a person like Angel Gabby in our lives😊
I like how everyone goes into the show expecting Gabby to be evil but she's just a sweet angel bunny....... that may have possibly killed someone... but they were an abuser so it's all good lol
No, it was Jonah who killed his father because he was an abuser. Gabby explains Jonah how to come up with alibi, how to hide, how to disassemble weapon. While it sounds like she had bad jntentiions, I assume she only wanted Jonah to be saved from his father, which could not be achieved by other means.Although I am not sure he actually did that, because the series do not reveal all the cards.
@@rustywilliams2497 I think it's the other way around, actually, because if you remember, she says "you need to only have truth to tell", meaning she wants him out of the house when the father dies [if that's what happened] so that he doesn't have to lie about not knowing what happened or how the dad died or anything, it's not just about having an alibi but not needing to lie to form that alibi, so it seems far more likely that Gabby did the actual deed, especially since it's implied she might have caused the flood that destroyed the records too, so it's not out of her, like, ability to do so, clearly.
I think the implication of "we've adapted before" added to her helping all those kids is that she and Zag are in fact angels using TV to reach out to kids and helping them.
Also when she says that, her form changes to one that looks like a rabbit from Max and Ruby, which implies she's been in that show specifically Edit: ok I looked up the show again and its just vaguely similar, in my mind I thought it was exactly the same but its just a different artstyle, false alarm
the way jonah interacts with gabby is really interesting. on the stream where he was talking to her for a really long time, he was drawing pictures of her, even drawing himself and gabby holding hands. this series doesn’t feel like a disturbing analog horror, but a really comforting one. I’ve never seen people before play around with the idea of comfort characters and characters on tv shows being a “guardian angel” of sorts for the troubled kids who watch their shows. it’s a really nice idea. I think this series really cleverly and sweetly subverts the “sentient thing in tv bad” I see in a lot of analog horrors.
I defenitly was thinking of the same thing. it seemed like a tv show to show kids how to cope. I wish i had this when i was a kid, it seems very helpful. I think a lot of traumatized kids reach out to things they see as comfort. His relationship with the bunny, at first made me creeped out. Then i kinda realized that i had that same relationship with Fancy nancy and Tiana (still kinda do). It just makes me feel sad for him, but also its sorta good. because that is what the show was intending to do. and it probably helped a bunch of people. 🤗 He does have to move away from her, sadly. It happens a lot, its like an escape from reality from much. It kinda reminds me of when my book was taken away, i cried till i couldn't breath (i was a kid, so my actions were more severe but you get it.) This is more angel themed stuff, but the relationship seems more like he suffered some type of abuse, and the tv show was a way out, and now he cant stop.
@@RAMTapp I'm kind of a person who wonders out of this reality into my own world randomly all the time. A book - is the perfect reality (for me) where you follow the main character of the story and you unravel mysteries together, escape dangers, go through obstacles...Book lovers will understand *i'm literally crying rn*
It’s actually not dark or messed up as I saw him say at the beginning. Gabby was clearly helping Jonah in a situation where there was an abusive adult. Sure some people may say the way it was gone about is def messed up, but if anyone has ever been through that situation, they know just how overwhelming it feels to be in that predicament.
When we are kids we usually look to our parents for help with life, but sometimes parents are busy so we also look to heroes in our favorite cartoons. Optimus Prime from the 90s shows was always a character kids looked up to for guidance, and life lessons so much so that he became a father figure for lots of kids. The message that this series is trying to tell is that cartoon heroes are just as important to children’s lives as parents, because they are always there to help the kids grow by teaching the lessons, and showing them that even in their darkest hour there is always hope. The angel teaches kids lessons, and the detective shows kids that evil never wins when there is good willing to stand against it. A great lesson for a great series.
Im only 8 minutes in but as someone who grew up in an abusive household, the things angel Gabriel is saying are definitely helping Jonah with a similar situation. The reason he doesn't remember much of his childhood is probably also because it's traumatic and his brain blocked it off to protect him. "The sun is warm sometimes, Jonah, but you shouldn't forget the moments when it burns you." Most abusive households will have moments of comfort. Your parents will sometimes be nice. Will pretend to care. Will hold you in their arms. But it's all a lie, and soon they will start being shit to you again.
