As a music teacher, I was impressed with the slow beat of the lead, then when the squad joined her they sped up the beat and maintained the rhythm all while stomping, clapping and chanting..... IMPRESSIVE!!!👏🏽💯👏🏽💯👏🏽💯
This seems very old school court yard cheering we did in my Brooklyn neighborhood back in the 80’s. I love what they did here because I haven’t seen this since early 90’s and thought it was a lost part of Black Americans history
Yes I agree as a musician, I was most impressed by the less melanated girls when the stepping came in. You know steppin ain't even for all brown people 😅😂
WHAT THE HELL SCHOOL YALL GO TOO EVERYBODY KNOWS THEY START OF SLOW TO LET EVERYBODY KNOW WHAT THEY SAYING AND SHOWING THE CROWD THE ROUTINE IN SLOW MOTION SO WHEN THEY SPEED IT UP THEIR NOT CONFUSED 😂😂😂
Will this get the team motivated or distracted? I'm just asking because this seems to be a cheer for basketball. The players aren't going to shoot that ball, they're going to stop and look 😆.
I'm fine with diversity but why are so many romantcizing it? There's nothing wrong with an all (insert race) cheer squad either. You're a bunch of brainwashed weirdos.
OMG I FINALLY FOUND THE VIDEOOOO My coaches at school were like teaching us this new cheer and she was explaining the complicated ending and we couldn’t get it but she couldn’t find the video again to show us what it was so yea… ❤❤❤
It's nice, but if the game is going on, then they cannot be this distracting. I hope they did this when it's half-time. These long and loud cheers are not helpful to the team.
@@coolerheadsprevail9312 we do it during the game bc that’s what gives them energy and hype them up also we do some cheering during half time to hype up the crowd for the other half of the game. It’s not distracting bc we are encouraging them to shoot the ball and make it.
This, is what cheer is about! They get built up, and louder, and yelling it out, Shoot that Ball! Got the audiences’ attention, for sure. Bada$$! Absolute props for working up that crowd! Creative and new. And the most colorful squad I think I’ve ever seen. Thing of beauty. They got it. In spades 😎
@Ken Stone stop being the white victim. An overwhelming majority of things are still white controlled white owned. 🙄🙄🙄 All of these girls are amazing and any implication that they were chosen for diversity is an insult
Everything about this I love. So diverse. All different shades, ethnicities, and sizes! But they all sound like one voice when they are cheering together. (That sounds like a life lesson to me:) Their choreography is not over sexualized...even some HS cheer squads are off the hook these days. Well done ladies!!!
Personally my coach wouldn't let us do this for cheer because she doesn't like things even close to this. We do a lot of basic things I love this cheer but I'm just putting this out there of what my experience is
I am at WMS and we are going this cheer We have been praciticed it for like 3 months and still can’t do it as good as y’all What a group of cheerleaders 📣
@@dreemeagle you asked the obvious question and now you’re asking what my point is? You must go around doing this. Saying goofy ish in the comments. Bye
@@kayjo6843 you have to be white . Because your comment was so stupid!!! Or girls! My tiny private all girl school needed all hands on deck. You can’t ball? Cool, cheer! What you mean you can’t? Well you better shoot that ball!!!!
Ikr!?! Power of life and death in the tongue. Speak into existence what u desire. WITH UNFLINCHING UNAPOLOGETIC AUTHORITY...(Git it, Lil Mama/Team!) I know they better shoot. that. BALL. 😂😂😂
I love the step team energy in these cheer leaders. Where I’m from cheer and step were rivals. Looks like they’ve come together after all these years!!! Love this and the diversity of this team!
This is a cheer style called stomp n shake cheerleading. It was created by black Americans and has been around for a long time as early as the 1970s (likely even earlier). You’ll typically see it in predominantly black schools at the pre-collegiate level and at all HBCUs with a cheer team. Some schools will have both a stomp n shake team and a traditional cheerleading team. Usually the split is either because of spilt preferences or unfortunately racist undertones (think along the lines of certain states having segregated proms).
