I bought mine after watching your previous PS2 HDMI solutions comparison video a couple of weeks ago. To my surprise, I was previously using component cables (the very same you have shown in this video) and while the image looks good with them, my tv does not support 240p over component for PS1 games. But with the PS2 to HDMI not only the image looks exactly the same as before but now I can play 240p PS1 games over HDMI !!! (oh and again, using the same tv/monitor you are using in this video, a slightly different/older model number but from the same generation, it looks the same externally at least).
Where are you even supposed to find the information on what's compatible with what model. 70% of these comments are people asking if their PS2 is compatible.
it works ok and it’s cheap and easy to use, but for some games it’s no good. it makes some games look out of proportion, and in most cases it ruins the brightness making any game with dark sequences unplayable
What do you mean the PS2 to HDMI does not work with every system? All PS2's support YPbPr. If you are not getting a picture, the component output mode is probably set to RGB. You need to first go into the settings and make sure the PS2 is set to output YPbPr.
Just upgraded my TV to a 55" which no longer has the component connection, so I'm gonna get one of these. Thanks for the great comparisons, much love from England
@@HMCuber am curious too :D I also have the same problem, I buyed 55" TV and it doesnt have AV input so am kinda curious how the image will look like. But Am goin to order that HDMI converter anyway and I will see.
@@Emet-wd5mz From my research, the actual quality of ps2 games with this HDMI adapter will vary depending on your TV. I believe the newer the TV the worse by nature the graphics will be a bit less crisp because the ps2 wasn't made for these newer tvs. I believe the hdmi adapter will allow you to get the best quality you can though, and it will also make the ps2 full screen.
@@HMCuber SOOOO update :D I got it, conected it to my TV, did a lil corections and boyyyyyy that PS2 on that huge ass TV looks AMAZING. Like its not 4K or something but its not so low res as I tought it would be. Some part of it is even sharp like it was native resolution. For 5€ it was great deal. Now am thinking what to add next cuz I have now these HDMI adapter, home theater, NAS server that is conected to PS2 via internet, multitap, free mc boot and even a hard wired modchip. I think that I am done with my PS2 :D
Ps2 to hdmi Image quality is awesome, otherwise the problem is the fps, are almost the half than using a good component cable. I wish if you would make a comparison of this. Please!🙏🏼
2:45 i wanted to get one of these for my ps1/ps2, but i dont want to run extra power cables around. you are telling me you can just plug the usb into the playstations usb port and it will work???
This dongle works very well. Also works great on my ps3, which I found when the hdmi output died on that machine. Only gripe is that the power port is in an odd place and is in the way of the hdmi port. Bad design choice, but otherwise good product.
thank you for the video! i ordered a Mayflash brand and i was seeing no signal, and was about to return it, until i saw this video about going to the settings first.
Just ordered one. Seen a few vids on this on your channel. Looks like the best one, and at $5 Australian. A pretty good deal. I have component cables but they're pretty cheap and offer a slightly better picture. I think it probably looks better as it doesn't offer any type of upscaling. It's just the raw component image. You can always use GSM to handle that
@@MichaelM28 Really? Oh well. Can't expect too much at $5. If it's that bad I'll just stick with component. Not willing to pay over $100 AU for an OSCC as that's just over kill in my situation.
I have only one issue with the ps2 to HDMI adapter is the stress it puts on the ps2 port if you have to move the console. I have no real issue with the stress it puts on adapter connector as worse case scenario, they are dirt cheap to replace. Other than that, its great bang for the buck, and so much better than the bit more expensive ps2 to hdmi cables that I thought would resolve my issues with the port stress, but seem to just be composite quality with the ugly old composite dot crawl. I ended up sticking some foam padding on the bottom in the end to just give it that bit of extra support, though I do unplug if I have to move it.
That's a resolution and interlace issue. You'll need an upscaler to make the picture even better. This is just a native PS2 image from this. You can use GSM on a FreeMcBoot to give you a slightly better image. But an upscaler like an OSCC is something you may want to look at
@@WickedGamerCollector oh thanks i used to play this all the time on my ps2 but lost the disk, also thinking about getting this converter looks like it works real well for the most part.
Believe it or not I have a cheap Hisense hd tv and it has component in, and it supports 480i, ps2 looks pretty good on it. Have to have the component cable though it is ugly through the OEM av cable
Same here, I have no idea why they have that usb thing. Maybe some ps2 models don't provide enough juice in the AV port. I have a phat SCPH 50004 and it works without usb. What ps2 model do you have?
@@Grupucc after I wrote the comment I noticed that sometimes the image wouldn't show up if I didn't have the usb connected, so it is definitely not working correctly without it. I highly suggest you use it
I have a armor3 converter and I have to plug the yellow red and white cable in the little box. Then put the hdmi in tv and connect to box. The ps2 games still look the same. Will this kinda of make the quality of the ps2 games all little better? Because when I play Armageddon on story it’s so dark
i just found your channel and love for this device, i was thrilled to see you prefer this one as i made a similar discovery when using other cheap av-hdmi dongles and such. definitely prefer this one
I don't know why but on resident evil 4 the screen change of size constantly, and metal gear solid 3 the screen change to the biggest size but it doesn't fit on tv screen, I don't know what I am doing wrong, help please
Too bad this used to work for me and no longer does. I’m just stuck on a no signal screen despite everything being plugged in. I don’t have any original cables and I never needed them for this to work last time, but now it’s just not working anymore.
I bought one of these and it works fine until after the game loads the playstation 2 logo and will go on for a few seconds afterwards then my tv says no signal
That's what i wanna know too before i order tbh. IF anyone has info if it works on 3000 series and lower let us know, present yourself, bestow upon us the info we seek, guide us into the information we want! xD
@@XxMdNsRxX That's so amazing to hear, thanks so much, i'll order 2 of them tbh, cause i've heard some units die quickly after weeks or months of use, while some last for years for some people, so just in case and to be safe, plus they're cheap, thanks again so much!
I have a Fat PS2 model SCPH-3004 and I must say that sometimes when I use the PS2 to hdmi device, it losing semnal very often during the gameplay, is it normal or my PS2 SCPH-3004 doesn't support the PS2 to HDMI properly or constantly? Please answer me, I need to know the truth, maybe you can help me...🙆♂️🤷♂️✌
I've tried everything!, followed several tutorials on this, they all guide the same, yet mine doesn't work?. All that happens is the playstation makes loud droning sounds and the tray disc shoots out at lighting speed??
I got that bad boy ps2 to hdmi adapter and it works like a charm though my egato hd60 pro doesn’t wanna record footage, it captures signal to my tv but not to OBS nor Game Capture HD.
Has it ever happened to any of you not needing the usb power cable? i connected it to an older tv which has hdmi of course and it didnt require the extra usb power :O can anyone explain why? xD
I recommend don't used the ps2 to hdmi adapter the preferred option was used the micomsoft/OSSC/Retrotink upscaler to get the best picture from the ps2
You are comparing solutions that are more than $100 to get with a $5 Chinese dongle, it's unfair. We could also argue that a Retrotink looks like shit compared to buying a good Trinitron, since that's where component looks better, and this probably will be a cheaper solution (if you have the physical space to have a heavy, bulky old tv, ofc)
I own one, but never used it. Got it on the begin of the pandemic, and trew it in a drawer and that is where it is still today. But going to use it in the futre, when i upgrade my console with a HDD/MX4iso thing.
I actually picked one of these up "on accident" I was looking for an HDMI solution but really didn't research it too much before purchasing. Got lucky picking this one up instead of one of the poor ones.