Also 8 minutes in and so far it just reminds me of how my friend describes her childhood. She was raised in a weird closed-off church community, homeschooled by protestants ... I'm curious to see how far off the mark I am 😂
@@ElionReese everything up until tape six made me wanna cry, because it reminds me of how my online best friend definitely needed someone like Gabby when they were younger :')
I found it rather wholesome as well, BUT I’m not sure how I feel about Jonah’s dependence on Gabby being SO strong that it was more important than solving his past trauma so he could finally TRULY move beyond it.
I think that was the point of the series so far. The first season ended with Jonah reuniting with Gabby and getting really attached, and all of Season 2 was for Jonah to realize that he’s been relying on her too much. Which is why by Season 2’s end, he wanted to forget everything so he doesn’t have to rely on her anymore. BUT, because this series is smart like that, Gabby refuses and instead, everyone teams up so that they can provide that sense of guardianship for kids on the internet that Jonah had. The lesson isn’t “Stop relying on the people you love”, but it’s “No one is perfect and everyone needs help now and then, so rely on others as they rely on you.”
I mean... he kida already had moved past it. He grew up. He forgot. His "clinging" isn't necessarily dependece. It's shame. "How could i forget such an important person in my life?" Imagine the *most important person in your life* . Now Imagine you just... *forgot* about them.
@@KevinTarkaforgetting trauma isn’t moving past it, it’s actually the opposite. healing from trauma is being able to think about the terrible things that you experienced and have it not hurt you anymore. blocking it out just makes when you remember it hurt even more, i’ve done both and have experienced DV like Jonah in this series, and i sometimes randomly remember what i experienced and it feels like it happens all over again. i’m a lot better now and i’m sure jonah did better than i since he had a guiding force while he was experiencing it which i can only wish everyone in that situation had
Well she was basically a second mother to him as well as a teacher and friend someone who made him feel physically and emotionally safe in a way no one else could he forgot her and when he found the tapes again all that emotion flooding back and guilt of forgetting. The series does well to show him become more selfless as it goes on forgoing the reason he sought her out (for the answers of what happened) and instead wanting to reconnect with her and finally being there for her the was she was for him so she can do for millions what she did for him when he needed it most.
Angel Hare Gabby is certainly a very wholesome analog horror series. I’m glad something like this exists. Shows us that analog horror can continue to surpass expectations.
The idea of a "cursed", obscure, Christian Cartoon that becomes possessed by a guardian angel and helps a child through his abusive childhood is right up my alley and is incredibly original, and is different from the average, cheap, lazy shock content that a lot of analog horrors have become nowadays. Exploring the very real phenomenon of people with abusive childhoods repressing their early memories is such a poignant concept that not a lot of people have made use of. Great series, absolutely not what I was expecting for it to be. The ending was very wholesome. Did not expect that. I may or may not have shed a little tear.
@@Derpylel I'm Christian as well. TBH it does. It's pretty heartwarming, and I wouldn't expect a series like this to have such a strong Christian message.
@@Derpylel It'd be more real if it was as it God was talking to him, that is completely possible. God often uses many different types of media to talk to me like music, the perfect song will come on at the perfect time.
What I find interested is that gaby doesn't seem to know what happened to the abusing dad only after it seems that Jonna just took things into his own hands
The part where he contacted her and the animation became super smooth sent chills up my spine. That was a super beautiful and effective moment, props to the creator(s).
Also, what the creators did that was SO awesome was that livestream in the episodes was ACTUALLY livestream’d. Fantastically creative, and they really had to have their shit together to make that seem live.
I searched up their channel on Twitch and idk if I typed it in wrong but I can't seem to find it. I might have to check the rest of the videos on their YT channel though in case they deleted it for some reason.
i think that may ruin what made the series work. the wholesomeness was unexpected. it was creative because it doesnt happen very often. mass producing it would make it just as soulless as its predecessor
The saddest part of this series is the beginning. The young jonah was going through an abusive situation and gabby was there to help him through it. Wven planning a last resort plan and planning the alibi for said plan. Hide the gun so his mom and him are safe, if the father tried to hurt him or kill him hed have gabby kill the father, then hed go it his friends house as an alibi. Then she destroyed all the evidence if he actually shot his father ehich seems to be the case. She also has the ability to block out memories to help protect the innocent.