They're fabulous. You should be proud. Being on a cheer squad you keep the friends from your squad for life. Kept us out of trouble too. Blessings and may she enjoy these wonderful times in her life! ❤
Uniforms are fire. Love the step team quality of the claps and movements. We had a cheer with movements just like this called ELECTRIC SHOCK. Well the movements were more complex but it reminds me of it😂
Same thing I was thinking! Typically white pple will pull their children out and send them to another school. But these parents did not. So happy the school is diverse! ❤
@@chocolateradiance7216 I went to a private school where we only had one black student for many years. It was junior pre-k to 12th grade. One day some elementary school class had black kid join and they were calling him, “little brown baby.” Apparently they weren’t even being mean, they had just never seen a black person. Lol. They had to take all the white and Asian kids aside and teach them that black people are a thing. I know this because my mother was a teacher for the younger students.
Are you for real the girl that started it off sounds like she got a frog in her throat the girl on the front and left should have started it off confidence
Wym? Y’all act like cheerleaders are what they seem like in the movies😂 pretty much anyone could be a cheerleader at least at my school I went to! Didn’t matter what color or size, they wanted the spirit you had not the appearance
@@emceekaoz1886 not everyone has even a diverse school. So when people see something they are not use to they have a reaction which could be positive or negative. Thankfully most people are reacting positively towards this group of young people.
@@emceekaoz1886 I agree with u completely I just wish people wouldn't say this is a fully diverse group when it's really not! Diverse in colour but diversity isn't just about colour :)
@@justicebeginstoshine8069 don’t do that. It was a compliment. I’m sure the commenter did not mean to steal anyone else’s joy. They are all equal with many talents within their own rights. That is why this particular cheer is set up the way it is. Babygirl girl rocked. The rest joined in and together they were fire.🔥😍🙌🏾🥰💃🏽 Kudos to the cheer coach as well.😊
@@powerfully_confident1739 Thank you for your very positive comment. There's nothing wrong with recognizing individual talents. Yes, it's obvious they are all talented but the young lady who started the cheer rocked it. Nothing wrong with giving her props.
Ephesians 6:10-18 says, Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. The bible is no old book. You have to really let Christ open your eyes; to see the world in shambles. Many people say it's a religion to lock up people in chains, and say it's a rule book.. why? Because people hate hearing the truth, it hurts their flesh, it's hurts their pride, it's exposes on what things have they done..people love this world so much, s*x, money, power, women, supercars.. things of this world. Still trying to find something that can fill that emptiness in your heart. You can't find that in this world.. only in Christ, the bible is no chains, it's a chainbreaker. Breaking your sins into pieces... Repent now, and turn back to the true Lord only.. God bless.😊😊😊😊
The diversity and harmony is what caught my attention. I looked the entire squad over and theyvall get an A+ for rhythm and sync SHOOT THAT BALL 🏀🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🫶🏾🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🫶🏾
I have never seen an actual diverse group of cheerleaders and this makes me so happy as someone who had the cheer experience, but never fit the look of my fellow classmates as I constantly moved around the country as a mixed person. It may seem like a minor detail but it really does mean a lot to have such unlimited diversity within a group of anything. Edit: This comment has only been up for 2 days and I'm already getting tired of the comments about diversity in places on the other side of the global map 😭. I am FROM California. Diversity there is great. Beautiful. Mixed sports especially is nothing new. Crazy. I don't live in California. I don't live in a relatively cup of mixed fruit type district. The major population here is like 60.1% white, 29.3% AA, and 10.6 Other (mostly mixed or non identifying). Now let's take it back to my highschool years here. There are only 2 PUBLIC nonreligious schools available for students and while logically it's divided based on district, you can see a big difference between the schools. School-A has a 73.1% rate for white or non Hispanic and Latino students while School-B. Has an 88.6% rate for AA students. The. Diversity. Was. Not. There. Ok? If you wanted to join cheer as a woman you literally had to pass a feature qualification test. Meaning you must have the same hair, similar body type, could not pass below or above the average height by 1"5', and your skin tone had to fit the given range. I am not making this shit up.
