eh, if it's not connected then the compressor cant run. if the contents are frozen and the insulation is good (and most decent 12v fridge/freezers have 2" insulation) and it doesnt get opened much there's no need to run the compressor until the next day. honestly no reason to change what he's doing now

I don't see how that's a downside. Victron makes a similar sized unit, which costs $100 more with the same input. In order to get more input, you have to spend $200 more.