Gabby is the first "inside the television" character I know that is actually a good person. I think an interesting way to continue the series (and ramp up the horror elements) are through introducing comickpro's skitzo the 1920's killer bear. According to comickpro, skitzo was an old 1920's haunted cartoon series starting the infamous skitzo. At first, the cartoons were normal but by the end, they became demented, twisted and gory. Whoever watched these cartoons would go mad and start harming themselves and others. As a result all copies of his classic cartoons were collected and burned, erasing his history forever and sending Skitzo back to Hell where he now wanders. Skitzo delights in the taboos and perverse elements of humanity and his sadistic and masochistic antics have made him notorious in Hell where he is known as "The Eye of the Pervert". He just needs a little tinkering to make him work. Heck, he could be the reason Jonah's father was so cruel.
Frankly I relate to Jonah a lot, when I was little I had an imaginary friend who'd help me stay safe from my mom and he'd help me think of alibis and stuff and made me feel not lonely. Although I now realize that it was just my mind helping me, I owe it all to him.
I just wanted to take the time to say I’m so sorry that your mom was toxic to your growth and that she was your first enemy in your life when she should’ve been your first and biggest supporter. Praying for your healing, and I’m glad that you found healthy ways to cope.
Zaggy/zag angel name as gabby called him is Zagzagel who is also the angel of knowledge which explains that he takes logical approaches to things and also why his main cartoon base is a detective
It’s nice to find an analogue series with a wholesome message, and a sort of good ending. Another “Easter egg” and nice touch is zagzagel is an angel that taught Moses from the Old Testament and that reflects in his more stern no nonsense attitude, while Gabriel was the messenger to Mary and thus is more kinder. The protagonist becoming the show runner for the reboot to help a new generation of kids was just beautiful
Meaningful that Francis is a Saint, too. The angels speak to the holiest among humankind, and the Saints are the holiest of all. Oh, and St. Francis is the patron saint of animals. Hmm...
This is the first video i ever watched on your channel. I have now been subscribed and watch your videos at least once or twice a week. I watch every new video that comes out and your videos have been an escape for me. When i watch your videos it’s like nothing else matters. I can just relax and enjoy your content. Thank you so much for all you do❤
Wait, you auditioned to be her in the past? Damn, I never knew that! Now I'm eager to know what the series would've been like if YOU voiced Gabby instead. Maybe some pre-released or newly recorded audio to scratch that itch. I dunno. Either way, I'm glad that even if you didn't get the role, least you tried and had fun with it.
@@x.Jelly.x Let me dumb it down in the most basic way possible. I wish there was an alternate version where this woman voiced Gabby instead of the current VA. I'm proud of her trying to get the role in the past, and even if she didn't get it, least she had fun. Is that any better?
One thing i found interesting while watching was when Gabby was changing the script, Johna didn't mind it. But when Zaggy did, John did mind it. Idk I just think it's kinda funny that she gets to be an exception.
Dunno why, but I've always thought that the mom was complicit in Jonah's abuse in a way. Enabler at best, negligent at worse. Feel free to debate me on this When she said he got his scars from horseplay, she didn't say it was an accident. Almost as if she's trying to excuse her husband's behaviour by pinning the blame on Jonah. Though it could be argued that she's trying to suppress his memories. While Jonah's father left a gun unattended with a kid for god knows how long, his mother is also complicit as she also wasn't there to supervise him, effectively leaving her son at home alone with a violent abuser. Heck, she put more effort in trying to figure out Gabby than saving herself and her son from an abusive spouse. Despite Gabby's alibi, she knows that her son was somehow involved in her husband's disappearance, hence the tapes on child aggression. It's almost like she didn't want Jonah to overcome her abuser, something that she couldn't do herself. She was afraid that Jonah might do the same to her next for her inaction towards her husband's actions, that's why she was so obsessed over violence in children.
