Intrusive thoughts: LET US WIN! Normal thoughts: NEVER! WE WILL MAKE THIS WAR GO ON FOR YEARS! Intrusive thoughts: ATTACK! Normal thoughts: AUGHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Intrusive thoughts win. DAMN SHE GOT THAT COMBU- Bad ending.
I remember playing HL2 with a mod that added the combine Assasins, they were A PAIN to deal with, given that they literally dodge your bullets, climb walls and do parkour while shooting you non-stop
To be fair, they're just like the Black Ops from the OG Half Life, and realistically, that might have been why they were cut from the game. Either that or they just didn't have places to implement them, but I say the Black Ops because imo, the Black Op assassins literally SUCK to fight in HL
@@quietjester154 Oh yea. The black Ops assassins turn invisible, that's the only difference between them and the Combine Assassin. Other than that, they're exactly the same, minus for the sniper, who can one-shot you if you're out in the open
@@SkrunkyTheClown I would love to see them implemented, but I feel like they would have to be used, again, kinda like how the Black Ops Assassins were used: Like, a total of three times in base game, if even that many times, because they can really stop the pace of your game if they don't stop moving
Take a closer look my friend. I think it’s actually supposed to be the LAR Grizzly .50 single shot rifle. This rifle was actually planned to be used as the long range weapon for either Half-life one or two but it, much like this character itself was scrapped in favor of something different
@lambsauce5312 , the "assault rifle" shown was a cut weapon also from the beta, which was a sniper rifle. You're right about the high calibre thing as it was supposed to be in 50 bmg
@@EstebanGilChillington .50 BMG wasn't made to be accurate, nor are most .50 BMG (non-MG) guns, they're basically DMRs with a little more oomph, in the modern sense to me a sniper rifle is a rifle with a high-magnification optic that is highly adjustable and is in-between "caliber categories" as to be specialized in that sense, basically between 7.62x51mm NATO and 12.7x98mm BMG Usually bolt action although there are self-loading sniper systems (though gas and cartridge ejection are surprisingly visible) meant to be used in a sniper spotter duo and not within a squad itself, considering it's .50 BMG, no spotter, and they seemingly aren't lone operatives, and the weapons they have are specifically designed for them, it's an antimateriel rifle
@lambsauce5312 From what I can find on half-life 2 beta weapons and on raising the bar: redux, which is a mod that tries to reestablish the beta, it would be a single shot rifle with a scope on it, so the sniper rifle claim could be thrown out into being an anti material rifle, then again the sniper would be used to replace what the cross bow is. It would be loaded with only one round, like a BFG 50, so you are right to a big extent.
The reason Combine Assassin's were cut from HL2 was not due to their appearance, it was because of balancing. Assassin's were ment to come back from HL1 but due to the OG being mid-paced due to the combat and gameplay, the Source translation and fast paced combat of 2 made it hard to fight against, even on harder difficulties. So they had to cut this enemy to not overwhelm the player too much and also, they couldn't find a good location to implement them. Plainoff, shes just annoying to go against and clashed with the Retail designs, as they wanted to focus on what can work rather then waste time.
My analysis’s: 1. The Garry’s Mod recreation requires laser guided grenades to even have the slightest chance of hitting her. 2. The inspiration for this character comes from hyperactive kids bouncing off of walls past their bedtime. 3. The combine elite is like a cat with hair while the assassin is one without it. 4. I forgot
The female Black Ops enemy in Half-Life 1 almost has the same movement as the scrapped Combine Assassin enemy in Half-Life 2 so I don't really see why it won't fit.
@@ndnixlon9548 She was too fast and Valve had aversion to putting fast enemies in the game. Exception is Fast Zombie and he is not really that fast or smart and constantly gives you openings to attack him. Fassassin simply doesn't give you chances to attack her normally. At least with her Beta AI. They probably could balance her down the line, but cutting her was easier.
Honestly I wouldn’t have taken HL2 seriously if that character was added to the game. I remember seeing the female assassins in HL1 and wondering who’s latex fetish leaked out on that one.
@@denifnaf5874 Ted Bachman was responsible for alot of the sexual imagery of half life like the head crabs and Gonarch, even though the designs are weird, they are iconic
But at the same time, the combine would be missing out on a large population they could be taking advantage of. I get your point, but just clarifying that the problem is oversexualizing, not just adding women to the fighting force
@@pentiumgaming the truth is that with the amount of body modification the combine use, I always assumed many of the soldiers were women but unrecognizably androgynized.
Chell: "So you gave me her heels but not her cake?" Glados: "Cake will be delivered at the end of the test" *Chell finishes the game* Chell: "This was absolutely NOT what i meant!"
@@shapik6629Cake as in “ass”, but instead of getting the female combine ass she got a literal cake from the game’s ending. That’s the joke, hope it helps

Funnily enough, in a way she wasn't fully cut from HL2 as they do appear in the Japanese-only HL2 arcade game, Half-Life 2: Survivor. The game had a single-player mode but also had a 4 v 4 multiplayer mode where people could choose between the resistance or the combine, one of the player models for the combine soldiers used is the Assassin Model! Also as another little bonus, this is the only official HL2-related game that actually has a fully modelled Gordon Freeman instead of the grey placeholder model that HL2, EP1, and EP2 use.
They were actually added to Entropy Zero 2 in the last update. Or at least a showcase of the NPC, there's an addon in the workshop that also adds the NPC.
Imagine going through the HL2 city and then hearing the combine sound out of nowhere, and then next second you get dropkicked by a female combine assassin PayDay2 style
This enemy would make an appearance in Half-Life 2: Survivor, a Japan-exclusive arcade system. Also, that's not an "Assault rifle" type weapon she's holding in the concept art you showed, that's a single-shot anti-material weapon possibly modeled on the LAR Grizzly .50 bmg, which itself probably evolved into the sniper weapon used by the combine in Half-life 2.
I think there's some tubing in the knees... But they're not knee replacements, they're Aperture Science Long Fall Boots. Designed so that when your most precious assets are falling from 50,000 feet, the people holding them don't let them break
@Lonely Teapot they're still treated as separate technology in Portal 2. In The Lab Rat comic they're shown to be broken, and Chell probably got the boots as replacement. You are right that the boots are a reinterpretations of the Knee replacements.