She stright-up gaslit Jonah about his scars. "Every child has scars" Ya, sure lady. I honestly don't have many kind things to say about Jonah's mom. She spent an entire episode trying to figure out why, oh why, Jonah could possibly act aggressively towards his father. "Every child has scars." Really? F**king, really? If there's ever a Season 3, I hope it's about Jonah's mom finding out about her son's new Angel Hare stream, her angerly confronting him, and Jonah (rightly) b**ching her out about how she failed to protect him as a parent. Again, I have no kind things to say about Jonah's mom. She failed him. And she wants to be angry at the only person who protected him.
@@KevinTarka I honestly want him to dni his mom..leave and not contact her ever. She's bad for him and would rather he hurt so she can achieve some fantasy (maybe loving her husband and not wanting to ruin what they have by telling him to stop abusing their son)..whatever it is she's selfish and doesn't deserve to be called "mother". He should call her by her name.
The mother having materials about dealing with an angry (violent?) child makes me wonder if it wasn't an abusive father, but rather Jonah had a violent sibling.
Oh my! This is a brilliant take. Like maybe Jonah was getting attacked by said sibling. It would honestly make more sense. The line of “Not in your toy chest, that could be incriminating.” Could this violent sibling go “missing” so Jonah needed an alibi? Or maybe it was thought Jonah was the violent one, when it was actually the sibling - maybe (s)he was very good at hiding their real persona? Like a Ted Bundy type in the making? Maybe I’m grasping at straws here.
That would be an interesting twist! Though I think the mother’s worries about the tv turning her child violent was more because deep down she always knew that Jonah was responsible for what happened even though he was a child and even though they couldn’t prove it, and because he’s always watching tv she worried that he had gotten the idea from the tv. (Which he did in a sense)
She was also probably terrified that somehow, some way, Jonah might turn into the same kind of man his father was, because of the violent influences in his life :,(
That is an interesting theory, but I'm personally sticking with the theory that it was a father figure (bio dad or step dad). My reasoning being that I think the tapes are from after the event, because a lot of the tapes also talk about how tv can influence children, and we know the Angel Hare tapes were recorded. I think the mom saw one of the recordings where Angel Hare seemed to talk directly to Jonah, and something incriminating was said, and that led the mom to worry that Jonah was the murderer. So she got all those children behaviorial tapes to try and figure out what was going on with him
Every musical choice coupled with his terrified texts that he writes while investigating implies this should be horrific, but it seems to end on a wholesome note. Wholesome, but fantastic. Wholesome, fantastic, and Angel Gabby keeps playing up Jonah as a very special child of god. Inflating his confidence and sense of self-worth, just like alcohol can give you way too much confidence. Jonah begins this entire series as an unreliable narrator, saying that he doesn't remember any of this exactly. He's struggling to be truthful with himself in the first place. He's uncovering something that is frightening him. The dangerous individual in this scenario is a child according to the videos. Jonah is the child. No one else has been introduced, the only other character you can infer is a father since it takes two to tango in the first place and we are only introduced to his mother. Violent child, missing father. Those are the facts. No matter what fantasy we're looking at, it might all be made up and in his head.
I showed Angel Hare to my friend who went through something similar to Jonah. She finished it in a day and cited she wished she had an Angel Gabby in her life when she needed one.
We all wish we could have had an Angel Gabby in our lives Sadly, the past cannot be changed but we can change the future for the better So it is our turn to be an Angel Gabby in someone's life That of our friends, children, whatever person out there might need your guidance, be there for them I had my parents to guide me through my life, now i can only hope i am capable to help someone else too Try to help the people who need you, be Angel Gabby yourselves
The "biblically accurate angels" you see are just artist depictions of heavenly creatures described in the bible, and not only don't apply to all angels, but actually, most things explicitly called angels are described as having human-like form.
@@MemesMcDreams Pretty much. Basically the ones that look abstract and terrifying are the angel choirs of the first sphere - Ophanim(wheels within wheels covered in eyes), Cherubim(four-faced and four-winged Angels) and Seraphim(six-winged angels that cover their body and face with 2 wings each), while the second and third sphere are more human-like, sometimes depicted with wings, sometimes without(my guess is they just use shapeshifting/illusion to hide their wings when being incognito posing as humans)
@@Kubapajonczek FINALLY PEOPLE WHO UNDERSTAND. the angels with halos and wings and are humanoid coexist with the "bibically accurate angels" despite both being bibically accurate
The voice acting is great in this series, but can we please acknowledge that Angel Gabby’s voice is such an amazing, soothing, and reassuring presence? Kudos to all the talent.
personally as a person born into a christian family this is so comforting and nostalgic for me, conclusion seems really solid too and it would be so fun to see more of gabs, vaggy, francis and jonah together. the story is so sweet and a breath of fresh air from the usual structure of other creepy stories we get of VHS. I do hope one day we get a DVD horror but that's just me who grew up on then lol.
I fully belive that Angel Gabriel is trying to *help* Jonah from “HIM” edit: a little later I noticed Gabriel was looking to the side when talking to Jonah in some episodes, either making an illusion for his mother that this was a normal kids show like hallucination or watching for “HIM” edit 2: again I noticed at 51:07 in the 2nd tape or sometime there we hid something behind books… possibly this because gabby knew about Zag and knew that he would be some sort of a help, but then agian this is a bit of a stretch.
1:00:03 I find it interesting that zag said "you want a guy on the outside 'again', meaning that there was someone like Johan before, maybe someone who was apart of wreath.
Maybe when the show was airing they tried to communicate with somebody other then Jonah? That person could have potentially been evil and hurt Gabby and Zag so now they aren't as trusting
Now i suddenly wish that Angel Hare was real. Or we had someone like that. It's so wholesome and i like this. It's a unique analog horror and I was glad to watch it!
Technically in a way we do, the way I interrupt this is every show we've watched that's helped us through a tough time or helped us cope/understand the things we go through as kids or adults IS gabby/zags. These "Angels" use animated media to help people, and that's exactly what lots of shows do today, for me these were probably shows like gravity falls and such, but for many (especially in the Disney genre) it was probably movies like The Hunchback of NotreDame, or even newer movies like Encanto or Luca. There are probably better examples, but I feel this is what this analogue series was trying to get across.
I love how Zag comes off as evil at first but turns out to to just basically be a 40s detective who's absolutely had it with whatever is going on lmao. Also the letters to Gabby bonus videos are fantastic and helps give Francis a little more character than just a guy who's awful at painting eggs 😂. Fun fact the first symbol he paints is an ouroburous which represents the endless cycle of rebirth surrounding an infinity sign, which uh, make of that what you will lol
It probably just represents how Gabby is "reborn" into new media to help other kids. Gabby will go on long after Jonah is gone and long after our forms of media are also gone.
@@MikeHunt-zy3cn yeah I definitely agree, I also think based on Gabby saying they've had to adapt before they probably started out trying to help kids through written stories, then film, vhs, and finally to the internet where these guardian angels seem a little overwhelmed at first but with Jonah's help they seem confident it's just something new they'll have to learn. It's like genuinely a really sweet story, analog horror vibes at the start and a Pixar ending that had me in absolute tears lmao 💙
Like at first zag seems evil and like he’s neglecting the show and its message but then you see where he is from and it clicks that he was not made for that show and was focused on gabby and you’re like “ooooh that makes sense.”
STOP!!!! When he actually streamed it...and she saw him....UGH ITS SO WHOLESOME...SHE IS SO SWEET. I cant believe that she actually said something to him.... this is crazy
honestly.. I think this is really really emotional the fact that he dared to WAIT he had HOPE he kept he's promise like she did... and this is really kind and emotional....Loved this video.
"Fear shouldn't control you, Francis." Jonah was scared of going to Nazareth and saving the people, so an Angel came to him and comforted him. Jonah had erstwhile been swallowed by a large fish after he had thrown himself over board of a ship that was sailing him away from his assignment. The men on the ship were scared of being overturned and thrown over by the massive storm so Jonah threw himself over, believing that if he got rid of himself, then the shipmen will be safe. He didn't think they deserved to suffer for his own mistakes of disobedience. After praying for days (months?), he was vomited up and the he eventually did it and saved the people, the people turning to good and God. DISCLAIMER: I'm not really religious, but I've read the Bible many times due to my adoptive family being very religious in my younger childhood. The memories are engrained.
31:31 I love how Francis draws the symbol of ouroboros, a metaphor for the never ending, ans ouroboros is a snake that eats its own tail. I feel he was trying to get something out with this, that the cycle of trauma would never end, or never an end to the show.
the way Francis started to say how Zag and Gabby knew each other sounded like he was going to say that they were dating. and the way Zag was so concerned about gabby also gave that impression.
The oroboros isn't demonic though. It represents infinity, but I guess snakes are unholy. Kind of interesting that the symbols are infinity, a dead rabbit (on a RED egg), and then a halo rising from bones. Seems like it's trying to talk about the crucifixion and resurrection story in the most cryptic way possible.
I feel like Breath Of Life is literally just the big G himself. The creator of this "angel hare", the creator of Gabriel. No actual info on WoL actually exists, after all. And the "breath of life" could be chalked up to a specific source.
@@EggyEggtoast If it means that, then why in the very end of the last episode, can we see "Wreath of life" on the back of Jonahs cap hes wearing? Does that mean that he's God to them? Wouldn't that contradict the whole purpose of angel gabby being his guardian angel?
I think the wreath of life company didn't know about the angels influencing their shows at first but over time realized what the angels where doing and either abused them or canceled their programs, zag seemed to have a negative attitude torwards them, he's tone when he thought jonah was working for wreath and when gabby suggested jonah help them, he questioned if they should let someone from outside help them again.
yea I figured that I knew it cus of a video I watched a few years ago about the scp foundation btw the channel is scp explained and their logo is a skull with a blue mohawk
This video speaks to me in ways I didn’t know possible. It feels like it changed something to me. Like ending an extremely good game. Or watching a movie that was so good you stare at the credits. It’s something I will never forget.
Everything I'm thinking of is that this is a story of a child of abuse. Hiding from dad, forgetting memories, hiding objects of harm. I know it might be a stretch but it's what I'm getting from this.
Apparently Zagzagel is the angel of wisdom, the angel of the burning bush who advised and taught Moses. Zag and Gabbys differences seem like Old and New Testament differences, Old Testament wasn’t into hand holding and good vibes either.
"Supernatural" doesn't automatically mean "malevolent." Maybe Gabby/Gabriel is an actual angel, sent to protect a vulnerable child who was in danger. "He" could be a normally-dickish stepdad, or... Ahem. You-Know-Who. Also, I think Gabby is a Cherub and Zaggy's a Seraph.
When gabby said to Joshua "remember someone died for you" you thought it was a family member, but because of the religious references in the video, gabby was probaby talking about the death of Jesus Christ on the cross to forgive all of humanity's sin including that of Jonah
The character names are actually symbolic to their angel counter parts in the Bible too! Angel Gabriel is often associated with children, childbirth, and fertility and angel zagzagel is an Angel of wisdom
Meaningful that Francis is a Saint, too. The angels speak to the holiest among humankind, and the saints are the holiest of all. Oh, and St. Francis is the patron saint of animals. Hmm...
I went into this video expecting horror and by the end I had such an overwhelming happiness that I can't put into words. It's so wholesome to have an angel help this boy then him help her in the end. I think the woman who voiced Gabby did an excellent job at giving her a soft, patient and kind voice and it makes her really likeable
This might just be the best reaction channel. You not only review each episode to your best, but you also point things out that I hadn’t even noticed, while also adding follow up questions. I normally just go to the original channel of the videos that other RU-vidrs review, but when it comes to your channel, I prefer to just keep watching. Thanks, man. Keep up the awesome content.👍
For me personally, this series has a powerful message about trauma and the people we idolize. That we don't need to fully heal from our trauma to move past it and do something good. While at the same time understanding that our heroes are not perfect beings but instead may also need help, understanding and patience. You don't need to be perfect to make the world better, you just need to try.
Gabby is clearly Chaotic Good. She helps Jonah. She cares about Jonah. She remembers Jonah. Gabby's methods may have been questionable, but she saved Jonah.
I love that bait and switch at the beginning so much, just inverting the idea of "old VHS is haunted" and instead it's the normal thing. It really sets the theme for the series of being an inversion of expectations typical of the genre.
Honestly, Angel Hare has been the first ever instance I've seen of analog horror being taken in a wholesome and happy sense rather than a horrifying and hopeless reality. I praise that. And I personally think it should be done more. I mean, I'm aware that analog horror is usually scary, because it's in the name, and it has to be like that. But I want some wholesomeness every now and then, at the very least a break from the horror. That's what Angel Hare is here for, an experience as you watch a man slowly reunite with his (sorta) childhood friend. I love it.
I was expecting this to be A LOT darker, but after the episode where they reunite, I just wanted to cry. Having a character (who's possessed by a guardian angel?) to watch over you and help keep you safe would be so comforting, and the thought of reuniting with that character years later is just so heart warming.
In all honesty. I found this rather comforting and helpful. Even if its kinda weird that she’s talking to Jonah through tapes, i still have this comfy feeling how its so wholesome how she’s protecting him and giving him advice
This series was so wholesome I dont understand why its called an horror analog when it is so wholesome. Tape 6 line "Im proud to see you, Jonah Just look how much you've grown" made me almost cry it warmed my heart
Its because up until that point, its strongly hinting at dark, disturbing subject matter and that its not clear to what ends Gabby is aiding Jonah for. Part of horror is fear of the unknown, and it wasn't clear where the story was heading.
@@Redblaze27Right on the mark. It starts out showing signs of something being very wrong with the tv show, things that should be impossible happening with no clarity on what the intentions are of the perpetrator. The only twist is that Gabby is revealed to probably be a genuine angel who is legitimately just trying to help children that need her, with no harm done either way. It’s the same as most args except that there’s no real threat (other than bad people in general sort of).
I think it's kind of cute that Jonah formed this like mom - and - son relationship with Gabby even though he already has mom. It's like he has a second mom!
I thought that it might have been horror at some point, but really, Gabby really is just trying to help as many children as she can, is not controlling at all, its a medium for her to teach the kids how to cope with the unfair injustice of abuse or pain in their lives.
I think the real horror isn’t in that Gabi knows what’s going on in the outside world. I think the horror is that she has to know, because if not the person on the other end won’t be alive to watch it.
Looking back after the ending, the picture Francis had (at 43:43) describes how Gabby was being torn apart from her presented form into fragments across the numerous screens of all those calling to her. The symbolism of the eyes also takes on a new meaning when viewed similarly.
I absolutely love that this isn't about demonic stuff and just ends up being wholesome. At this point the story is most likly over. But I really wish I could see more of this series. I'll so see the main channel of this series to find more.
So we had the sweet and protective Gabriel in rabbit form, but then we also get their associate or fellow angel, Zagzagel who works as a noir detective show because he's an angel of knowledge and wisdom important traits for any PI. I think it shows a growth of Jonas from a child who needs help into an adult who wants the knowledge to find his friend again.
For people who don’t understand that much my theory is that Angel Gabby/Gabriel is like Jonah‘s actual guardian angel and was trying to help him and record the tape so they can communicate and Jonah got taught where to hide if there’s like an intruder and I think there has been like a intruder coming back over and over and trying to harm them or the dad went psycho and is trying to kill the mom and son but that’s my theory
The dad was abusive and had presumably a glock so the angel told Jonah to destroy it and the hiding is the angel telling Jonah to hide from his presumably intoxicated dad.
Jonah I'm so proud to see how much you growed got me crying all night ❤I can see gabby just wants to help children going through things ❤❤❤I love gabby she has a good heart and Jonah you're a big kid you don't need me anymore got me sad
It’s so cute how she was the mother that was never there for Jonah, and showed such love for him, I love how she reacted exactly how a caring mother would when Jonah would mess up on things. It’s soooo wholesome!❤
That second VCR recording when it got to the hiding in the closet sent chills down my spine and made my blood run cold. That is some damn effective horror.
Im pretty sure the consensus of Jonahs father is that Jonah via Gabbys instructions took apart and hid the peices of a gun, created an alibi, and lead him to shooting his own father after a brutal event under the cover of a flood
I don’t think it was his father at all. It sounds like mom boyfriend, etc. if it was his father I think the angel would explain how sometimes people that family can hurt you, etc.
@@Pulapawsnot my thought but another commenter said that that seemingly nonsensical comment about heat/sun/warmth was about how abusive parents might act good sometimes but will eventually go back to their shitty ways
This wraps up everything so nicely and cutely! I love the way you made it more fun and interesting to watch the series while not interrupting too much :D
